Teamies, how are we doing? How is our LO's corner, our hospital bags, baby bump photoshoot, and preparation for vigilante/omugwo?
I hope we've cleaned the house, prepared plenty soups to be refrigerated and made provisions for the naming/dedication.

God of impossibilities is at work again. @ phlakkeys one of your team members has ported. Yes!!! My sister Mojeco is now a mother, She gave birth to a bouncing baby boy this morning(scan lied). What the devil thought is impossible God made it possible.

She will come and give her BS once she is fully rested.

I pray for all remaining waddling mothers God shall make the journey easy for you. And for my ATC sisters d same God dat did hers will deliver your blessings soon ijn.

Hmmnnn,I missed Prayer Monday,e pain me but I give God the glory. I was at ANC yesterday when I started feeling uncomfortable after eating Ofada rice o! I rushed out to throw up. I came back,loosened my scarf cum hijab cos I was feeling hot from within and weak. I was shifting from side to side when I felt the urge to use the loo and I went. As soon as I got back the nurses were alerted and when they called me to come forward to have my vital signs checked so I could see a doctor I rushed out to vomit again. I lost colour and bearing immediately. The nurse checked me and dragged me to the emergency ward. I was having pains in my tummy and managed to send prayers to God to please "let it end in praise". Thank God I'm okay after injections and drugs,it ended in praise!

Please see list below of items i will have in stock:

Styles : I will be stocking styles such as a 2 part system with waterproof cover and absorbent inner (insert, prefold, fitteds).
Also All-in-one system where everything is sewn as one piece.

Accessory wise: there are cloth wipes, wetbags to store the soiled diapers, nappy liners to help with poop, and snappi fasterners (no need for safety pins).


Pricing: I will keep you informed but generally will be starting at N1,200 for absorbent inserts, N2,000 for covers, accessories from N2,500, N4,200 for All-in-ones .

Sizing: some items will be One-Size, these will give you greater flexibility of use as it is designed to be adjustable to fit babies from birth to potty ( about 4.5kg - 15kg) and you can even have 2 children of different ages using the same diapers. other items will be sized to provide better fit and reduced bulk especially for smaller babies but they are all designed to get the longest possible use out of them
There will also be special preemie/ small newborn size diapers for our tiniest bundles of joy as it is evident that many parents struggle to find fitting diapers in the earliest days.


A few things to note:
Modern cloth diapers have very good performance, you just need to get the right quality of products and know how to adjust the absorption to suit your baby's needs.

You will need to change a bit more frequently than using disposables. But that is only a good thing as diaper rash is less of an issue.

No need to use zinc based barrier creams except specifically prescribed (it messes up the absorption if you have to use zinc based cream you will need to use a lflushable) coconut oil or other natural butters work well.

It has a higher upfront cost compared to disposables but it easily pays for itself within 3 - 6 months of usage. There various ways to afford it like buying it in bits, or adding it to your gift list and hinting to friends and family about what you want.


Quantity wise: This will be determined by your budget, if you intend to fully cloth diaper, or mix Cloth diapering with the use of disposables, and how often you wish to wash. (3 days maximum) if you are washing every day or every other day i would say get at least 24 diapers as a minimum and a few of the accessories. Although 36 is the ideal minimum for me if using cloth diapers full time.

Giddyperson has laid it all out for you.
For the wipes get the ones without any frageance, and for sensitive skin.

Some will say cotton wool and water, but cotton wool just falls apart.

Alternatively you can use plain water and cloth wipes.
Either you can buy cloth wipes ( contact me for this and other cloth diapering items) or you can just use a small face towel dipped in warm water

Before you ask..... what of poo.... if you are cloth diapering, you just use the cloth wipes as a normal wipe, store and wash with the rest of your nappies.

If you are using disposables then you can get the worst of poo off with normal tissue and do the final clean with your damp face towel. Rinse off the face towel and wash with normal clothes.


Other things to note:

Motherhood can be an overwhelming experience. Do not try and be superwoman on outside whereas you may be falling apart internally. If you need any assistance, physically or emotionally, please ask for it.

Cook and freeze food in advance. Ideal foods are things that are one-step warming... eg. Jollof, porridge, and oven meals like lasagna, sheppards pies and casseroles if you are into that kinda foods.

Do not feel you need to see or greet people constantly if they come and see you. If you are sleeping you do not need to wake up, if you are tired do not feel guilty if you have to leave guest with your hubby and retire... you can use the baby for excuse. ( also make sure that hubby is around when you have visitors so you can bugger off if required) it seems selfish but any sane person will understand.

The first few weeks will be a blurr and a shock to your system, but you will overcome it and it gets better. If you have offers of help, use it. If you dont get offers.... ASK for it if required.

Lastly, just take it one day at a time!
