HOW TO STOP WORRYING. 1. Remind yourself that worrying doesn’t stop things happening. Things will happen – or not happen –anyway. 2. Recognize that “What ifs” don’t usually help with problem solving. It’s better to use logic, and brain storm for solutions. Take control of your emotions by using rational thinking. 3. Motivate yourself by something other than worrying. Take a break and do something fun, and then go back to your work again. That positive approach will reap more benefits. 4. Face your fears – and do the things that you worry about. The thought is often much worse than the actual thing you fear. 5. Ask yourself “What’s the worst thing that could happen?” Then, “What are the chances that it will happen? Then “Will you survive it, if it happens, in the end?” Usually, that helps to move us from an extreme and irrational way of thinking to a more realistic, and reasonable way if thinking. 6. Teach yourself a range of relaxation strategies – and then concentrate on them instead of on your different fears. Or, adopt a mindful approach – and keep your focus on “right now” |

Ten senators who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have concluded a deal with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to support its candidate for the Senate Presidency if Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki is forced to resign at the end of his on-going Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) trial. Senate President Saraki’s trial at CCT was accelerated by the tribunal’s chairman Justice Danladi Umar last week and he could lose his exalted position if he is convicted of the charges brought against him by the Federal Government. The 10 die-hard pro-Saraki APC senators held a meeting with their PDP counterparts and discussed their next line of action if the Senate President is forced to step down. At the end of the meeting, they agreed that Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu would be put forward to replace Saraki. The 10 APC senators pledged to join hands with the 50 PDP senators to elect Ekweremadu as Saraki’s replacement if it comes to that. According to our sources, the APC senators who signed the deal include two senators from Kwara, one from Kogi, three from Niger, one from Adamawa, one from Sokoto and two senators from Bauchi State. The 10 assured PDP senators that if Saraki is forced out, they will stand by them to elect Ekweremadu “no matter what their party does to persuade them.” They also promised that they will shun overtures even from President Muhammadu Buhari and team up with their PDP colleagues. At present, the Senate has 58 APC and 44 PDP senators with six vacancies. A switch of sides by eight APC senators is enough to turn PDP into a majority in the chamber. http://www.thebreakingtimes.com/flash-10-apc-senators-pledge-votes-for-ekweremadu/ |
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has stated that the President would not rush into signing the 2016 budget earlier transmitted to him by the National Assembly. Adesina, who took to his Facebook page over the weekend to disclose this, stressed that Buhari would sign a budget that would “do good to the maximum number of Nigerians.” He maintained that Buhari will not just sign the budget for signing sake, adding that the President will only sign a document that the Executive agrees with. “He will not rush to sign a document that may become un-implementable,” he said in a television interview, the excerpt of which he posted on his wall. “And he has said himself that he would scrutinize the budget; look at the provisions ministry by ministry. The ministers will have to agree that what has been approved for them will do the work that they need to do unless that is achieved, I can’t be presumptuous to tell you that the president will sign immediately. “Don’t forget that the constitution gives the president an allowance of 30 days after the budget is sent back to him,” Adesina said http://dailypost.ng/2016/04/25/buhari-will-not-sign-2016-budget-for-signing-sake-adesina/ |

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has disclosed that the Federal Government was quietly working towards bringing an end to the persistent Fulani herdsmen/farmers crises across the country. Mohammed made the disclosure on Sunday during a special prayer for the stability of the nation by an Islamic group, Saadatul Abadiyyah Organisation of Nigeria in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital. According to Mohammed, President Muhammadu Buhari had also constituted a panel of inquiry to look into the recent alleged Fulani attacks, adding that Nigerians would soon feel the effects of the silent efforts being made by the government. Mohammed said, “the President did speak immediately these things happened, to the extent of setting up a panel of enquiry. But the government is going to do more than that. “These communal clashes are very delicate issues, very emotional and what the government is doing is working very silently to ensure that people who used to live together before without any conflict will go back to that. In few weeks from now, we will begin to see the result of that.” Recall that there has been persistent clashes between suspected Fulani herdsmen and farmers across the country with States like Benue, Plateau, and Taraba as the worst hit http://dailypost.ng/2016/04/25/fg-silently-working-to-end-fulani-herdsmenfarmers-crises-lai-mohammed/ |

High Court in Makurdi, Benue State has sentenced a a bus driver, Tanko Inalegwu, who robbed passengers of N68,000, to death by hanging. In his ruling, Justice Hwande held that the prosecution proved before the court that the convict conspired with others, now at large to rob their victims of various sums of money totalling N68,000, on October 10, 2013. He said that the convict and his gang had pretended to be passengers in the commercial vehicles in which they dispossessed the unsuspecting victims of cash at the old Customs House, North Bank, Makurdi - after which they pushed out the three victims from the moving vehicle. The Judge stated that contrary to the victim's claim, evidence tendered before the court showed clearly that the convict was a key player in the robbery. Report said the convict had confessed to the police that he committed the offence, but later made a U-turn, claiming that he made the confessional statement after being tortured by the Police. Justice Hwande said that the confessional statement provided enough ground for the verdict of the court and his conviction.
