Lilisticlili:yea I don't know who fed this into you but as an inplayer in the church let me tell u as far I know it is true all parishes sends money to rome, they send a specific percentage to the diocese then from there the journey of a specific percentage finds it way to Rome who said we don't collect tithe...please we gladly do as for the numbers of collections on a Sunday mass there are two factors that affects it, either the parish priest or the stability of the parish financially. Like ma parish two collections here in Lagos any other one is maybe during Thanksgiving, beside I know of a parish here as of last Sunday which I attended they live on one collection And Rome I think have always being de pride of the church that's from my own view please befr quoting me, I tried not to sound like a black man whose head have being washed with religion. so be sincere if at all you want to |

An All-in-One Mobile App to Facilitate One-Stop Shopping For Online Transactions The new lifestyle App enables customers to meet all their daily needs or payments online on just a single App Lagos, Nigeria, 22 March 2018: Africa’s largest e-commerce company Jumia, has announced the launch of Jumia One, a new Android all-in-one lifestyle App that allows customers to conduct all online transactions – such as, Airtime recharge, DSTV & Electricity payments, and access all Jumia services – on just a single App. While making the announcement in Lagos, the new company’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Midy said, “Our mission is to bring every online service in one place and make them easier, more secure and more affordable to everyone.” Jumia One is in line with Jumia’s mission of improving people’s lives through the internet. “We have built a one-stop shop for Africa where people could fulfil their daily needs or payments online on a single App,” added Midy. https://i1.wp.com/www.opinions.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Screenshot_2018-03-21-15-17-52.png?resize=169%2C300 Similarly, the managing director of Jumia One Nigeria, Kushal Dutta noted that small-scale businesses and full-fledged companies can use the App to attract more customers, as it provides them with a free opportunity to download (for customers) and install (for businesses). Dutta stated, “The new App is useful to both customers and entrepreneurs looking to sell everyday goods and services. You can sell or buy airtime, make payments across different banks, pay your church offerings, pay for your betting games or favourite sports, book Uber, pay for internet data, and most importantly, access all Jumia services, be it shopping for grocery or buying gadgets; ordering food online; or booking flights or a hotels.” The icing on the cake, Dutta added, is the fact that customers who purchase airtime on Jumia One App will get instant 5% cash back, and those who choose to make payments through Jumia Pay will get 10% cashback. Commenting on Jumia’s long-term goal for the continent, Midy said, “Hundred of thousands of local African companies are doing businesses on the Jumia platform daily. We are taking the entire economy online and enabling small, medium, and large African companies to find new customers and serve them in a new way.” culled from: http://www.opinions.ng/jumia-launches-jumia-one-app/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |
https://www.opinions.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Ambodes-camapign-poster-in-rubbish-670x854.jpg There is the perception which often reflects reality that our leaders in Nigeria are disconnected from the followers. After severally months of complaints by citizens and different excuses and explanations given by the Lagos state government, many parts of the state are still dirty. Perhaps to accentuate this point, this picture shows how a refuse-laden road median with a lamp pole banner promoting Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for re-election in 2019. In these days of social media, this is most embarrassing to the people of the state, we can at least speak for ourselves. We leave the governor to decide whether or not he is embarrassed by this. source: http://www.opinions.ng/poster-gov-ambode-shares-embarrassing-portrait-refuse/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |
Chelsea fans may still be wondering what hit them after their team got battered 3-0 by Barcelona last night in the 2nd leg of their Round of 16 tie. The Blues lost 4-1 on aggregate after playing 1-1 with the Catalans in the first leg at Stamford Bridge. This brings us nicely to the planned $1 billion reconstruction of Chelsea’s stadium. The final hurdle holding the project down seems to have been overcome as the BBC reports that the Crosthwaite family, Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge neighbours who took out an injunction in May 2017, claiming the expansion of the stadium to 60,000 seats would block light into their home have reached an agreement with club. The current stadium is due for demolition at the end of the 2019/2020 season after which the new stadium is due for construction. What will the new stadium look like? Have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZgSfpWK0jQ What facilities are expected in the new Stamford Bridge? We know the stadium will be a 60,000-seater capacity stadium just like Arsenal’s Emirates. Stadium Database reports: “Aesthetically the stadium has numerous associations with historical architecture, be it residential, sports or sacral. The outer façade will be created by 246 brick columns with crozier decorations between many of them. The monumental structure will also resemble a temple in some ways, while its roof may be considered a tribute to the “sheds” of early 20th century topping stadiums across England. That all said, all elements seem to create a very solid and consistent modern form. “Inside, there will be room for up to 60,000 people divided into three tiers in a roughly symmetric manner (40% / 20% / 40%). The smallest tier will mostly be dedicated to corporate clients, though Chelsea included under 9,000 business seats in their planning applications (previous information suggested many more). The entire floor space of the stadium could be close to 130,000 square meters, spread across 7 floors (4-5 above ground). “Construction would be phased and the project’s beginning is thought to include demolition of Chelsea’s freestanding buildings and the Chelsea Village adjoining the south end. Then the entire stadium would be torn down. Additional excavation, piling and further enabling works would pave way for the main structure of the stadium, that could be put together in just over a year! Altogether the project, along with new surrounding infrastructure, might take under 4 years.” So, there you have it, the new Stamford Bridge might be one of the best stadiums in the world upon completion. This should cheer you up as a Chelsea fan after last night’s disappointment. source: http://www.opinions.ng/see-reconstructed-stamford-bridge-will-look-like-chelseas-new-home/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |
Nigeria is currently Africa’s most populous country and ranked 7th most populous in the world with an estimated population of 200 million people. The question that many are asking is: what will the country’s population be like in the future? The United Nations actively researches and has publications on this and our check of its list of countries by future population (medium fertility variant) indicates a rather startling trend. Here are the top 10 countries expected to have the highest population in the world by 2100: This estimate shows Nigeria is expected to rank as the 3rd most populous country in 2100 with an estimated population of 752 million. The country is projected to reach No.3 ranking in terms of global population in a few decades. The UN explains it thus: “Among the ten largest countries worldwide, Nigeria is growing the most rapidly. Consequently, the population of Nigeria, currently the world’s 7th largest, is projected to surpass that of the United States and become the third largest country in the world shortly before 2050.” This calls for proper planning by the Nigerian government as there seems to be a correlation between expanding population and the rate of poverty. This in addition to climate change is exacerbating insecurity in Nigeria with farmers and herdsmen clashing over diminishing fertile land while a disillusioned and increasingly poor youthful population is getting drawn to terrorism as seen with the emergence of Boko Haram, militancy and other forms of violent and criminal activity across the country. Nigeria’s population if properly managed should be a blessing but so far it has been more of a burden because of poor leadership.

https://www.opinions.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Stephen-Hawking.jpg Professor Stephen Hawking was a renowned British theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology. His writing and teaching about space have had a profound effect on science in the last 50 years. One of his most profound discoveries was Hawking radiation which he outlined in 1974 and it essentially suggests that black holes are not completely dark and emit some form of radiation which is yet to be actually proven by observing it. However, many scientists around the world believe it to be correct and think it is the link to unify Albert Einstein’s theory general relativity with quantum theory. Hawking was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a form of Motor Neurone Disease, shortly after his 21st birthday in 1963. He gradually lost the ability to walk, move and speak over the years but continued to communicate with people with the help of a single cheek muscle attached to a speech-generating device. He died today, 14th March 2018 aged 76 in Cambridge. Incidentally, he was born on 8th January 1942 (exactly 300 years after the death of Galileo) in Oxford. Here is our selection of his top 10 quotes: Stephen Hawkings Top 10 Quotes “At school, I was never more than about halfway up the class. It was a very bright class. My classwork was very untidy, and my handwriting was the despair of my teachers. But my classmates gave me the nickname Einstein, so presumably they saw signs of something better. When I was twelve, one of my friends bet another friend a bag of sweets that I would never come to anything. I don’t know if this bet was ever settled, and if so, which way it was decided.” — From the lecture “My Brief History,” 2010. “If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans. We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet.” — From Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking, 2010. “I have lived with the prospect of an early death for the last 49 years. I’m not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first.” — Interview in The Guardian, May 2011. “People who boast about their IQ are losers.” — Interview in The New York Times, December 2004. “If you are disabled, it is probably not your fault, but it is no good blaming the world or expecting it to take pity on you. One has to have a positive attitude and must make the best of the situation that one finds oneself in; if one is physically disabled, one cannot afford to be psychologically disabled as well. In my opinion, one should concentrate on activities in which one’s physical disability will not present a serious handicap. I am afraid that Olympic Games for the disabled do not appeal to me, but it is easy for me to say that because I never liked athletics anyway. On the other hand, science is a very good area for disabled people because it goes on mainly in the mind. Of course, most kinds of experimental work are probably ruled out for most such people, but theoretical work is almost ideal. My disabilities have not been a significant handicap in my field, which is theoretical physics. Indeed, they have helped me in a way by shielding me from lecturing and administrative work that I would otherwise have been involved in. I have managed, however, only because of the large amount of help I have received from my wife, children, colleagues and students. I find that people in general are very ready to help, but you should encourage them to feel that their efforts to aid you are worthwhile by doing as well as you possibly can.” — From “Handicapped People and Science,” Science Digest 92, No. 9, September 1984 “Life would be tragic if it weren’t funny.” — Interview in The New York Times, December 2004. “The downside of my celebrity is that I cannot go anywhere in the world without being recognised. It is not enough for me to wear dark sunglasses and a wig. The wheelchair gives me away.” — Interview on Israeli TV, December, 2006. “I want my books sold on airport bookstalls.” — Interview in The New York Times, December 2004. “I have lived with the prospect of an early death for the last 49 years. I’m not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first.” — Interview in The Guardian, May 2011. “One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.” — To Diane Sawyer/ABC News, June 2010 Source: Top 10 Quotes of Stephen Hawking as He Dies at 76 cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |
