Car Talk › Re: Why Is The Toyota Tacoma Cheaper Than The Toyota Hilux? by Foolishbuhari(op): 7:31am On Mar 28, 2021
sultaan:
People's impression of the Hilux used by govt is that it is very reliable, but idea worked for the 504 until reality sets in. But for now watch and learn..

In most market with the Hilux, it goes head to head with a range but with tacoma it is undisputed king
The Tacoma goes head to head with the Ford Ranger and F150 in the US in terms of reliability, ruggedness and hard-work but the F150 always trumps it, while the Ranger follows behind the Tacoma. Funny though, in Nigeria, the hilux goes head to head with the Ford Ranger in comparison Lol

Ogbuu101:
The impression is still true for both.
504's problem was just influx of very low quality parts from God knows where from the mid 90s.
Then for the hilux, it's just a basic car with a very strong, abuse tolerant engine and less orishirishi.
Ordinary airbag wasn't even available till very recently so of course it would spoil less frequently
You don talk am finish! Their engines I think the 2TR are basically bullet proof! See interior be like bololo field. I believe Toyota got inspiration for the interior of the camry from the hilux grin

richeeyo:
Bro its just simply demand that is steering up the price, it's been used government agencies, police patrol, escorts, military, you just name it. Tacoma is an American designed pickup, do you know hilux are banned in the USA.
Its just an inferior pickup truck compared to Tacoma.
The law of economics does not apply to cars
The higher the demand the lower the price
But we all know Toyota corolla for Uber does not worth its price but due to the demand
Very nice analysis. Thanks mate

Car Talk › Why Is The Toyota Tacoma Cheaper Than The Toyota Hilux? by Foolishbuhari(op): 9:32pm On Mar 27, 2021
Hey Car-landers, so,I've been wondering. Why is the Toyota Tacoma despite being the better car, more tech and luxury packed usually cheaper than the hilux?

First, let me state why I feel the Tacoma is a better vehicle. At least from the view point of a layman. (Petrol engines were used for the comparison)

1. Engine: The Toyota Tacoma of all models come with bigger V6 engines with some rare variants packing V8, while the hilux starts at the 2.7L I4 engine which gives better fuel mileage by the way but produces less torque.

2. Interior: Y'all would agree with me the interiors can't ever be compared with the Tacoma clearly having the better finishes when compared head to head by years and models.

3. Size: The Tacoma is bigger hence has more room for load. I also believe it should have the better towing power especially when you upgrade to the TRD.

With these but a few mentioned, It makes me wonder when I see some adverts even here on nairaland asking ridiculous amounts for Nigerian used Hilux pick-ups of even 2007 model. Amounts that can buy a very clean foreign used 08-09 Tacoma.

Personally I'd prefer the Tacoma being the "better vehicle" but the prices do not reflect my realities; hence I ask. Exactly what makes the Toyota Hilux more expensive than the Toyota Tacoma?

Yes shipping companies that their vessel passes through that canal pay a fee, but not that Egypt is losing $9billion per day, they will be richer than China and US combined na lol

It's global shipping business that's losing that amount based on speculations actual.

You can calculate the cost of your vessel's (aka ship lol) passage fee via suez canal using this site https://www.wilhelmsen.com/tollcalculators/suez-toll-calculator/

Not the captain but the pilot onboard, whenever a ship calls into port, a pilot boards the ship and take over command and shows where the captain should ply (Even though the captain knows but it's a regulation), but from speculations about this incident, it was a wind that made ship go off course..

When it comes to ship incident, we do not make hasten conclusions till after investigation

Egypt is loosing about $9.8 Billion dollars per day because of this incident

last week when u ipob miscreants were happy the unknown gunmen were killing security operatives n u were jubilating all over the internet with lines like

I wrote something that u people only want to use the same stale narrative that failed u in oyigbo.
u kill security operatives and u jubilate n name the killer's unknown gunmen but when soldiers arrive to kill unknown gunmen u will label the same unknown gunmen "innocent citizens"....."harmless citizens"....."our brothers" .....n co.

irrespective of your defence line, the soldiers kill unknown gunmen n I believe u shouldn't b worried by now cos they are unknown gunmen n nobody knows them.

Nnamdi Kanu dropped a line for anyone to call once they see any checkpoints n later security operatives starts dieing at different checkpoint n u believe people are dumb not to know how far.

don't worry Nnamdi Kanu said he's ready to sacrifice 5 million Igbos,I think he should b on btw 100-300 now so we still have more to go.

Many people who once supported the evils and ills of this government have today been killed by same them. Bad governance is like a stray bullet, it doesn't discriminate

The last attack by the unknown gun me posted here on nairaland didn't u see the police men heads were macheted
I keep a machete in my car; does that make me an unknown gunman? People farm with machetes. I guess that makes them unknown gunmen too? Are machetes firearms? Can you attack a man carrying an AK47 with a machete?

I'm still waiting for you to make it make sense to me. How do 16 men, well dressed guys even wearing nose masks, attack a military post with one shotgun and 2 machetes?

My Verdict: Those were not gunmen. Those were randomly targeted Igbo youths killed and framed and the Igbos and their leaders would be very foolish, if they don't speak against this now and ask for irrefutable proof those were indeed not innocent men killed by the army to make a statement.

If this is left to stand, even you defending this atrocity by the army may one day be at the receiving end of their barrel- killed to project agenda and propaganda. Perhaps that day, you can take them through your nairaland account and show them your posts showing solidarity!

BREAKING: Court jails Professor for manipulating election result in favour of Akpabio

Published on March 25, 2021By Ochogwu Sunday

A High Court in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State on Thursday, sentenced a professor of the University of Calabar, Peter Ogban, to three years in prison for announcing false election result during the 2019 general elections.

The professor of science who served as the returning officer in the senatorial election in Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in 2019, was said to have manipulated results from Oruk Anam and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas.

The prosecutor, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, told the court that Prof Ogban altered the results of the election to favour the All Progressives Congress, APC, against its main rival, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The result was manipulated in favour of the APC candidate, Godswill Akpabio who was seeking reelection to the Senate.

Daily Trust reports that in a previous court session, Ogban had told the court how the results of the election were falsified to give the APC an unfair advantage over PDP.

The PDP’s candidate, Chris Ekpenyong, a former deputy governor in Akwa Ibom State, defeated Mr Akpabio in the election which was gripped by pockets of violence.

Akpabio was subsequently appointed as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Very good! But why couldn't same court jail the Beneficiary of the electoral fraud?

BehindIPOB I asked you a question on my thread. "Gunmen" would attack a military post with a shotgun and 2 machetes? Does this make sense to you? Until we begin to ask critical questions, Nigeria won't move forward oo.

Just 5 months ago the army killed and maimed unarmed protesters at Lekki, then government and BMC went on a spin trying to Gaslight people into believing it was false. Went as far as calling an instagram live "photoshop", now they at it again.

In all honesty and clarity of mind, say you're a judge hearing this case without bias, DO THOSE FELLED, LOOK LIKE ARMED GUNMEN TO YOU?

The story is so stupid, even a child won't fall for it. Unfortunately we have mob mentality in Nigeria especially some southern elements who would never ask critical questions!

I still hope someone can come make this make sense to me though; How over 16 "gunmen" who "attacked" a military post, did so with one shotgun and 2 machetes. Perhaps they had hoped to stump the armed soldiers to death with their feet?

Can you imagine? 16 gunmen went to attack Soldiers with one shotgun and two cutlass?
Going by the army's description of the events, the army alleges the assailants were more but they could only manage to kill 16!

Let's make it make sense. Let's say indeed the men went to "attack" the army post, Some how, out of 16 men gunned down by the military, they had only a shotgun and 2 machetes to share amongst themselves? Also, since when did machetes become a firearm? Does it make sense to you?
