J111333: This is personal so please be courteous with your comments.
I have a married female cousin who takes church serious more than her life, well I don't wanna waste your time with that part of the story.
I have tried to help her husband and her financially for a long time now and I'm afraid I've turned from helper to head of household, not funny. I jokingly told them to hang their boots after they had their fourth child but as I'm typing this, baby five just landed.
Their first son just got admitted into Unilag and guess who they called to help. I've severally decided to stop helping but thoughts of those lovely kids of theirs have always affected my decisions.
I told the newly college admitted boy to open a bank account so that I can channel my help properly but her mum said he wasn't 18 yet so she would be the one running the account until then.
A little background story.
My cousin is a graduate but helps her husband in an imaginary business of his which I have put in like N10m if not more yet nothing to show for it. I later switched to helping my cousin get a job, she ended up getting duped of the money meant to pursue the job Nigerianly.
She was/is my favourite cousin growing up and she was more than a nanny to my sister and I when we were little.
How can I put an end to this madness without feeling guilty about the kids? Mind you, I love their kids very much. Stop forcing yourself to stop. It is actually a wonderful thing you are doing and you have no idea the rewards you'll gain. If its not stressful for you then continue helping them. but if it is then only do what you can. |

Generalmac: I just want to be clarified, in this I'll be using Bank A and Bank B. I recently went to Bank A to open a savings account, after filling the form and I submitted it, the agent took a look at it and said 'They will reject it'. I asked why and he said that the name on my form and the name on my ID card isn't the same. My ID had my middle name as an initial so he said they are not the same, I should get a court order and newspaper publication .
So, I proceeded to Bank B and within 25 minutes, my account was set up without questions.
Hence, the above question. Banks have become legalized broadaylight scams. They have also firmly established themselves as an authourity; trust me a bank with the kind of data they have on you can ruin your life or make your life a living hell. Only the wise will understand this but banks are the reason the financial system of the world is messed up and headed for the biggest financial disaster the world has ever seen. Banks days are numbered, they will be rendered useless by blockchain tech. |

He cut ways and tricked a customer, deceiving him as though he cleared the car.
The car has been impounded by customs and the said Adexfem has not come to clear his name. The link below has details for the fraudulent clearing by Adexfem
https://www.nairaland.com/5542822/beware-2014-gx460-cleared-adexfem/3#5542822.121 Oh go get a life!! I am not defending adexfem but people like you are annoying. I am guessing you are a jealous clearing agent or a plain cold sadist. Adexfem has been clearing tons and tons of cars for years. Not once have you encouraged or said something nice about him or work. But you are quick to come here to defecate on his name, maliciously twisting words to potray him as a fraudster. Even the individual that had the issue with adexfem did not take it this far. What goes around comes around, may someone else do same to you. |

izzou: Oga Who issued the clearance papers and released the car after checking it and ascertaining it has met all requirements? The Agent? Ok. Lets say the agent bribed the customs. (Which by the way is unfortunately the norm in Nigeria and what almost every agent does.) And customs accept the bribe and go ahead to clear the vehicle and issue papers. What moral obligation does the same customs now have to impound that same vehicle that they cleared. What they should rather do is mark the vehicle and give the owner some time to complete the payment since it was them that cleared the vehicle and issued clearance documents, rather than impound the car on the spot as if the owner comitted some serious crime. Meanwhile the mixup is from them. But as a typical Nigerian you wont reason that way. Thats why Nigerians get trampled over by anything with any semblance of authourity including a receptionist. |

izzou: Of course, the agent should not be blamed..
When you give your mechanic money to buy original parts for you after he charges you for it, and he buys fake parts, don't blame the mechanic. Blame the importer and customs.
According to the story, who did the op meet to clear his car? The custom officer
Who gave him a bill of 2.750? The custom officer
This is Nigeria, and you are correct sir. The Customs should be blamed for this Oga is the customs papers original or fake? Fact remains that the agent went through customs to obtain the original customs clearance papers. And customs released the vehicle. So why will the same custom impound a car they have cleared and turn around to say they have not cleared. I dont know what it is with Nigerians and not holding authourity accountable, but this mentality has to change. |
Autos › Re: Beware!! My 2014 GX460 Cleared By Adexfem Was Impounded By Custom Officers Today by foolbuster: 9:21am On Nov 22, 2019 |
Honestly i dont blame the agent or the Op. I might not know the process of clearing a vehicle or obtaining customs duty but i cant seem to understand why no one is blaming customs.
The customs papers are not fake, they are genuine. It was customs themselves that issued those papers and released the vehicle, irrespective of how the papers was obtained fact remains it was customs that issued those papers, it is not fake. If the conditions were not met, why did they release the vehicle along with genuine custom papers? Why is nobody talking about arresting the custom officials involved in the processing of the documents and release of the vehicles knowing that the conditions have not been met.
Is it not criminal for customs to issue clearance and papers for a vehicle knowing that the vehicle should not be cleared so that they can turn around and impound same vehicle for more money. |

Benclever1: Hello everyone.
So I met this girl through a mutual friend and we started bonding. Initially, I didn't take the friendship seriously because this lady is a little older than me and I do not see any future between us.
Now, things got more intense between us. She visited me one time, one thing leading to another, we were in bed, about to have sex and then I pulled out the condom but she refused, insisting that she doesn't enjoy sex with condom. I was very surprised to hear that, so I tried to make her see reasons why the condom is very necessary. She adamantly refused. We ended up not having the sex that day.
Just last week she visited again and we spent the night together. We tried to have sex again but the same issue came up again. She insisted I must not used condom. Now this got me upset. During the conversation that ensued, she made it very clear to me that she does not have any STD/STI so I should not be afraid. She however admitted that she was ovulating and that the chances of getting her pregnant was high, but that I should not worry that she'd take care of herself and the pregnancy, if it happens. She said that she would not force me to get involved with the baby if I don't want. However, she made very clear that she's not ready to get married. This got me confused.
I don't want to let my guards down by indulging in unprotected sex with someone I don't trust. I also do not want to hurt her feelings. So I plan to take her for medical tests next week and then we can kick it off from there.
What's your advise for me.
Thank you. You have already taken her for medical checkup and you are still asking for advice. |

Their expulsion is very deserving. In our society where there is higher expectation on females than males to be morally responsible, the bitter reality is that the lady will bear the brunt of the distasteful act.The guy involved will easily get away with it.He will be hailed by his male friends for his daring act while the lady has only ended up bringing disgrace upon her self and her parents who will be the subject of mockery for not bringing up their daughter well. matrixme: I think Nigerian students really need to be careful about using social media to propagate their criticism. This is probably the third case in recent times. We should understand that despite being idealistic and all, nothing is really going to change through internet rant. Rather post pictures of cats or internet memes if you have nothing else to do with your data. What is wrong with you people? You dont even know what the boy wrote or didn't write. But your first reaction is to cower because a lawmaker is involved. Even the UK that taught you democracy how many people have you heard have ever been arrested let alone a little second year student jailed because they insulted a lawmaker on social media? Do you know the kind of insult a whole donald trump receives on social media? Please wake up. |

From all indications you are putting up on this page, you should know you are putting up other innocent people image before the public as accomplices. Remember No man is island, if I were you, you said you already reach the father and mother. And the uncle even interacted with you. I guess you could have found out why the dude wasn't' picking up your calls, Because I just reached the number you gave and he narrated his own side of this so called HONDA DEAL.
Like the saying goes, now I may ask... Is #220,000 enough to tarnish one's image as you have portrayed decent. There are other fellow noble and quiet nairalanders who could pay for this and and change a life forever. I know you may say, I am an accomplice too. But the truth is always bitter. I am a practicing lawyer. And also an anonymous nairalander, I am not new to nairaland.. But per say that does not matter, I am telling you from the experience of an attorney. You even said the guy begged you, then why the later aggression. Let us be guided because nobody knows tomorrow You are talking like the thief. |

Fighting, vote buying will continue but will be more difficult and expensive. Ballot snatching will be a thing of the past. Then you will see how politicians will be begging. The only way it will happen is through wide adoption of blockchain tech, and with time it will sip in to the electoral system. |

Actually, I don't see how fiat value relates to stock price. Apple is a very sound company. Companies that are big shots in Nigeria like Chevron and ExxonMobil are worth under $300bn. I see your point. Apple is a huge company no doubt but assuming fiat does not lose value there is no way it would be worth upto a trillion dollars. One trillion is a hell of a lot of money. Ps: Cryptocurrency can never be fiat and fiat can never be cryptocurrency. Fiat will die eventually. |
