You will be amazed at their thought process which is mostly inquisitive are at this stage. It takes a lot of patient, love, maturity and some firmness to bring up a child in the way they shouldne brought... Sadly the Nigerian folks dont seem to have these traits.

Why is it that many of you on Nairaland don't take your time to understand people's views before reacting to them?

250 million years is not 250 seconds so don't expect to see evolutiom changes by the second, daily or even annually or in centuries!

Say, plant and animal life evolved some 800 million years ago.

Now, leaving aside the vast majority of undiscovered species,
There are about 9 million known species which will take about a thousand years to completely categorize.

From the above, it takes roughly a hundred years for a species to evolve, right?

I.e, 800 million years/ 9 million species = 100 years per species.

Ever heard of peer review? What it means is that your rivals study your submissions and try to rubbish it. If they are successful, your theory is thrown into the dustbin but if it withstands the tests, it is generally accepted.
And Darwin's evolution theory withstood the tests and that is why it is generally accepted.
