Acceptance Speech of Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala at the Primaries of the LP held at Olubadan Stadium today 10th of Dec 2014. PROTOCOL Ladies and gentlemen, today marks the beginning of another history in the political landscape of our great state. The beginning of victory over darkness, as we're all on board to the promise land. The events of the recent weeks spurred us into taking this very bold step. A step that has put stop to rumours, gist and speculation within the political circuit in Oyo State and Nigeria at large. I want to take you down political archive of this state in the last 35 years. No politician or group of people has ever being a monopoly of winning formula for all elections till date. The indices keep on changing every season even while our generalisimo late Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu was alive. This year, against all expectations, something unique and historical happened. That has always being the peculiarity of political algebra in Oyo state and this has continually goes beyond any human ability or permutation. From the time of the late Cicero uncle Bola Ige (1979 to 1983), late Chief Kolapo Ishola's short term of 1992-1993, Alhaji Lam Adesina, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, my humble self's first stint as governor of the state and the current administration, the formula has never being the same. An adage says, "man proposes God disposes." In preparation for 2015 elections, we set out to actualize our ambition on our old mat, but God has another plan for us- here we are on a marble, the Rehoboth, without stress amidst honest and reliable people. I want to reiterate it that we never planned to leave PDP. We were not chased out either but it was evident that the current leadership of the party had forgotten that politics is not the same as election. We set out to win election because we are sure that we have the masses on our side. But they were busy playing "politics from the top" and never considered its implication during election proper. We refused to satisfy the minority and gamble with the lives of millions because of an inordinate ambition. Let me affirm here that after politics from the top comes election which can only be decided by the masses. It will speak of the master of the game. Though we're not abrogating arrogance to ourselves, but our party as its slogan says- forward ever, backward never, its army is full of election marshals of note and not chess players. They are marshals who for a very long time have proven themselves while they've never shown any sign of tiredness. I refer to them as 'tested and trusted' marshals. We know nobody from the top but we're heir of the TOP MAN, God Himself, because his own list cannot be doctored anywhere. As from this moment, we will embark on massive public enlightenment to all nooks and crannies of the state. I want to use this opportunity to thank everybody that made this union what it is today. People make party, together we shall make history in this state with Labour Party come February 2015 and beyond. Forward ever, backward never. I thank you all.

I said it from day one that you go to wrong party, we know you as Akala boy, you can mark my word, not even Oyewumi or Mulikat (if contest in PDP) will win that seat, if Akala present another candidate in Labour Party |

There was Shouts of Joy today as Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala stepped into BUTH Ogbomoso. Just like Jesus Christ and Bartholomew the blind man in the bible whose eyes was restored among other blind people around when Jesus Christ was passing bye Alao Akala came to check one of his closest friend and associate at The BOWEN (BAPTIST) UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL OGBOMOSO today Sunday, 7th December, 2014. As he (ALAO) was came out of the wards, some patients who has been discharged some like 2 months ago, some more than that but could not go home because they could not afford to settled there bills, Immediately they (the patients) sighted him they cried out aloud, "E dakun e saanu waa" then ALAO stopped (feeling with compassion) and ask them, "Ki le fe kin se funyin" (what do you want me to do for you) then the patients together with there parents cried out "Aaa ri owo hospital wa san ni" (we could not afford to pay our Hospital bill) ALAO collected all their papers-bills from all of them, numbers like 11 and requested the Cashier see him for the payment immediately. Alao Akala is know for his generousity, and that is why majority of oyo people clamoring for his come back as oyo governor come 2015 regardless of the party.

THE incoming governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, on Tuesday evening, raised the alarm that the outgoing Dr Kayode Fayemi-led administration was bequeathing a debt profile of nearly N84 billion to his administration. He lamented that the state was indebted to banks and other financial institutions till 2020. This came as he lifted the curfew imposed on the state by Governor Fayemi on September 25, following a crisis that erupted after the murder of Chief Omolafe Aderiye. Fayose, who spoke on a live programme in Ado-Ekiti on local radio and television stations, also said last minute efforts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the E-11 to stop his inauguration were like “the last kicks of a dying horse.” According to him, “they took N31 billion in the first instance and paid about N10 billion and they took another N22 billion loan and the state is having N552 million monthly deficit and the repayment is till 2020.” Fayose, who was reacting to a suit reportedly filed at a Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday by the APC and the E-11, which was intended to stop his inauguration tomorrow, said “God’s will will prevail, no matter the circumstances.” According to him, “everything will work for good for me and the people of Ekiti State. In the case filed in Lagos today (Tuesday), we have found out their antics and I am confident that I would be inaugurated.” He also alleged that his team was being frustrated by the Governor Fayemi, adding that he was not getting the support of the outgoing governor to ensure a hitch-free inauguration ceremony. Coach Stephen Keshi has taken the humble pie and he is literally on his kneels asking Nigerians to forgive him for the shock loss recorded against Sudan on Saturday. Speaking with journalists on arrival in Abuja on Sunday, the Big Boss stated that like all Nigeria football fans, he is equally not happy with the way things turned out in Khartoum adding that the result will mark a turnaround for the Eagles. “I must ask you to help me apologise to Nigerians for this loss because they have so much believe in this team and here we are disappointing them. The day was simply not ours, because we had a couple of early chances that we would used to bury the game but the ball simply refused to enter into the net. Once again on behalf of the team I want to apologise to Nigerians and promise them we will make an immediate amend come Wednesday. This is the first time I am doing this in my entire career as a player and coach”, he said pensively. Source:- .com/keshi-apologises-for-sudan-defeat |
Nigeria may already be looking for a way to play at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, following the shoddy performances of the Super Eagles in the on-going qualifiers for the event. Sources tell Futaa.com, that plans may have been put in motion for Nigeria to apply for hosting rights, with current rights holders Morocco, considering pulling out. The Super Eagles have one point from a possible nine, and prop up a Group that has South Africa, Sudan and Congo, with chances of qualifying now only mathematical. The only sure way the Nigeria may get to play at the event, is only if the tournament is moved to West Africa, with Nigeria hosting. Morocco had complained to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) that the tournament should be moved because of the Ebola scourge. CAF have however, declined the request, insisting that the tournament will go on as planned. Should Morocco take the next expected step and decline to host, Nigeria may offer to host the event. Nigeria last hosted the Nations Cup in 1980, before sharing hosting rights with Ghana in 2000. Source:- www.futaa.com/football/article/afcon-2015-nigeria-plan-back-door-qualification |

Otunba Alao Akala in an interview with Journalists in Ogbomoso said Ibadan G7 gang up of the PDP gubernatorial aspirant cannot worked against him due some factors Sir, recently at the inauguration of TEAMAKALA campaign office, you promise to banish poverty in the state. How did you intend to do this? I am very close to the grassroot and i know how to do that a lot. My government will re-introduce soft loans to our people at a reasonable interest rate and this will definitely help the people a lot at the grassroot. Sir, another aspirant of your party has said that the call for an Ibadan candidate was for strategic reason, do you subscribe to this? It is a pity and unfortunate that somebody of Professor Taoheed Adedoja’s calibre could say such a thing at this time and age, with his level of exposure. Imagine, Ibadan indigenes had been at the helms of affairs for long and none of them made him Minister. I am not an Ibadan man but I made him minister. I did not run Ogbomoso government when I was there before and I will not do such. All I know and preach is that the best man should be given the job irrespective of wherever they come from in the state. Sir, most of these aspirants today in your party are your former aides and it is believed that you should be able to talk to them and make them see reasons why you are still the best man for the job. NO, I don’t subscribe to that. When you do that to someone who is ambitious, you will be seen as a selfish man. You just have to leave them and allow them pursue their ambition to a logical conclusion. Sir, a clean environment is a pre-requisite to healthy living in every society, how do you intend to sustain that. Yes, we did all these during my first term in that office. My government invented a programme known as ``Environmental Akalism’’, headed by the then Commissioner for Environment and it worked out for good. We are going to start it from where we stopped and it will further improve the lot Sir, do you see yourself as having greater chances in the forthcoming gubernatorial primaries of your party or do you foresee any form of gang up? My friend, gang up can never work where you have many ambitious people. Who will forfeit his or her ambition for the other, it only works where there is a common goal that has nothing to do with others desire. What success has the G7 formed by some people recorded? Mind you , all of them wants to be governor , so how will they gang up. Your Excellency Sir, as a former governor and an aspirant of the PDP, how do you intend to improve the state Internally Generated Revenue, moreso now that there is complaint of fluctuating federal allocation? I have served as the governor of the state before and experience matters a lot. When i was governor, I ensured that I cut my coat according to my cloth. I know how I raised the state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by 300 percent. Then, I worked within the available resources without borrowing a dime. Mind you, I left no debt in the state covers. Sir, how do you intend to industrialise the state when you are re-elected as the governor That is very simple, you see, when people get incentives and conducive environment is created, they will definitely come around to invest at that place. In this sense, I mean, provision of tax holiday, easy access to raw materials, better infrastructure and conducive environment. I started the Ibadan Mega city project by opening up new places for development. When I opened the Orita-Challenge-Odo Ona Elewe- Apata road, it was with the intention of shifting development to that area and you can see what that place is today. Lots of houses and business ventures had sprang up there today, even the lands that was bought at the rate of like a N100,000 there is now being sold at millions of naira, showing the kind of development being witnessed around there now Sir, there is this speculation going round the state that the major opposition parties in the state had kept their Oyo North Senatorial ticket for you. Some even said that you are being wooed into a party with the ticket and a billion naira. What do you have to say to this? (Laughs...) , that means I am important in Oyo State politics and have become the beautiful bride. Well, in politics, you don’t have enemies. People have been talking to me and I have also been talking to them. I believe so much in party supremacy and I am very loyal to my party. I am in PDP and have no such deal of taking up a ticket from any other party. Please tell them not to keep the ticket for me in any other party but withdraw from the governorship race for me. I am expecting them all in the PDP. I am not small in my party and party had always accommodated me, how then will I go for a ticket in another party? If they believe that I am important in other parties, then my party cannot say I am not important. Help me tell them that I am expecting them to join me in the PDP. |
