Houston has been good with friendly weather. We stay in an accommodation in stafford less than 40 dollars per night. The place is beautiful no complaints so far, unlike the reviews we saw online as husby was very skeptical about the place. Oyibo people can exaggerate when giving reviews. Just 10minutes to doctors appointment. Tvegas is right don't run so many tests cos you will still redo some. Cabs are very expensive so without a car it's very difficult to move around. To even get through to cabs is wahala you'll call endlessly. One of the cab companies start 7am and close 10pm so if labour starts outside this hours hmmmm. To rent a small car with insurance for 2months is more than $3000. We got a Nigerian guy that does rental package for car. You can rent at a minimum fee and drive yourself after paying for a monthly insurance if you've got international license or you can choose the option of being driven anytime you want. We got a car today and hubby had insurance done and drove it today. So my advice if you coming to Houston without a solid arrangement for transportation, you will not find it funny. I no be marketer oooh.

Reporting live from Houston.

Got in through Atlanta this morning, POE was smooth. The immigration officer just asked me how many weeks are you here for? When are you due? How much cash do you have? And he stamped me in for 6 months. I was just wondering if this is the much dreaded POE. Didn't spend more than 5 minutes with him.I went to baggage to claim my bag and as I was exiting the door a CBP lady took me for secondary inspection. Those guys are not smiling and not in a hurry to check bags. The queue was long, when it got to my turn the guy asked me how much cash I had I told him over 10k. He said why and I said for child delivery, if I had consulted a doctor and then asked me to fill the declaration form. After that he sent me to a lady searching bags. She passed the bags through the xray machine and behold it went through. I was given a clearance form and they bade me farewell as I went to join my flight to Houston. Thanks to all whose advice had helped me have a successful entry.

I did a pap smear test in US for $160, I think this test covers all the screening including cancers! I hope this helps. I never got a call back for my results, only a call from walgreen to pick up drugs for blood pressure, so I guess I am all cleared!
Thanks sis. I went to several labs, they don't do the chlamydia culture. The one I eventually called this morning said it's 35k while the gonorrhea culture is 1500. I Don't want to pay 35k and repeat it again in the US. That was my reason for asking.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Flowers: 10:13am On Nov 24, 2014
Hello, I will like to find out if anyone did a chlamydia and gonorrhea culture tests in the US and how much is it? Or how much does it cost to do it in Nigeria?

I think there is an increase in the number of people going to the US now and using Houston POE since this thread has been discoverd and its getting to them like the letter from doctores para ti is irritating the V0s and so they just use any excuse to send people back. They have even heard of nairalandhuh?? With this awoof ticket many preggos will still be heading there so na to just declare prayer and fasting

Phema:
Trust me, Philadelphia is a no go POE for preggers too. Two of our old time mamas on this thread went through there and had stories that touch. The Officers in both places (Houston and Philly) were specially trained in witchcraft.
A friend just entered Philly yesterday for child delivery, she had her first child in the US and went with her receipts. They gave her a hell of problem coupled with her little child that was just crying and so tired. May God help us ooo.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Flowers: 8:55pm On Oct 26, 2014
There are different people on this thread.
1. People that are here to contribute positively and offer words of advice
2. People that are here to cause chaos by comparing hospitals
3. Lazy people that just send PMs to peoples email and do not bother reading or researching but asking repeated questions
4. Marketers and agents that disguise as pregnant women
5. People that just come to ask questions, get info and travel but refuse to contibute by sharing their stories but come back again when they have problems or issues.
6. Silent readers that won't contribute or ask questions
7. People that add fuel to fire when there is any arguement

And so on. @Tvegas: you are loved by so many and I am one of those that look forward to your comments cos they are just on point. My two kobo to you is to be calm and reply does that call out to u. Like @ Phema pointed out sometime ago its just best to ignore certain posts.
Many people are now gurus on this thread and they do not mind if this thread do not exist again.

I have joined the 95k train. Dancing dorobucci now with my big tummy. Let me share my testimony like Tvegas. @Merrymom and @Phema sorry ooooo. I booked an Emirate ticket for Dallas in June @ 253k for me, husby and daughter. when a friend told me about Dr. Fagbohun which was way cheaper than the Dallas hospital I went to change my ticket to Houston for $60 each. Now with a direct flight for 95k somebody praise the lord with me. Does anyone know how much commission Emirate will collect for refund? Or can I postpone the ticket for a later date for next summer?

Please i need answer to this question sweet momas:
is 10k dollars the maximum BTA one can have on himself (per individual)?
can i have 10k dollars and my wife will have her own 10k dollars? is it an offence or crime?
we want to travel with at least 18k cash. just talk to us and advice. Thanks
18k cash hmmmm. For security purpose me I think its too much cash to carry around. 10k not a crime for an individual but you have to declare it by filling a form.
Tvegas:
Both of you sabi jump queue chai, abeg wait and let's hear from the poster naa? Perhaps you and me will learn fresh reasons why people can be sent back. Have grabbed a stool on this one, you people should not spoil the show for me. Go and line up. grin

quote author=Tvegas post=27242223]However, you should give detailed reasons you were turned back from Houston so that others can learn. Did you lie at your previous interview? Did you try to hide your pregnancy at POE? Did you travel with sufficient cash to prove that you can pay the bills?
It's not sufficient to tell people to be truthful without telling them the type of truth you mean. The dreaded Houston Customs and Border patrol won't turn you back without a genuine reason so some clarity is needed. Thanks.
MerryMom:
We all know why they cancel Visa/deport na, don't we?
@ Merrymom: we do
@ Tvegas: All your questions are on point.

A lady came to me that she's travelling to New Jersey next month to give birth and her POE will be Atlanta. She said she will just show them her card at the POE since her brother who she will be staying with will be sponsoring her. I told her this is a good case of refusal. When she asked me how much she could take with her as cash I told her $9k. She shouted haha its too much so I asked her how much the hospital bill and doc is she said $6k. Some people are the reason why they are refused and the impression she is giving is that she is not financial capable hence may resort to medicaid. When they refuse them they won't tell people the truth or reason. Anyone that is a regular and faithful reader of this thread that abides by right advice should not have a problem.
last month i was refused entry to the USA at the George Bush Airport in Houston and turned back at 28 weeks pregnant and my visa cancelled, i reapplied and the good Lord intervened and my visa was granted without much hassle… i travelled again at 38 weeks (risky i know) smiley[/quote

Congrats for the safe delivery of your baby. Kindly tell us the reason why you were refused entry at the POE in Houston? This can help someone in the future. Also you said you were 28 weeks last month September by this time of this month October the calculation should be between 32 and 33 weeks and not 38 weeks. Just thinking........

Hi dear, that's a lot for 3 tests 92,950 naira. That means you did the Rubella titer in Nig. I'll try and do as many as I can and leave just the ones for 37 weeks which will be done there.
pls in asked of anyone who has used Dr Duc Le of sugarland? I need info on accommodation around that area.

I intend staying in sugarland but would be using Oakbend in Richmond. You can check online you'll get between 1,200 and 1300 per month for a one bedroom apartment while some go for as much as 1500 to 1700. They are furnished and come with some community amenities like gym, swimming pool, school pick up bus, business centre etc.

I share major1p view,You've opened similar threads elsewhere so why start it here? I noticed how you use foul words on members on other threads which shows immaturity those who patronise you can do so at their own risk anyways.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Flowers: 8:11am On Sep 16, 2014
oawele: Dont blame any body, the prize is the cheapest you can get any where in the states.... even cheaper that some hospitals in Nigeria. Mind you its not only Nigerians that patronises the Mat package.
Anyways when one door closes another door will open.
Nita2013: Hi Flowers, sorry if I may sound rude but what do u mean by Nigerians can over do things. Everyone is trying to save cost please. Do u av an idea of pple goin to Elpaso b4 Vivianoobas(Godd bless her) discovered MIHS. Will u see something of 3000usd with good service but rather go for d one of 10,000usdhuh
MIHS is just overwhelmed by d pple trooping in as they barely had this kind of crowd b4 and it's so obvious they can't handle it and thus feel d best option is to increase d price. Even if d price is increased and still affordable pple will troop there.
As for accommodation, pls be informed that it's not Nigerians that causes d increase. In d whole of US, phoenix has d best weather when it comes to winter (October-April) thus pple from other state especially d old ones relocate to phoenix during winter thus d hike in accommodation. Also be informed that d much talked about super bowl would be in phoenix February 2015 so accommodation would even go higher.
People made research and lots of it for that matter. If u were here b4 d NL crash, then u would know that enough research was done and it's still been done. If MIHS like they increase d price, pple will still flock there
My point was just that for anything in biz, the higher the demand for it thje higher the price. Nigerians over doing thing I mean is that some people just come to the forum and flow with the crowd without any research. Just asking questions and questions without even reading the forum. Am not here to trade words with anyone. Some people are just rude.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Flowers: 6:08am On Sep 16, 2014
oawele: I went to MIHS and was able to meet with one of the business services manager. She said the maternity package is currently under review and during the review period which is supposed to be concluded by 1st of October, 2014 they will no longer be scheduling or issuing appointments to patients.
Those that already have appointment scheduled between now and 1st of Oct can still come in, they would be paying the normal cost. However, those with appointments scheduled for 1st of Oct onwards will be paying the reviewed prize irrespective of when you got your appointment.
Tried to find out what the review would look like but she didn’t have an idea, maybe se didnt want to say.
This one is a typical case of the higher the demand the higher the price. Nigerians can over do things. If you know the number of women going to Mihs you go fear. Even the accommodation rate of the apartments will increase with time. People should try and make individual effort to search for a hospital.
