I see you want an Umahi/Tambuwal ticket in 2023.

Even as I feel Dave is eminently qualified, don't you think Obi/Tambuwal ticket will do Nigeria greater good?
I have my reservations that I don't want to say publicly.

Establish cinema for who?

For my farmer brothers and sisters?

The shopping mall that Roban built in Abakaliki, I don't know if they make profit sef.

Now it's cinema.

I understand Umahi wants to attract good things life to Ebonyi which is what will attract visitors to Ebonyi but I don't know if cinema should be a priority.

Attract investments that will employ Ebonyians not something that will drain their scarce resources.
They do. They would have shut down if they don't. Besides I can tell they do since my home is just 12minutes walk from Roban stores. I pass there everytime I drive to and back from town. In evenings especially Roban is stuffed with cars all over their parking lots.

It's laughable you think a cinema won't provide jobs to youths. People will operate them, people will secure them. People will be employed bro. Welcome all positive things no matter their magnitude. The real large investors will dip in their money when smaller investors have keyed into the state. It is always 1 before 2. Be calming down.

With our mentality, average people barely patronise cinemas....Except to go there to take pictures.
cinema hasn't been here before so you can't tell. The location of that cinema will be very strategic, close to alex ekwueme university, very close to international market and the presco campus for medical students. It's literally in the heart of abakaliki with close proximity to tertiary students who will flock there-in especially once ASUU strike is called off. Go roban every evening and see full car parks. Especially before the pandemic.

issa good thing cheesy To be honest this is the first cinema that will be coming to Abakaliki. But we shouldn't look at the timing but rather welcome the newest arrival, for it signifies process and a step in the right direction under governor Dave.

Investors should come to ebonyi now, really. There is top infrastructure, good night life and general safety in the state, especially in abakaliki. People will be willing to spend. I've seen Roban stores and Apams establish their location in the state capital recently and it has been going well.
PoliticsSilverbird Group To Establish Cinema Outlet In Ebonyi by flyingpig(op): 1:21pm On Sep 23, 2020
The Silverbird Entertainment Group says it plans to establish cinema outlets in Ebonyi by December 2020 to meet the demands of the anticipated Christmas ‘crowd’.

Mr Guy Murray-Bruce, President of the Silverbird Group, made the pronouncement on Tuesday during a business forum organised by the Ebonyi government for chief executives of business conglomerates across the country among other economic and social stakeholders.

Murray-Bruce commended Gov. David Umahi for his massive infrastructural strides and acknowledged that such strides and the favourable business climate attracted the group to invest in the state.

“The group finds in Ebonyi, everything it needs to operate as the people are peaceful, loving and generally great people".

“We plan to be in Ebonyi, bring cinemas to the shopping mall which is the biggest mall I have seen in West Africa. I do not know how the governor did it as we were thrilled to see the beautiful street lights in Abakaliki, runways, general aesthetics and saw at least, 1,000 people working at the mall, day and night,” he said.

He said the group will install cinema screens of 100×75, 100×35 seaters at the mall and establish its interest in television and radio.

“We intend to bring ‘box to boxes’ around to world to Abakaliki as we are the pioneer of modern cinema services in Nigeria with reach across Liberia, Ghana among others. Ebonyi is a state of about three million people with 70 per cent of the population being of youthful age which effectively drives the economy of any given society."

Responding, Umahi expressed delight for Silverbird’s planned investment in the state and its rating that the Ebonyi international shopping mall was the best in West Africa.

Umahi also commended the businessmen of Igbo extraction in Lagas especially those from the Computer Village for accepting to invest in the state, stating that they demonstrated the real Igbo spirit.

“We have offered to provide necessary assistance to them (computer village businessmen) and decided to reduce the rates at the shopping mall because of their interest."

“We have also reserved the biggest edifice at the state’s Centenary city Abakaliki for the Silicon University which complies with vision of the computer village businessmen,” he said.

Umahi urged investors to disregard reports on the social media and invest in the state as they would enjoy the best of security, peace and overall conducive business environment.

HRH Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha urged Ebonyi citizens to continue supporting the governor in consolidating on his strides which had actually uplifted their wellbeing and enhanced the state’s rating. Chief Nnia Nwodo, President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Socio-Cultural Organisation, urged the  Igbo residing outside the region to invest in states in the zone and also propagate the indigenous language anywhere they are.

Not having a license is not the cause of the crash because it does not mean that he does not know how to operate the plane. Many pilots for Pakistan non get license yet they non de crash plane.
If you read the story, one of the license they are talking about expired in August and was probably not renewed because of the lockdown, not like the guy suddenly forgot how to fly when his license expired. License expiring is an administrative procedure, but the question is why did the chopper crash? How did a chopper with no capacity to discharge fuel mid air end up with no fuel after it was claimed to have refilled.
Just my no-aviation competence thoughts
Good observation sir

HealthRe: Have You Experienced Ulcer Or Acid Reflux Before? by flyingpig: 11:20am On Sep 19, 2020

I did exactly this in the initial stage of my ulcer. The first time I had it. I sipped it every in the morning like it were coffee.

Guess what? It didn't work. Maybe it relieve me without me paying attention it, possibly. But total cure? It wasn't that effective. Hence I stopped.
Wow! To be honest I didn't notice that acid reflux every 6-7am in the morning for almost 5months cause I remember i did that therapy around april this year and only started noticing its return last August.

I can't explain its mechanism but Google even supports that ginger have anti-ulcer ingredients. I don't know why yours returned to be honest. Are you sure it was actually ulcer? I think you should go for medical diagnosis.
HealthRe: Have You Experienced Ulcer Or Acid Reflux Before? by flyingpig: 11:07am On Sep 19, 2020
I blended garlic, ginger and mixed it with a cup of water, then heated the mixture to boil. I poured it out into a cup, added some spoons of original honey. Then allowed the hot mixture to cool from hot to warm temperature. Then I sipped it. I did this every morning and night for four days.

It took about five months after before my ulcer returned, obviously because I relapsed to the habits that triggered them. But i have firm believe that that therapy cured me.

Garlic, ginger, honey. Boiled and sipped twice daily for four days. That was my ulcer and gastric reflux therapy.

Some don't. I have friends that won't even enter Nigeria. They'll go to Ghana and fly relatives in from Nigeria. Some return in caskets.
This is very hilarious. I think it is a matter of choice. Nigeria failed them so they don't owe Nigeria anything to be honest. USA gave them the opportunities to prosper and lead meaningful lives, something Nigeria denied them. Coming back here to retire I believe is a matter of choice. But to be honest, if I earn a certain wage in Nigeria, I would gladly live here, and do the following.

Pìmp my home to my taste
Fly abroad to treat ailments
Afford to tour beautiful parts of Nigeria and buy anything I want in malls
Help the needy around me
Eat anything I want, even Chinese cuisines.

So, like I said. Retiring home is a matter of choice and not an obligation. But for me, I will choose to retire here regardless of what I go to USA or Canada to see and use.

TravelRe: Advice about moving To Nigeria by flyingpig: 10:40am On Sep 19, 2020
EgunMogaji2:
Thanks for the mention.

Personally I cannot in good faith recommend that anyone should move to Nigeria. You should move to Nigeria because that's is where you want to be, not based on recommendation from someone else.

DO NOT MOVE TO NIGERIA IF:

You need uninterrupted electricity.

You need safe pipe borne water.

You need hygienic waste management system.

You are anxious about safety.

You need a government with clear policies.

CONSIDER MOVING TO NIGERIA IF:

You fancy yourself as the early Americans who came in killed all the Indians, took their lands and became overlord. Pretty drastic statement I know but to survive in Nigeria you need to be near ruthless. Not unlawful but ruthless. It has been my experience that being seen as kind, generous, caring is taken as a sign of weakness and a mumu.

To OP:

I was born in Nigeria and grew up here till I finished poly.

I retired back to Nigeria 18 months ago after 33 years in the USA. As an American citizen i could pretty much move to almost any country in the world and live there successfully on my retirement income. I chose to come back to Nigeria because frankly I love Nigeria and I could give my little means back to the country that gave me so much.

There hasn't been one day that I didn't wish I returned much earlier as Nigeria is good, very good, to me. This is much to the chagrin of most on here whop sees Nigeria as nothing but a death wish. I suppose I could share there macabre ideology about Nigeria if a was a 20 something year old that is still finding himself.

Moving to Nigeria should never ever be done on a whim. It's should be attacked like a military assault.

My move started around 2010. After I left in 1986, I didn't return for a visit until 2006, 20 years gone. On that trip I was able to see some changes and opportunities in Nigeria. So I made a plan to start spending my yearly vacations in Nigeria so I can get used to it. Between 2006 and 2010 I came home once every two years.

Come 2010 I really started putting things in gear. I came home much more frequently, some years twice. Between 2015 and 2019 I came home around 4 times a year. This is important, the back to back trips. It's on these trips that I convinced myself that I could actually do this. Live in this near lawless, ungovernable country and actually have fun and pursue opportunities.

One sunny day in 2019 sitting at my desk in the office in Los Angeles I upped and quit my lucrative career and move back to Nigeria. Now I moved back to my own house that I've built in that timeframe and fully furnished, my own vehicles that I've stashed in that timeframe.

I wrote all this in detail for others to read carefully as they make their choices. One of the most difficult things for returnees is when they move back and they have to rent or live with families that they hardly know. Some think they can only make it in Lagos or Abuja and pay N1M a year rent. I pay N0 rent. Some can't drive and take Uber. I pay N0 because I drive myself (mostly after heavy praying).

You cannot do a successful business without being on the ground and doing your own critical study. All the studies and plans that I made about Nigeria while I was in the USA has been thrown away. It's near useless.

So in closure, move to Nigeria because it's what you want to do, not because someone think it's a good idea. Move to Nigeria with residence and vehicle already sorted out. Have a bank account already funded (you can do this while your win the oversea).YOu can fund your bank without going through anyone so no one will know if you are a thousaniare or millionaire. And for the love of god do not use your actual physical home address at the back. The staff are suspects.

Good luck too all of us, those of us coming back, those of us heading out and those of us already here.

PS: Rely on no one. Your friends/family have their own palava going on. Most of the promises made too you while you're in the abroad will not pan out.

PPS: Nigeria is blindingly expensive, frankly I don't know how some do it. You will need to stop using pounds/dollars to justify at some point. I have a gen that I run and it consumes N5K gas in 3 days. Some people only make N20/N25K per month. So relatively I am wasteful.
Chai this life no balance.

American citizen coming back to Nigeria to retire.

While me in my mid 20s, I'm ready to eat human feces in order to obtain American citizenship.

This life ehn sad
Shah if I succeed on that quest I'd return to Nigeria too, to retire in my early 50s.
