My Visa was approved on Monday morning. After the first denial. I scheduled for August 8 I used the same old DS-160 and I was turned back. I believe everything works for a reason and God favored me after paying the third visa fee. Thank you to everyone that scolded me after my first interview. I went back did a research on the school and contacted @Lagosismyhome I forwarded my revised transcript and she was glad to effect some changes to it, after roasting me on the phone saying I bleeped up. Lol But I didn't shy away from her scolding. Contacted walspring a day to my interview, baba ginger me gave me some hints also. God bless everyone that have contributed to the thread.
No document was asked just my passport and I-20. Was interviewed by a young lady who had glasses on.
Me: Good morning VO: {No response} Pass me your passport and I-20 VO: where are you going to in the US Me: I'm going to the university of Maine, Orono. V0: Who's paying for this ? Me: My father VO:What does he do He is a medical doctor and the CEO of ......... Hospital. VO: your dad owns a clinic? Me: Yes, he owns a hospital. VO: Where is the hospital located? Me: ........ Lagos. VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: I applied to two other schools, Arkansas state Uni and the University of Kansas, VO:Why did you choose this school? Me:I chose the University of Maine becaause they offer undergraduate's mentorship research opportunities which was my basis for selecting an institution, As I would love to be a competent and practicing clinical laboratory scientist and medical technologist when I return to Nigeria. Also, Going through the Faculty Webpage of UMainle I found an undergraduate research opportunity in Dr. Francis Drummond research where volunteers are needed for modelling the population dynamics {VO looking at me surprised} of insects/pathogen and insect/predators. VO: What year did you finish your diploma? Me: I finished my first diploma in 2011. VO: and the second? Me: And my second diploma in 2014. VO: What course did you study? My first diploma was science laboratory technology and my second diploma Second was environmental health technology. VO: Did you take any exam? Me; yes, SAT and TOEFL VO: when did you take the SAT test? Me: January 23, this year VO: what was your score? Me: 1580 VO: why are you not doing medical technology here? Me: The Nigeria school curriculum focuses more on the theoretical part and does not offer hands on research opportunities that gives detailed knowledge for my preferred course. VO: what year did you Finish school? Me: my high school? VO: yes Me: I finished in 2008 VO: it says here you have a diploma in science laboratory technology, does it mean they don't offer medical technology in Nigeria? Me: There are schools that offer Medical Technology here, but the Nigeria school curriculum focuses more on the theoretical part and does not offer hands on research opportunities that gives detailed knowledge for my preferred course. VO: What do you want to do after graduation? ME: I will return home to my dad's hospital to utilize the knowledge and research skills i have acquired in the US. I aim to work very closely with him and contribute our quota to a healthier Nigeria. VO: did you do Germs? Me: yes VO: when? Me: in my first diploma VO: your visa have been approved................ |

OluDare01: Contact you school, they would give you the best advice. I did mine here in Nigeria MMR varicella and skin TB test, filled the health form and sent them a scanned copy only after they told me what to do. You might wanna explore this option |

Thank you quote author=Chinewon88 post=47990767]Flosslive, feels great to know you're interested in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. That drew my attention. All you need is a little homework, and your interview is an opportunity to lecture your interviewer. Find out about your school's CLS research strong points and try to ascertain if they tick the boxes for you, with regards to what interests you about diagnostic medicine. I do not see lack of interest in you, from your interactions on here. You'll get it right this time. All the best.
NB: Find answers. That's probably what you're going to be doing with this degree.
Please, guys, I just dey come from zenith bank where I found out I can't pay for my WES evaluation with my Mastercard. What other options do I have?
|

Thank you. I do know about the course but I never asked about a research been done in the school in relation to my course. I will do that. Thank you quote author=Walspring post=47964815] This is a wrong thought my brother.. It seems you don't know anything about your course at all.. If you thinking you don't want to talk about research how about the research the school does that is related to your course one way or the other Did you check your school departmental or faculty website to know more about your school and course If not you need to do that and research well about your school and course as well
|

Can I call you please? LagosismyHome: That your first misconception if you feel research is for only those going for masters program ......... when i mean research it doesn't mean you are discovering the cure of HIV , but simple stuff in relation to the first degree and its application to Nigeria .
That gives a more in depth into your future goals than saying student faculty ratio
Also see the course you are going for , it has a good element of research. : undergraduate degree in clinical laboratory science and medical technology. So if you dont want to talk about research then hummmmm maybe you need more homework on this degree and its application |
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 9 by Flosslive: 12:00pm On Jul 28, 2016 |
I'm 24. I don't want to talk research, because I'm not going for a masters programme LagosismyHome: Sorry for your delay ........ The VO gave you feedback and it lies in your answers , nothing stood out and that last on in bold is a BIG NO NO ....with your course there is so much to talk about from a research perspective and linking it up with Nigeria and the value u can bring lateron. For the VO to keep saying rehearsed speech , he or she was giving you an opportunity to redeem with the next question but it never came
That faculty ratio thing needs to go , why do people still say that . It is a standard in almost all schools so doesn't set any school apart ....... why you choose a school is what set it apart from others or what is unique to that program that interest you .. Also going for undergrad you have to be within a certain age range ..... How old if you dont mind me asking ? |

VISA delayed this morning
Me: Good Morning VO: Good Morning, pass me your passport and I-20 VO: how did you learn about university of Maine. Me: l used google for my search which in turn introduced me to Peterson guide. Peterson database includes over 50,000 accredited schools (cuts in) VO: you are giving me a rehearsed speech I don't want that. VO: why did you choose te university of Maine? Me: I applied to three schools I was offered admission into all. I chose the university of Maine cos I was given my preferred course of study. VO: cuts in again you are giving me a rehearsed speech.
VO: why did you choose university of Maine? Me: UM has one of the lowest student to faculty ratio of 16:1 which gives me easy access to my professors and it's affordable by my sponsor. VO: says you know what Let's just continue Do you have any relatives in the US? Me: No Types for a while and gives me the blue paper.
Please guys, I am going for an undergraduate degree in clinical laboratory science and medical technology. What could be wrong with my answers?
I intend on getting another appointment or next week ,my schools resumes 23rd of August
Thanks guys. |
