March 2017..... I received my letter of admission from a University in USA and looking through the admission package, I saw the tuition and fees, Omo.... I lose hope instantly but hey my eyes caught a part of the papers that shows a STEM scholarship that came with the admission Which actually reduced my total tuition but dang! I still need money meeehhhn!

Big shoutout to the USA Student Visa thread on Nairaland. I learnt a lot from there on how to apply for scholarships and how to get a soft landing in USA as an international student. Never the less, the journey wasn’t smooth, but Atleast you have an idea what to expect and how to navigate through the journey.
Fast forward.... I booked my visa appointment and I started reading a lot of student visa transcripts on the thread and people’s experience of the visa interview.... Omo anxiety wan finish me as I Dey read how many people got denied vs how many people got the visa. Wahala dey ooo shocked

Cleared up all my savings, paid for visa fee, I reserved another visa fee Incase dem deny me so I go re-fire!!! All I sha know be say I dey jahhh Mehn. I kept reading thru the thread, Infact I dey sleep and wake up on that thread just to read everyday visa interview experiences and this really helped position me and have a good analysis of what the interview is like and how to navigate thru it. I did my personal homework as well and ensured I put my paperworks right.

A day to the visa interview, I just dey pray while building confidence inside of me say kpata kpata if dem bounce me, I go reapply So I don set plan B already. On the interview day gangan.... my interview was for 7am at Walter Carrington so I woke up around 4:45am, got myself together and arranged a taxi, left home around 5:30 and got to Walter Carrington by 6:45am. Omo come see crowd.... Wetin dey happen for real I was asking myself if the whole Nigeria wan run comot ni. shocked

We did all check in wahala and finally made it into the main building by 7:30ish sha. The interview hall was another vibes cuz anxiety everywhere. It’s an open interview for everyone, just face your interview windows and publicly tell your story. Every malam with him kettle lipsrsealed
I happened to be the 4th on the queue and the First Lady got approved, she’s going for her bachelors in accounting and it felt a little relieving for me , the other two in front me got straight denied because their story wasn’t making sense to the interview and my confidence dropped again. And it got to my turn.
The interviewer could clearly see how disorganized I was because I lost all the confidence and preparations I had built after seeing two people in front of me being bounced.
Interviewer asked me for my passport and I-20. Na so I start dey scatter my folder dey find am, he said I should take my time and calm down, he faced his computer and started doing other things while waiting for me to fix myself lol. I got the passport and document ready and passed it to him.
He asked why I’m going for masters at XYZ university and I started talking to him, at this point, I was getting my confidence back cuz I just stopped giving a f**k patapata you go deny me but I got my A game back and he seems impressed by the interview. He approved my student visa. The moment I heard your visa is approved, my head went totally light in disbelieve but I composed myself and quickly walked out....cuz I don’t even want him to call me back and ask for something else lol.

The security men could see the excitement in me and quickly hyped me for roger. Na so I give dem 1500 naira lol. I carry taxi go back home solo like nothing happened. By 10:30 I don reach home, comot all my suit and tie and just lowkey dey waka for my street like nothing happened, I saw the boiz for area smoking igbo for junction and hailed them as usual, for my mind I just dey talk say meehhhnn .... God go show una way ooo, so these guys no know say I dey flee naija soon lol. I was just watching everything and taking my time to enjoy naija sceneries knowing that I’m taking off soon.
..

I'll only address the part of your post that was sensible, which is only the first paragraph.

People engage in competitive programming either for fun or to prepare for job interviews. There is a certain joy in finding ways to solve tough problems and not only that but finding ways to solve them in the most efficient way possible. But you're right, depending on the area you work in, cp skills might not be very useful but that doesn't really matter.
This was the message the guy was trying to pass, but ended up saying another thing

No wonder u can't write past JS. U can't think properly. I gave examples of other useful things in tech = promote something your are interested about

Uhm...no. We don't support mediocrity.

BTW, what is:
"If you love technology, I don't understand why you're not coding" ?
Is it not downplaying other important of tech ?

No Thanks.

They never sounded like examples.

You say I cant think properly, Good for you.

You should actually be the one to write and express yourself properly.

To your Question, all I have to say is that, There are other sides to that Question. So if that's the best way you could interpret the question. Good for you.

Thanks

PS: Try to control your anger. I can see how boiled up you for just a little counterintuitive comment I made.

Ya'll should check up my Guess game Program

import random
def guessGame():
# first we ask the user for their name
print("What's Your Name"wink
name = input()
print("Oh "+ name +" Guess the number 1-20"wink

# We generate the random number
secretNumber = random.randint(1,20)
print(secretNumber)
# if the guess is incorrect, [We ask for the Guess Number 6 times

for guessNumber in range(1,7):
print("Guess the number "wink
guess = input()

# Using try/except to catch error. In this case, ValueError.
# So if the user enters a string instead of a number it throws a ValueError

try:
if int(guess) > secretNumber:
print("Your Guess is too high"wink
elif int(guess) < secretNumber:
print("Your Guess is too low"wink
else:
break
except ValueError:
print("Please Input a Number"wink

if int(guess) == secretNumber:
print("Your Guess is correct. You Guessed the Number " + str(guessNumber) + " times"wink
else:
print("Try again"wink

Competitive waste of time. Things u come across 0.001% in real-world.

While we are @ it, please change your profile picture, it's cringe-worthy.
People who make CPU and RAM have no business coding, THEY ARE THE CODES!
Have u seen a Photo-lithography machine ? Physicists involved in making of those machines have no business with JS like the JS junkie have no business with electrons.

Do what you feel like and let others do what they feel like. Stop comparing one with another.

Let the JS junkie do their thing and the Physicists do their things.

Stop downplaying other people's interest and motivation because you want to promote something your are interested about and no one's talking bout it

Focus on your Photo-lithography machine let others focus on their JS.

Bosses them, abeg wetin be 'instance', can't find anything in the documentation about it

Instance there means that, when the user wants to update their profile, their previous information would be filled automatically.

It's like creating an instance of what was there, before you edit it.

TIP: Check the meaning of instance in the dictionary for better understanding

I think coding is gone, it is too common, easy as in u could get a website to in minutes, there are no new idea think about something someone has done it before, u just have to know how to get the source, it is possible now to build a tech company without writing code

Data science is huge, and the name encompasses so many things, data analyst, product analyst, data engineers, most engineers etc, as the field progresses it is getting reserved for experts

I think I like the Ml part excluding deep learning which I think is just too difficult because of extreme maths,

I also think ml is very easy to automate, very we soon have ml as a service. At that point where anyone with data could use the service.

Especially that google killing start up, doing and investing in all emerging tech, as huge amounts of data, a lot of genius staffs, a lot google wannabe staffs, it really hard to do something on international scale.

What are ur thoughts? What can we could to capitalize on ml before it becomes a field for all like swe.

@The italised part. Point of utmost correction, coding ain't gone, coding will never go. It is here to stay. Forever.

Most of the tools you'd gonn' be using for the Data Science are written in codes.

You're limiting coding to just website development. It's way way way beyond that.

Be specific about the area in which coding is implemented, instead of generalizing.

It's just that the programming/coding industry is saturated

I understand you perfectly but there are some scenarios where AbstractUser is a better approach as well and based on the example I made earlier, it is a better approach, when you are writing permissions, it is a better approach to inherit from AbstractBaseUser when you know what you are doing. Using User model directly is very tho because if things go wrong then it can be fatal.

Even the Django documentation recommends you start every project inheriting from AbstractUser.

E get why.

Have worked with Vue-Django and React-Django but I prefer React-Django because React is easy to setup with Django both in development and production. As a newbie, I will advise you to go for Vue as your first javascript framework as it is easy to learn and simple to integrate with any backend language.
Django-React community is more accessible than Vue-Django.

Wanna ask a question, Taofeekdboy. When developing your web apps with Django ofcourse, Do you build with Django itself or you build with DRF?

I believe you need both.
Start with the videos first and build something with that. It'll serve as your entry point to what you're learning.
Then follow that up with PDFs for detailed knowledge on the basic one you already have.

In my opinion, there's no such thing as the best in this scenario. It's not even about programming cause, regardless of what is being studied, the choice would always depend on individual factors. Given the fact that none of these approaches gives you the chance to ask questions, it simply burns down to your brain's

Yeah man, just to get the opinions of others.

Like you said, it boils down to your brain.

Some people learn better when they create projects themselves, that's when they even find out new things they didn't learn from PFDs and VIDEO Tutorials
Programming / Programming: Video Or PDF Tutorials, Which Is Best? by fortifiedng: 2:26am On Jul 06, 2020
When learning, which do you prefer, or which do you learn faster with.

Video Tutorials or PDFs

I'd go for Video Tutorials. But one thing about video tutorials is that you can't find everything you need to learn in a video tutorial . You still gats make reference to PDFs.

So which Do you learn faster with?

Sure it can be done like that as well, but there are some scenarios where you dealing with two different groups, maybe students and teachers or premium users and free users, you can easily add student identifier and teacher identifier through AbstractUser, this will simplify things and make code cleaner.

Mahd. Makes sense.

Thanks

Taofeekdboy:
It totally depends on you and what you wanna customize with the user model but if you don't know what you are doing or you just want to add little details to your custom user, you can use AbstractUser, using AbstractBaseUser will override the User model and it requires you to know what you are doing ie being experienced because one foul play will cause inconsistency in your project
Let me give some instances;
If you want to extend a user to have gender, location or profile, you can extend from AbstractUser to customize your user model.
If you need to write permissions and authentication for your user, then I will suggest AbstractBaseUser.

Personally for me, I do extend from AbstractUser because I do write my permissions and authentication without extending from AbstractBaseUser

Bruh, thanks for this. I really appreciate.

But you could also Extend the User Model by creating a "Profile Model" and using a OneToOne relationship with the User Model. And also using SIGNALS.

Thanks a lot for the explanation.

At least, he should be thankful that he was not the one burnt to ashes like other victims.

As far say there's life, there's hope. With time all those things would be recovered

That's a very enormous loss. God grants him and other victims, the fortitude to bear their losses
