Paid Agritropic Ltd a visit today and decided to try out my hands on a few varieties to be able to give firsthand accessment of the crops. The following add ups are;

Tomatoes Addition.
1. Rodeo 62 F1 Tomato (5g) = N1,600
2. Roma Savana Tomato (10g) = N600
3. F1 Cobra 26 Tomatoe (5g) = N1,600

Cucumbers Addition
1. Murano 2 F1 (5g) = N1,600
2. Tokyo F1 (50g) = N10,700

Additional Grow trays
1. 10x200 = N1000

Neem Oil
1. 1litre = N3,500

Nope. I don't see the use for it. Moreover, my soil is well accounted for, did soil testing for extra precautions and the soil pH seems fine.

If I have to use anything that would be baking soda is in my arsenal for fungicides control. Well, the neem mixture seems to be doing the job just fine till present.

The Cobra 26 F1 is definitely superior to Roma VF, with a lot more tolerance to a lot more diseases. The Cobra 26 F1 is in the league of Padma F1 if you asked me and as I clearly stated earlier.

Like I said earlier, I went shopping for tomato seeds (obsessed with tomatoes), came across the Roma VF 100g and bought it.

Morning fresh.. Not oil.. Morning fresh.. The liquid soap. I think a 5 litre keg of neem oil is 25k or so and it was gotten from ibadan

Basically sterilized soil (cooked the soil), then mixed in appropriate proportion with compost manure (poultry).

Day 1 - Lindo F1 Tomato Planting (19/02/2019)

Okay, I got to excited this morning and decided to plant straight away before heading to work. (O yeah! I work ). Got some Rio grande, UC 28 B and now Lindo F1 (my first hybrid tomato seed, though I already ordered for the Cobra 26 F1).
Let's see what the Lindo has to offer knowing fully well Rio grande remains my first love .
The 1gram Lindo was able to fill up my 10x20 tray i.e 200 units after planting two seeds per hole. That means I got variably between 400-450 seeds in the sachet . well, worth the price N700 naira.

Let the count down begin. Should be picking up more grow trays on my way back for my cucumbers.

Expenditure so far:
Lindo F1 tomatoes (Technisem) = N700
Nagano F1 cucumber (Technisem) = N800
Tray= N1100 (kind of expensive if you ask me)

Total= N2,600

here in Abeokuta a dozen of medium size of water Mellon is 3500-4k .The price is not encouraging at all. Because of the high rainfall in most part of south west to plant water Mellon ,someone have to prepare and prepare .pest and diseases and pest is of the major problem. Though fertile land is not a problem down here 75% of our lands are fertile even I can say it authoritatively that southwest has the most fertile land in Nigeria..

it all depends on how good your management is,technisem catalog says it matures 55 days when transplanted,that will be a total of 85-90 days in hot weather,if it's rainy season it takes longer,I don't know how they managed to cross that variety the average weight of one seed is 20 grams and I am still yet to see any seed company come up with a more bigger and spicy variety.

I don't know that big men do visit nairaland agriculture section or follow topics on it until this Monday morning when I received a call from a senior military man that he was in my area for a election and before going back to his base he would like to visit my farm. I was shocked when I saw two hilux van on my farm with military boys. The boss was very friendly and passionate about farming, I showed him my pepper nursery and he was impressed... But after a lot of discussion he insisted that he wanted to buy 2000 stands Of my pepper, I tried to persuade him but as you know khaki men no go gree. We counted it we got 1022 stands unpruned. So I only have 430 prune pepper in my farm now. So I have to visit Agrotropic to get a new 50gram seed again. I just did the nursery this morning.

I cannot say about other hot pepper varieties,but what we noticed with the avenir f1 is if u don't prune it will naturally form a Y branch and will form other Y branches from the first one,but if u prune it off you will see not less than 5-6 individual branches that will further form Y branches translating to higher yields,we have done the experiment between pruned and unpruned peppers the results is no contest,at any given time the pruned crops have 150-200+ fruits on it,I will not even think about hot pepper farming without pruning.and pls nothing is difficult in using your fingers and pinching off growth nodes while they are still in nursery,the manure we bagged today that one na real back breaking work.

Laugh wan kill me today,I sent videos of our land preparation to our foreign partners and Ithey can't believe what they saw ,one mean hungry guy dug 2,000 holes in 2 days it's incredible,they didn't believe it's humanly possible,they think we will relax and wait for the earth augers machine to arrive before we start work ,they are wrong, in Africa we have human bulldozers,human excavators and any variety of earth shaking and moving machines there is a human mutation for that in Africa.

stunted growth, yellow leafs,plant wilts when sun is shining and does not come back to normal even when irrigated,if u pull it up u will see round nodes on the roots and stem will be rotted,and if it eventually bear fruits u will only harvest max 3-4 times it will wilt and die off.
