The terrorist surge in Kwara really got me thinking because it was Baruten LGA, at a time when Chinese companies ceased buying American soybeans (yes, they have actually ceased buying it as of today. One of the American soybeans representatives lamented on TikTok).

I am keeping a close eye on Kastina and Angola, where Chinese investors/companies are investing >$250m in rice and soybeans farms. Next thing, we fit see terrorist attacks in those areas. Even the Benue attacks are worrisome because Chinese investors poured $10m into a cassava-to-ethanol facility there.

In all these, I blame the elites and politicians of the affected areas. They must know who is behind these attacks. I cannot comprehend an elite who watches his land gets destroyed and keeps mum.

I always laugh at Nigerians that cry over lopsided appointmentments and whatnot. There is nothing like "our brother" or "our son" in Nigerian politics. I don't know what goes down south but insecurity in northern Nigeria is supported by highly placed northern politicians and security officials. A DSP (or SP. You know, this is the same thinking I have regarding the terrorist attacks in Kwara. We are the second biggest producer of soybeans in Africa after South Africa. I started reading attacks in Kwara, especially Baruten LGA, which is a major soybean producing area. This happened at the same time the US and China had their trade war. Right after China stopped buying US soybeans, there was a fair organised by the US embassy encouraging Nigerians to purchase soybeans from the US.

I still find it shocking that Kwara would be experiencing terrorist attacks, considering that more than ten years ago, it was always mentioned here on NL as one of the safest states. Also, why must it be Baruten LGA where soybeans are cultivated in large swathes of land?

My brother, this is how someone quoted me last year and started saying rubbish after I pointed this out. The pattern is becoming more and more glaring. Well, I don't blame them. Diplomatically speaking, Israel is one of the most untouchable countries on the planet. The US is willing to arrest its own citizens and force them to declare loyalty to Israel as a prerequisite for disaster relief. The EU would never go beyond verbal condemnations, Russia is closer to Israel than it is willing to admit, and China is too politically correct for current realities. Few countries can get away with what Israel has done so far. Russia is a proof of that.

Firstly, Both China and Russia didn't veto the UNSC sanctions on Iran in 2006. The political world has since been disjointed, we'll see how it goes this time.
