CoCoLav: The city of Ottawa offers free furniture to new immigrants. You must have been referred by one of the immigration partners such as a church or other organization.
IKEA is pricey but also remember that you can sell it off for 70% of the price even after extensive use if you buy quality. Try not to go cheap on mattress, sometimes it's not worth it. But stuff like TVs, end tables and coffee tables sure. You can also get these stuffs by joining the Facebook groups. Most people don't post on kijiji but on Facebook groups so it's safer to buy a mattress and couch from someone you can put a face to. I buy most of my stuff at ridiculously cheap prices from the FB groups...you can see a nice couch for $20-40 or a sectional for $150. Great information. Thanks! Please what is the name of the FB groups? |

40manlappy: Finally, ITA arrived for my wife!
Just when we were gradually accepting the reality of waiting for the next draw, God showed us His favour. For a journey that started with our first IELTS in December 2014, we give Him all the glory.
Thanks to this wonderful e-family for the encouragement, kind words and support. May God grant all your wholesome hearts' desires in Jesus' name, Amen!
Like Bimpsy99 stated earlier, still feels like a dream...

VisaOfficer: This sometimes happens if you go "back" or "reload" before completing the form. Try again from the beginning and see if that works. If it doesn't, write us at LagosIV@state.gov.
Regards, VO Thanks for your response. I have completed the form now and I have another question. Can I submit the form online now or wait till maybe a day before the interview? Please note that the interview is scheduled for mid February. It is an SB 1 visa interview. Thanks |

Hello VO. I have an SB1 interview scheduled for February and I was supposed to complete DS260 form. I started filling the form and saved the details for later completion. However coming back to the form, after inputting case number and date of birth, an error message comes up which makes it unable to proceed with completion of the form. Please what could be the issue and how can it be resolved.
See error message attached.

Beem4cupid: @flyhigh, what kind of connections do you have in Ontario. Kindly enlighten us for those of UA planning to go through that route. We created EE profile December last year and January this year,Ontario asked us to apply (as was done for people that had over 400). They finally responded this month asking for some information after which we were nominated. |

vcole: I do not think a gift deed is necessary. Just a simple letter of explanation stating that you did transfer the funds (your personal funds) to meet the funds requirement for your family size. Thanks vcole for your response |

Hello All, thanks to everyone keeping the thread alive with valuable information. Please I need clarity. We were asked to send some documents which account statement is part of. Thing is money in my husband account is currently not up to the required amount so I transferred money from my account to his account to make up the required amount. My question is do we need to write the letter(gift something- not really sure what it is)? I am asking because the money is from husband to wife and the wife has proof of having the money.
Vcole, dupyshoo, Jesustheway and every other person on this thread, please respond.
Thanks |

LagosNIV: She will need to apply for returning resident status - it will be determined whether or not she is granted this status at the interview. Thanks for your response. Please I have checked the immigrant visa section on your website but can't see where to apply for returning resident visa(SB1). I only saw K1 visa type. Please where can I apply for this visa(schedule an appointment)? Please direct me to the right place. Thanks |

Hello VO. Kindly advise.
My brother(a US citizen) invited my mum over to the US some years ago. She later got her permanent residency. However due to an emergency, she had to quickly come to Nigeria for a short visit but later fell ill and had to stay in Nigeria for about 5 years. Now she wants to go back to US and we don't know what to do. The expiry date on her card is 2018. Can she just buy ticket and go to the US? Someone said she can't use the card anymore and the status is expired. Is it true? Does she need to go apply for another visa? If yes, what type of visa? Also what type of documents does she need to show during the interview. She still has her work cards.
Please respond. Thanks |
