salford1: You are welcome boss. I have been following this discussion and it has been really interesting and informative. My question is, how easy is it for one to learn/cope going into skilled trade especially for one that has no previous experience whatsoever? Any issues with females going into this field? Any other information one needs to know before thinking of this career path? Thanks |

zengurl: My candid advice,
Do not bother with the FRSC Letter. It is better you get the G2 drive for a while and understand their driving rules. It is way different from Nigeria. If you are lucky and they waive G2 the probability of you failing the G drive test is 90% and you will spend more.
Please if you disagree, remember it is my candid advice - not for everyone. If you know you know. I will advise anyone that can get the letter to get it as they won’t need any letter from Ottawa and you get G2 waived and you go straight to G. If you have been driving in Nigeria, passing the G is not difficult. You can take few driving classes(just few) so you learn the signs and all that and you will pass the G once. Also this is for Ontario. I don’t know about other provinces. |

trishachi: Ok. That's good to know thanks. And did you have to declare what it was or it need to be done covertly?
There is no law against posting PR cards right? Hello, I declared because I asked and they checked and told me it is allowed so it wasn’t hidden. |

CanadianEnginee: I can give you instances but I would like to understand why you or vcole feel that ladies are regarded less in nigeria even with all the preferential treatment they get in Nigeria. Yes, in Nigeria. Please sir/ma, Nigeria is a country where women don’t have a voice. It is so hard being a woman in Nigeria. |

olajide21: Mails leaving Canada go through scanners. The scanner might reveal the card and it might be confisticated. I heard there is a way you can write an authorisation letter or /and send it via USA. Don't how easy/ true this is.
@mummyjaygirls when are you landing? Thanks olajide21. It is the fear of it being confiscated that is making me ask. |

yimiton: I eventually got a place. Booked for 10 nights. It seemed perfect until I paid and noticed there's no kitchen! Now, I'm thinking I have to cancel but the other options are so expensive. Sorry about that. Maybe you should cancel. I think you should keep searching as other people cancel and you get what you want or as another senior advised, check kijiji. |

yimiton: I seem to be having challenges with Airbnb too.
I plan to book 2 weeks (14 days) and I used the filter to narrow the search to suit our budget, but it would appear that my choices are gone even before the hosts respond to me. Is it possible that they're intentionally blocking off my preferred dates?
Their policy say they're race, colour and bla bla bla blind.
Have you also noticed that most of the reviews are left by other races? No black reviewers in there. I don't know if they are intentionally blocking the dates but not sure about that (I may be wrong). We booked Airbnb too and it was tough getting a place based on our budget and dates so we had to adjust dates. We had planned on booking for 2 weeks but couldn't get a place we liked because they were either fully booked or some days in between were booked so we ended up booking one week and the place was very good. |

Blackbuddy: Yes indeed, I used kijiji, 4rent.ca and a host of other online sources. I would find the vacancies that met my spec, call the landlord/building manager and tell them straight on the phone that I'm a landed PR, skilled professional with my family and looking for accommodation. I told them as it was upfront so that those who don't like my 'profile' can just tell me not to bother to come. For those who did not mind, I made appointment to go see them, discuss the vacancy and inspect the place. That was how I met my building manager, she saw I and my wife, heard about our professional backgrounds and she said you are the sort of people I need in my building. This was after numerous earlier disappointments at other places but you have to approach this like applying for a job or going for interview. Some won't work out but one surely will so don't take it personal but keep moving. I agree wholeheartedly, you can make it! Just to add a little to what Senior blackbuddy has said. Some landlords will rent out if you tell them you can/will pay cash for maybe some months and some will just need proof that you really do have the money so they can ask to see bank statement so they see you actually have money in the account. With that, they will rent out. |

Is it true that we can't get PTA with one way booking?
Zenith Bank just told us that we need a return ticket to get PTA, is it the same with the other banks? You can get PTA from Access bank with your one way ticket and your PR visa. |

[quote author=nkigirl post=59966718]You have a couple of options here You can travel with your infant car seat as hand luggage. Some international airlines allow it and you can even strap it in on the airplane seat and the baby sleeps in it. You can also make inquiries about renting a car at the airport when you land and renting a car seat along with it. Some rental companies offer this service and I have done this before but in America. Another option is to get someone to pick you up from the airport and buy an infant car seat as they are coming to pick you up, so that you can use it. You can always return it back to the store afterwards if it's not exactly what you want.
It is compulsory that children below a certain age must be strapped in when they are in a moving vehicle. If you want to risk the short ride from the airport to the store to buy a car seat, well..I don't know much about that. Maybe you can get away with it. And if you are stopped, you can show them your landing papers (you just landed)
All the best
Thanks |

Hello
I want to find out if it is compulsory to travel with my baby's infant car seat. She is 1+ and her legs are already longer than the seat but I have intention of buying toddler seat when we land. So my question is can I drop this infant seat here and not travel with it? Is it compulsory when taking a taxi from the airport or other transportation for the baby to be strapped in? At least for first few weeks.
Landed seniors, please help. Trying to reduce too much load. |

Dear E-family, finally received the much awaited PPR!
I can't explain my joy. It has been a very long journey. Entered the pool January 2016 with crs of 432(I think) and got Ontario nomination and accepted because the draw score was quite high then. We submitted Ontario application January our application was finally approved December 2016(one full year). We got ITA December and submitted our application January 2017. AOR 20th January. Got ADR February, submitted and since then status has been not applicable. Ordered GCMS and realized our application was been processed in London. When we completed six months we sent a mail( thanks to greetings for the sample), we got another ADR. This time requesting for military records because my husband mistakenly ticked yes to that NYSC related question. Thanks to ugoiyke79e who responded to someone who also had same issue, we submitted copies of nysc discharge certificate, nysc call up letter and a letter of recommendation from one of officer in charge of the military school (because he served as a teacher in the military school) and a LOE explaining our mistake and stating he didn't serve in military. After submitting, we sent another mail telling them we have submitted the documents they requested for and this afternoon, my husband got a mail for him to check his box and behold, PPR. I thank God it all ended in praise. This thread has been so informative and I thank everyone for their contributions. It is very very important to read as you will get answers even before you ask.
Like to acknowledge some people for their good work here. JesusDway, duppysho, vcole, zandora, 40manlappy, boldinc, ehrnie, mummyjaygirls(funny woman) and all others too numerous to mention. God bless you all.
PS. The PPR mail didn't indicate where to send passports to, is it strictly Accra? Am I to print the imm form and send alongside the passports? |

rofemiguwa: Someone gifted us a pair of foreign pampers pull up. Before we used it for 2 weeks it gave us severe big big rashes. I have discontinued the pampers but the rashes r stubborn.majority of them have refused to resolve. We used shea butter, zinc n castor oil cream, baking soda in warm bath. Some have gone.the rest is still there. We change every 4hours wet or not.change poo immediately and also use cloth diapers
Please smeone said i should try vista cream.its antifugal cream like skineal.pls is it advisable for babies.
Pls dont read n pass. Save my baby fine bumbum Sorry about the rash. What I used when my baby had serious rash was combination of some things. Put ground Quaker Oats/oatmeal and baking powder in warm water in big rubber/bath and let baby sit with her bum in the water for some minutes. Then wipe dry and rub coconut oil on her bum and wear her diapers. I don't use baby wipes at all. Just those little washcloth. So when baby poo, I mix few drops of apple cider vinegar with normal water and put the washcloth in the water to clean her bum. Very important to change diaper frequently and as much as possible, try to air baby bum. Hope this helps. |

If i got nominated by Ontario while in the express entry pool and got ITA, is my application FSW-O or PNP-O? You are PNP-O |
