TravelMistakes Parents Make When Traveling With Kids by flex04(op): 12:53pm On Mar 14, 2018
https://www.opinions.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/unnamed15.jpg

As a parent or would-be parent, travelling with your children for the first time can feel daunting and stress-inducing. From figuring out what to pack to being concerned for your child, these are the real fears of parents. Regardless, there are mistakes you should avoid when travelling with your children or kids. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares some of these mistakes.
Reducing screen time

In your house, you might have a policy about how much time your kids can spend playing games or watching movies on devices. But when you’re travelling, you might have to bend the rules a little to survive your travel. Make sure any device you’re bringing is fully loaded with approved videos and apps and allow them to have as much screen time as they want to keep them distracted.

Overplanning

You have ideas about what destination you want to visit during your trip, but remember that when you have kids, flexibility is everything. Just know that kids will create better memories – swimming in a vacation home pool and eating vacation food than they will trek or climb a mountain. It is really not difficult to satisfy them. In fact, it is probably better to allow the kids to decide where they want to go.

Choosing the wrong time of day to travel

You might not have your kids’ sleep cycle at the top of your mind when you’re trying to book an affordable flight, but if you have the flexibility to book based on your kid’s energy, sleep and food needs, it can be a huge help. You can choose a flight departure that is closest to your child’s bedtime and avoid day flights that mean your kids will be awake.

Not bringing entertainment or toys

It’s worth leaving space in your luggage for a few items that help entertain and soothe your kids. Pack your child’s favourite toy, animal or blanket so they can feel comfortable and at home wherever you are. Never forget their toys and entertainment if you want peace during your trip.

Overpacking

It’s not smart to under-pack when you’re travelling with kids. But, at the same, you don’t want to overpack. In your desire not to forget anything your kids might need, you risk bringing way too much, which only adds to stress. The rule of thumb should be to pack what is really important.

TravelAmazing Ways Technology Has Changed The Way You Travel by flex04(op):
Technology has beamed its searchlight in almost every sector you can think of including the travel industry. For example, today, you can easily open an app on your smartphone, decide where you want to go, book your flights and hotels in under 15 minutes and before you know it, you’re all set for your quick weekend getaway. Technology has undoubtedly changed the face of travel and made travelling so much easier. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, looks back at how travel has changed over the years.

Staying in touch

While on the go, you’d send back pretty postcards, write letters and occasionally spend on that long-distance phone call from the hotel reception, or a local phone booth. Staying in touch certainly wasn’t easy and most people back home didn’t expect to hear from you unless it was an emergency. Now, free WiFi hotspots at airports and cafés make it so easy to email, Skype and Tweet as much and as often as you like.

Booking the hotel/flight

Brochures were the lifesaver in the past. You have no choice than to go through hotel brochures, ask friends where they have stayed during their holiday and then actually phone the hotel to book a room. While doing all this, you do not know if you will like the room or not. Now, we have Online Travel Agencies like Jumia Travel now provides everything you need to know about the hotel you want to book including room pictures and review. This is almost the same for flight.

Learning local language

You can travel anywhere in the world today and can communicate with ease without any difficulty. This is because you can learn or understand any language you want with the aid of apps like Google Translate, iTranslate or Waygo. These apps can help you dialogue with the locals.

Determining your destination

In the past, you have to exhaustively look over holiday brochures at a travel agent’s office, buy guidebooks or taking a friend’s recommendation when it came to deciding where to go. But today, you can easily Google any destination and all the information you need will be at your fingertips within seconds.

Taking photographs

There was nothing like a selfie in the pre-technology travel age. However, presently you can take as many pictures as you so desire and even share them on any of your desired social media platforms. Smartphones have made this very easy and clearly, these gadgets are a huge threat to digital cameras.

FoodPoints For Eating Healthy On A Budget by flex04(op): 2:06pm On Mar 07, 2018

When you have a tight budget, meal planning and grocery shopping have its challenges. When you have a tight budget and you’re dedicated to eating healthfully, it’s even trickier. Jumia Food, Nigeria’s no 1 food ordering platforms shares points that make eating well when you’re strapped for cash feel easy.

Try to buy in bulk

You can buy in bulk but only buy a size you can use before it goes bad. For example, if you buy meat in bulk, decide what you need to use that day and freeze the rest in portion-sized packages right away.

Plan and prepare meals ahead

Preparing food in advance is a step in the right direction towards eating healthy. It’s also a good way to make sure you’re eating what’s in the fridge so as to reduce waste.

Ask for discounts

Ask your local grocery stores or online food delivery platform if they have a discount or a loyalty or discount card. Besides getting items at a lower price, you may also get store coupons.

Make smart choices

Try to choose less processed foods, baked goods, and snacks. You will definitely save money and make smart food choices too.

Keep an organised fridge

Leftovers are always great, but it totally defeats the purpose if they get lost in the back of the fridge. Endeavour to label leftovers and keep your fridge organised to help minimize food waste.

You have probably heard of the claim that a ‘mysterious’ snake swallowed JAMB’s money somewhere in Benue state. Of course, you know someone is being overly creative with their alibi on that one.

However, we have a video and as you can see a picture of a snake who swallowed a tennis ball and the vet had to gently massage it out of the reptile.

Maybe this is what we need in Nigeria, a gentle massage of the ‘mysterious’ snake to get JAMB’s N36 million back.

Watch the video and tell us what you think?

The new lifestyle smartphones will exceed customers’ expectations in terms of design, camera and performance.

Lagos, Nigeria, 06 March 2018: Xiaomi has concluded plans to unveil four of its latest smartphone devices – Redmi Note 5a, Redmi Note 5a Prime, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus in Nigeria and exclusively on Jumia Nigeria website on March 7th, 2018. The two smartphones, which run on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with an incredible battery life of 3080mAh, are essentially an upgrade of the Redmi Note 5.

https://i2.wp.com/www.opinions.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/yyyy-1.png?w=700

Juliet Anammah, CEO of Jumia Nigeria disclosed this saying, “I am confident that Xiaomi’s success in other markets will be replicated in Nigeria – as it was in India and Indonesia – as a result of the depth of their understanding of exactly what the Nigerian customers need as regards the functionality and durability of a smartphone.

Jumia is proud to bring these two new devices to the Nigerian market and will officially be available for purchase during our Mobile Week sales event scheduled to hold March 15th through 25th, 2018. We’re very happy to be the exclusive online distributor of these new smartphones in Nigeria.”

One remarkable attribute of both phones is their picture quality: the Redmi 5a Prime boasts of a 16MP front camera, with f/2.0 aperture on the front as well as a flashlight, while the primary camera for both phones on the rear packs a 13-megapixel camera.

All the devices feature a 5.5’HD screen with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels and have a super slim 8.4mm thickness and an appealing unibody metal chassis that gives it a wonderful aesthetic look. They are powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm 435 and use a dual nano sim slot.

The Redmi 5a Prime has a hybrid 32GB ROM and a 3GB RAM while its counterpart, the Redmi 5a houses 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM.

The most notorious feature is undoubtedly the device’s high-spec camera, which allows its users to capture precious moments and fleeting sceneries with ease. A growing trend in the world of tech and fashion that will definitely leave its mark and become a reference for future devices.

St. Irenaeus
"The blessed apostles [Peter and Paul], having
founded and built up the church [of Rome] . . .
handed over the office of the episcopate to
Linus" (Against Heresies 3:3:3 [A.D. 189]).
Tertullian
"[T]his is the way in which the apostolic
churches transmit their lists: like the church of
the Smyrneans, which records that Polycarp
was placed there by John, like the church of
the Romans, where Clement was ordained by
Peter" (Demurrer Against the Heretics 32:2 [A.D.
200]).
The Little Labyrinth
"Victor . . . was the thirteenth bishop of Rome
from Peter" (The Little Labyrinth [A.D. 211], in
Eusebius, Church History 5:28:3).
Cyprian of Carthage
"The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says,
‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will
build my Church, and the gates of hell will not
overcome it. . . . ’ [Matt. 16:18]. On him [Peter]
he builds the Church, and to him he gives the
command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and
although he assigns a like power to all the
apostles, yet he founded a single chair
[cathedra], and he established by his own
authority a source and an intrinsic reason for
that unity. . . . If someone [today] does not hold
fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that
he still holds the faith? If he [should] desert the
chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built,
can he still be confident that he is in the
Church?" (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4;
first edition [A.D. 251]).
"Cornelius was made bishop by the decision of
God and of his Christ, by the testimony of
almost all the clergy, by the applause of the
people then present, by the college of venerable
priests and good men, at a time when no one
had been made [bishop] before him—when the
place of [Pope] Fabian, which is the place of
Peter, the dignity of the sacerdotal chair, was
vacant. Since it has been occupied both at the
will of God and with the ratified consent of all
of us, whoever now wishes to become bishop
must do so outside. For he cannot have
ecclesiastical rank who does not hold to the
unity of the Church" (Letters 55:[52]):8 [A.D.
253]).
"With a false bishop appointed for themselves
by heretics, they dare even to set sail and carry
letters from schismatics and blasphemers to
the chair of Peter and to the principal church
[at Rome], in which sacerdotal unity has its
source" (ibid., 59:14).
Eusebius of Caesarea
"Paul testifies that Crescens was sent to Gaul [2
Tim. 4:10], but Linus, whom he mentions in the
Second Epistle to Timothy [2 Tim. 4:21] as his
companion at Rome, was Peter’s successor in
the episcopate of the church there, as has
already been shown. Clement also, who was
appointed third bishop of the church at Rome,
was, as Paul testifies, his co-laborer and fellow-
soldier [Phil. 4:3]" (Church History 3:4:9–10
[A.D. 312]).

Denomination turn!!!!!!

Am not a catholic neither is there anything that will make me a catholic even in the nearest future, but it high time we call a spade a spade
LEAVE CATHOLICS ALONE!!!

I stumbled upon a pamphlet from one of these new generation churches that refused to mention its name, they only dropped a phone number and tagged it "SMS ONLY". Itsaid "REASON WHY NO CATHOLIC HAS ENTERED HEAVEN"
My question after reading the antagonistic writeup was "who is chasing the windhuh"
Have you ever asked yourself why the Catholic church neveradvertises itself or any of her branches or outlets but yet has the highest number of Christians as a denomination? You question the authority of the Catholic church - you called it a "demonic gathering" but there is a backing that Christ Himself set up this Church you now call a 'demonic gathering'

Read Matt 16:13 - 20. Not even the gate of hell shall prevail over it.

Why has the attention of all churches/ministries turned towards the 'Catholic Church'. Everyone is fighting the Catholic church instead of sin which is the arc enemy to your salvation?
You say they worship Mary and believe in idols for protection and yet you stick the picture of your pastor to your cars and door post as a sign of what? You have believed so much in the power of the enemy of you that your prayer points are always about the enemy. Why carry a handkerchief about in the name of a mantle; thinking you will find more favour? Who ever told you a church sticker will be a saving grace from your enemies? You say Mary has no place in heaven; yes I'll agree with you if you answer my question, have you searched through thewhole bible and not found her place in creation? I bet your answer will be a lopsided yes. But my advice read again.

You say that Catholics don't read the bible but I still don't get this point. Is it that they don't read the bible at all or they don't read and preach about 'The Miracle Working God'. There's a difference between reading the bible objective and also reading the bible subjectively. They read every portion of the bible, every nook and cranny of the bible. From the old testament, through the psalms, to the new testament. If you feel they don't read the 'favouritic' parts of the bible, please don't hang yourself, they have chosen what is right by avoiding to hide the truths of human existence in this temporary dwelling place. "The teachings of the Catholic church are too hard" so you go to where you ears will find it easy to take. Well, never forget Luke 20: 45 - 47 and Luke 21: 34 - 36.

The catholic church's teachings are the teaching of Jesus Himself. Christ never foretold any enjoyment or pleasure while here on earth. He only promised life eternal and joy everlasting in the kingdom of God. Where then do your preachers get their teachings of favor fromhuh Read what Jesus said in Mark 8: 31 – 38 On Sunday the 14th of April 2016, I heard a preacher while in a church service; saying to his members and I quote him: "I want you to unleash your holy anger and pray....". Pleaseread Matt. 5: 21 - 26 and tell me what aspect of anger isholy.
Catholics don't pray; oh yes because they have chosen to adopt the bible standard of praying. Once I heard someone say " catholics need to understand the art of praying violently". I laugh. Read what the bible teaches about prayer in Matt. 6: 5 - 15

Finally, I want to advocate that you leave catholics alone.
They have never come out to criticize any denomination so I wonder why every denomination is against them. All of these
new age shops you call ministries stemmed from the catholic church. If you need to draw people to God, go to where the
gospel of Christ Jesus has not reached and evangelize there. Stop feeding on the work of others.

If you must judge for God, read what the bible says in Matt. 7:1 - 6. Whether Catholics have never and will never make it to heaven or not, it is not your business. Focus on 'your' salvation and ensure you make heaven which you claim belongs to non catholics.

BusinessTeleleology Emerges Preferred Bidder For 9mobile by flex04(op): 12:53pm On Feb 23, 2018
https://www.opinions.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Adrain-Wood-9mobile-Takeover-e1519386288253.png

Teleleology Holdings has emerged as the preferred bidder for Nigeria’s troubled telecom operator 9mobile (formerly Etisalat). This piece of information was confirmed from sources within Teleleology after receiving a letter from Barclays Africa, the Financial Adviser to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on the sale of 9mobile.

Barclay’s letter requires Teleleology to make a non-refundable deposit of $50 million within 21 days of receiving the letter dated 21st February, 2018 or risk losing the bid to the reserve bidder, Smile Holdings Limited.

Teleleology is reported to have made a $500 million bid, while Smile’s bid is believed to be $300 million.

The impending entry of Teleleology is a triumphant return for MTN Nigeria’s former CEO, Adrian Wood, who is the chairman of the new entrant into the Nigerian telecom market. A number of his old colleagues and associates at MTN like Michael Ikpoki and Demola Elesho are believed to be part of his team.

Their combined experience is likely to ensure they complete the takeover of 9mobile but in Nigeria’s highly complex and competitive business and political environment, anything can still happen

TV/MoviesBlack Panther And Wakanda: The ‘mumufication And Mugulization’ Of Africans Cont by flex04(op): 2:18pm On Feb 19, 2018
https://www.opinions.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/DWZCZLHWsAAHAFg.jpgsmall_20180219133447676-670x363.jpg

By Abdulkabir Olatunji

We Africans are being mumufied and mugulized again. You migh be wondering what do these words mean? ‘Mumu’ is a word in Pidgin English that neans a silly unintelligent person and ‘Mugu’ means a person that is easily deceived, call them ‘naive’ if you like. Consequently, ‘Mumufication’ is the process of being made a Mumu while ‘Mugulization’ is the process of being made a Mugu.

Don’t be offended, the last time I checked, I am a full-blooded African.

So, there is this new movie called ‘Black Panther’ in which a very technologically advanced fictional African nation called Wakanda produces a Super Hero, you know; Superman, Spiderman, Ironman, Batman kind of thing. The film also has a largely Black cast and almost all the people that have watched it and those that have not watched it (like me) have been hyping the movie.

Descriptions like; ‘revolutionary’, ‘a moment in time’, ‘refreshing’ have been used by critics and fans in analyzing the film.

However, very few people have understood that the fact that we need to look to Marvel Comics and Hollywood to produce a positive portrayal of African society being technologically advanced is actually a huge part of what is wrong with Africa.

Nollywood, the continent’s biggest film industry from Nigeria could not conceive and successfully deliver it, neither did any other African filmmaking outlet.

Perhaps, more depressing is that there really is no African country close to the kind of technological development that Wakanda represents. “South Africa”, you say? Just look at the recent Jacob Zuma debacle and you know that your point is very contestable.

If it were set in Asia, we could cite cities like Shanghai, Hong Kong as well as countries like Japan, South Korea and Singapore to point to. The same holds for Europe and America. Even South Americans may point to Brazil.

So, what are we to be excited about? That the West has envisioned progress for Africa? A kind of progress we have failed to effectively envision and work to achieve for ourselves?

If you enjoyed the film, that is a personal thing but let us not present it as if it is going to actually change our reality in Africa or as Black people in general. This is something we have to do for ourselves and not outsource to Hollywood or any other external party for that matter.

No movie made in Hollywood will raise our living standards or remove the majority of our people from poverty, we must leave the Wakanda dream or illusion for the reality of good governance that ensures proper education, quality healthcare and infrastructure before we can begin to have a different reality. A Wakanda-like reality in terms of technological development and advancement.
