Politics / Why Do Soldiers Run Away In The North But Retaliate In The South? by floret23(f): 5:32pm On Aug 15, 2023
Whenever Nigeria military men and policemen are attacked by criminal elements in the southern part of this country, these uniform men will go and come back with full force to the community where they were attacked to kill, maim, steal, and destroy. People in such village or area will be displaced for weeks.

However, if the same thing happens in the northern part of this country, these uniform men will abandon the community and run away. It is even the community elders that will be begging them to come back. I have watched a video on Facebook where children, mostly teenagers are threatening soldiers in the North using ordinary sticks and the soldiers carrying guns were helpless.

My questions are;

1. Is Nigeria really one as acountry?

2. What's the reason for the double standard?

3. Is idea of regional army and police not better than the current system?

4. Why are there reported cases police brutality regularly in the south but none in the north?

5. Why are vulnerable people paying for the sins of a few criminals in the South but even criminals are being pampered in the North. Fulani herdsmen, bandits and terrorists are neither arrested nor tried in court. They collect 'ransom' (settlement) in billions from government on regular bases. Why Nigeria?

Now, he has doubled the allocations that every states receive. ( If nothing changes in your state, hold your governor responsible)

Politics / Obasanjo Urges Christians To Join Politics by floret23(f): 2:56pm On Aug 13, 2023
Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Christians to fully participate in politics in order to “purify” the “corrupt” process.

The retired army general made this known during the 57th annual convention and 67th anniversary of The Gospel Faith Mission International held at the Gospel City, Ogunmakin, on Lagos/Ibadan expressway in Ogun state.

Obasanjo, while speaking on the theme, ‘The Roles of the Church in Nation Building at a Time Like This’, said when there is insecurity, hopelessness, poverty, depression, a time that is not conducive to living, the church must rise up to the occasion as the salt of the world.

“The foundation of election in Nigeria is corruption and you cannot make corruption the foundation of anything for it to be good,” Obasabjo said.

Speaking on the 1999 elections that made him a civilian president, Obasanjo said the two first sad experiences he had were during the local government election where the PDP was totally rejected.

“A few days to the election, they said to me where is the money for the police, money for INEC, I said no money, money for DSS.”

Obasanjo noted he did not make money available as he felt all government agencies should have been paid towards discharging their duties.

If Seyi Tinubu and his siblings would lead from the front, I support war against NIGER. It's wrong to send young Nigerians in the army to needless war. They joined the army because they want to feed their family.

Politics / Senate To President Tinubu: “war Is Off The Table For Niger Republic” by floret23(f): 11:43am On Aug 12, 2023
Enioluwa Adeniyi

The lawmaker representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Senator Abdul Ningi, has expressed the need for a joint National Assembly session before deploying Nigerian Armed Forces for war.

He noted that the Senate told President Bola Tinubu to rule out war as part of moves to restore democracy in the Niger Republic.

The lawmaker stated this during an interview on Channels TV.

Ningi emphasized, “He has the right to ask (for permission), but the Constitution has stipulated some conditions. For him to ask the Nigerian Armed Forces to go into war, there needs to be a joint sitting, not only the Senate but the National Assembly.

“He sent us a letter enumerating what is happening in ECOWAS, and we read it, and we told him point blank that war is off the table, deal with other issues.”

Senator Ningi praised ECOWAS for their endeavours to address the political upheaval in the Niger Republic, stating coups are unacceptable, “There is nothing under or above the table that should attract a coup.”

Highlighting the deep-rooted bond between Nigeria and Niger, Ningi observed that both nations are nearly identical, separated only by colonial-era boundaries.

He underscored the closeness by mentioning the use of the naira as legal tender in Niger.

While recognizing the need to address the coup, Ningi advocated for solutions beyond military intervention.

Politics / US Accused Of Double Standards Over President Tinubu’s Academic Records by floret23(f): 4:44pm On Aug 11, 2023
ABUJA, Nigeria — Timi Frank, a vocal political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has lambasted the United States for allegedly exhibiting double standards concerning the release of Chicago State University academic records of Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu.

“Actions taken seriously in the US turn into a farce when it concerns Nigeria,” Frank declared, urging President Tinubu to permit the US university to unveil his academic documents to a Nigerian court, provided he has no skeletons in his academic closet.

The rising tension stems from a recent legal move. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar sought President Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University.

Yet, only days after the court’s subpoena, Tinubu counteracted with a motion aimed at restraining the court from disclosing his academic details.

Frank expressed grave concern, stating, “It’s shocking that a sitting President, who vowed to maintain the office’s dignity, would aim to muzzle the U.S. judiciary through frivolous tactics unknown to their Justice department.”

Drawing parallels to the rigorous justice system in the U.S., he referenced former U.S. President Donald Trump’s extensive legal scrutiny, questioning why Tinubu wasn’t held to a similar standard.

“If Trump’s information is divulged by agencies like the CIA and FBI, why is the US aiding potential secrecy in Nigeria?”

Frank further emphasized, “When a subpoena is issued, it demands respect. For those who aspire to lead Nigeria, scrutiny by Nigerians is the least expected.”

Casting doubts on U.S. objectivity, he pointed out that when it comes to America’s interests, they “underplay matters that would never be downplayed in their own land,” jeopardizing their credibility in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

President Tinubu’s reluctance to disclose his academic information, arguing U.S. privacy laws from 1974 protect him, has raised eyebrows and stirred debate over his real identity and qualifications.

Frank concluded by asserting faith in the U.S. justice system, expressing hope for a fair and transparent judicial proceeding.

“All eyes are on the U.S. as this unfolds. A clear resolution could restore faith in international transparency and trust.”
