And we come to this issue of Latitude Café serving customers with Hoverboard at Ventura Mall Ibadan. Of course, the buzz has been on for a while, so we think you can share your views. Some say its an abuse of technology, some say its putting Ibadan as a pacesetter city of which she has always been, with all the firsts…(Cocoa house, UCH, UI, NTA etc) now we can add ‘Restaurant Hoverboard’, I guess? To some its simply Innovation and Creativity, its an attraction for peeps that haven’t seen a hoverboard before (in real life I mean), and it will make delivery of meals faster and with ‘swags’. To some its just a joke, someone actually said its putting a gold ring in a pigs snout, especially the way the lady is looking and all. So what do you think? Politics › Igbo In Ibadan Accuses Ohaneze NDigbo Of Instigating Crisis by Flyoruboy(op): 10:59am On Aug 31, 2015*. Modified: 12:35pm On Aug 31, 2015 |
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/igbo-in-ibadan-accuses-ohaneze-n-digbo-of-instigating-crisis/on August 31, 2015
By Ola Ajayi, Ibadan THE perennial battle over the title of Ohaneze N digbo of Oyo state resurfaced again, weekend, as the socio-cultural group accused the Ohaneze national leadership of instigating crisis in the state. This was disclosed in Ibadan by the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state, Eze (Dr.) Alex C. Anozie, President of the Ohaneze in Oyo state, E. Ndidi Nzeako. They claimed that Anozie is the only recognized paramount head of the Igbo community in Ibadan and Oyo state. The duo called that attention of the national body to a subsisting court judgment delivered by an Oyo state High Court on February 18, 2014, in which the court affirmed the leadership of Anozie as the democratically elected and crowned Ezendigbo, Onyendu Ndigbo in Ibadan and Oyo state. They went further that the court did not only pronounce Anozie as the paramount head of the Oyo Igbo community, but also “ordered everything about the Igbo General Assembly (IGA), including their acts, steps taken by the group and the South-East Traditional Rulers null and void, and restrained Chief Aloy Obi from parading himself as the Onyendu Ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state.” The group was particularly irked by the recent visit by “one person who called himself the Deputy President of the Ohaneze Worldwide, by name Ogochukwu Onyema”, who allegedly said what something that eroded the court ruling, and claimed to have spoken on behalf of the Ohaneze national body.
The group said, “if it is true that they are the ones who sent one Ogochukwu Onyema to Ibadan on 15th of August, 2015, to come and say all what he had said, then they need to take caution .
“We are responsible peace-loving citizens of Nigeria who so much believe in the rule of law, and that is why we tolerated so many provocations since many years now, and we have continued to allow the judiciary to help us sort things out peacefully. Oyo state is peaceful and we want it to remain peaceful.
“We are aware of the antics of the very person who has been the brain behind all these problems since all these years; he would want to drag everybody that matters into this controversy, including the South-East Traditional Rulers and Ohaneze national body, whom we expected to play a justified fatherly role in this issue.”, they said. asha80: you can talk anything you want but don't compare Germany that was rebuilt by allied forces after the war to what happened to igbos after civil war in nigeria..south Korea was left on its own to develop with backing from usa..i am sure you were not talking a bout north korea Poppycock! Context, please. Nigeria clearly did not have the resources of the U.S to have embarked on a similar "Marshall plan" to reconstruct your region. Gowon may not have satisfied you all with the amount of attention y'all expected, considering how many other states and underdeveloped parts of the country were and are still begging for attention at the sane time. After all, the SE region was fully reintegrated back into the fold politically as your kinsman became VP and used the influence of that office to divert some development to that region. Besides, your states also receive monthly federal allocation so what are we talking about? |

FKO81: I can see how you have rebuilt your cities after colonial masters left, compare mr re builder! 1 Ibadan 2 Abeokuta 3 Onitsha 4 Enugu Don't you get tired of recycling this same old tired line over and over? Development isn't dependent on the number of empty "mansions" that only get inhabited during Christmas and Easter festivities. What exactly did the colonial masters build in the SW? Awolowo is reputed to have rightly boasted that he developed the SW in his short stint at the helm than the Colonialists did throughout their stay. The tallest building in Africa at the time and its first skycraper at Ibadan, Cocoa House, was built by Awo (till today no single SE building is as tall as this structure) First tv station in Africa was built by Awo, Nigeria's university with the most cutting edge design till date, OAU, was built by Awo. Ibadan was practically the capital of Nigeria during the 50s with a population that outstripped even Lagos, if you doubt this go ask your elders. Oyo and Ogun are still miles ahead of any SE state in terms of industrial and economic value and output, that is all that matters. Yorubas did not suffer a civil war therefore our century old buildings even with their rusty roofs are still standing today. They are testament to our early urbanization and civilization, same way the original buildings in Florence Italy are still standing today even with their rusty roofs. You all can keep your skylines and "mansions" while we keep building industrial and more economically viable infrastructures. Little wonder your people find our rusty roofed cities irresistible, in spite of all your "mansions" and skylines If to say development is about skylines, AKS and Calabar would easily replace Lagos. |

Ask yourself if ur region were the south East how will u pple coped? Well I understand ur envy. Yinmu. The guy I responded to was the one who mentioned me so calm the fvck down. So whose fault is it that the Igbos instigated a war they ended up losing? Are they the only group that has recovered from war? Japan and Germany suffered worse humiliation and defeat, South Korea also survived a civil war and they have all moved on and are thriving today so quit sulking. There's nothing special about Igbos condition since the war. Nigeria has tried to reintegrate them since the civil war ended. If Yorubas were in igbo shoes we would also have no choice than to rebuild and move on with life, so get off your high horses and quit spamming my mention. |

The yoruba media have tried to paint igbos as traders who only do buying and selling in open markets and streets but any list like this one always prove them wrong. if only the almajiri and agberos could learn trading, nigeria would have been better Guy relax. Igbos will hold theirs anytime in a lot of fields which is highly commendable. The only problem I see with the group is their rabid superiority complex. They are no less nor better than anybody else. The SS, especially the AKS/Cross Rivers Axis, is also well represented on this Tech list with Essien , Editi, and Abasiama, especially when you consider their relatively smaller population. Sim Shagata represents Plateau/North which isn't too encouraging coz the North could definitely do better. A breakdown of the list shows 3 SS, 8 SE, 9 SW, and 1 North. |

Happiness87: what of the Igbos in govt You have already asked this same question under your other moniker and I answered you, but am willing to repeat myself (with emphasis on the bolded portion): At least you have admitted that you are an igbo impostor using a Yoruba moniker, so that's a start. cheesy. Those 3 past governors you listed are Yorubas so that is all that matters to us Yorubas of this SW region -- unlike you Igbos who hate each others guts so much that Abia govt. fired fellow igbos from imo from their civil service. Besides, those 3 men are bonified Lagosians so what the fvck are you talking about? Lagos is a Yoruba state, governed by Yorubas, situated in Yorubaland, the most progressive region in the entire country. It is to the credit of the Yorubas that other Nigerians from all ethnic groups find their region and Lagos in particular as a land of opportunity, just as Hispanics, indians, Irish, Italians, Africans are keen to migrate to NY, L.A, London, etc. Can the same be said about your SE region? Where poverty pursues your kinsmen to Lagos and the SW for survival? Now, the likes of Joe igbokwe and the one commissioner spot in Fashola's gov't are appointed positions. Tinubu started the practice as a gesture of goodwill to the igbo community in Lagos and nothing more. Without Igbos, Yoruba governors will continue to emerge in Lagos as igbo voting strength is practically insignificant, as the last election demonstrated. If the governor decides not to appoint any igboman or non-indigene into his cabinet nothing will happen. Aregbe also had Ondo indigenes in his cabinet so this practice is no biggie to us here in the SW. The igbos aren't the only group that live in Lagos, an Urhobo man also won an election to represent his community here in Lagos at the Federal level so quit your noisemaking. But that's the problem with your stvpid lot. In your mind you are the only non-Yoruba in Lagos when in actual fact you all just the loudest. Lagos PDP,which is controlled 100% by Yorubas, gave the non-Yorubas that won election under that party the ticket to represent Lagos, so even those non-Yorubas owe that position to their Yoruba hosts. Of the 64 or so elective seats in Lagos, only 4 went to non-Yorubas out of the PDP and Accord Party wins, of which one is an urhobo man and 3 igbos. So at 4 out of 64 still gives Yorubas an overwhelming majority control of their state politically, not to mention again that even those non-Yoruba winners owe their tickets to the Yoruba Lagos PDP leadership. |
