A stray bullet has killed a 9-year-old identified as Zainab Bala-Umar at Gwanki Ward in Makarfi during the ongoing local government elections in Kaduna State on Saturday, September 4.

An eyewitness, Alhaji Yahaya Gwanki, who spoke to Online Source, alleged that the stray bullet was discharged from a military personnel in an effort to disperse the crowd after the soldier was invited by a former chairman of Makarfi local government who is also the APC candidate in the election.

According to Source, Gwanki said the APC candidate, Alhaji Kabir Maiyere had gone to one of the polling units under Fadamar Gwanki and while having a conversation with an electoral officer over some challenges of the e-voting machine, some youths had to start to shout, ‘ba ma so, ba ma so” meaning “we don’t want.”

"Maiyere then invited soldiers who shot in the air and in the process, the girl was hit and died.” Gwanki said.

Engr Auwal-bz Nuhu, the Special Assistant to Ibrahim Wusoro, the Kaduna State PDP Secretary, who posted a photo of the deceased, said she was on her way to Islamiyya school in Gwanki Ward when the incident happened.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, who confirmed the incident, said military personnel were not allowed to be at the polling units.

He added that the police would arrest the suspects, investigate the matter and brief the press.

A woman identified as Mrs Jummai Albert has died a day after the burial of her only child, Jerry Albert, who was brutally murdered by unknown assailants in Adamawa State, Reports.

It was gathered by , that Jerry, a student of the Adamawa State University, Mubi, had been attacked and slaughtered by the assailants on Tuesday night, August 31. He was laid to rest on Thursday, September 2.

Sadly, Mrs Albert was unable to cope with the death of her only child and died on Friday, September 3, As The Time Of Filing This Report, She will be laid to rest on Saturday in Zakawan community, Gayuk Local Government Area of Adamawa.

The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Water Resources, Joe Igbokwe, stormed Nnewi town in Anambra State for his mother-in-law's burial ceremony.

Igbokwe, who hails from Nnewi, resides in Lagos State. He is also a member of the All Progressives Congress and a strong supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

The APC Chieftain is a staunch critic of the Indigenous People of Biafra and other secessionist groups.

A few weeks ago, IPOB reportedly banned Igbokwe from entering Igboland for condemning the activities of the group.

Igbokwe shared some pictures on his Facebook page on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, saying he was in Nnewi for his mother-in-law's burial between the 25th and 29th of August.

The politician thanked the Governor of Lagos State and his deputy as well as security agencies in Anambra State for the success of the burial ceremony. He also said no one could stop him from entering Igboland because he is a bonafide son of the land.
