In line with his commitment to welfare of civil servants in the state, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has directed the payment of April and May salaries.
The governor inherited the two months salaries from the immediate past administration in the state.
Governor Wike assured civil servants that their welfare will be given top priority by his administration.
He expressed his commitment to promoting the interest of all people resident in the state.

formally restored all the entitlements and benefits
of Sir Celestine Omehia as a former Governor of
the state.
Governor Wike on Thursday also formally
reinstated the official portrait of Sir Celestine
Omehia amongst the line-up offormer governors
of Rivers State at the Government House, Port
Harcourt Executive Council Chamber.
Performing the exercise, Governor Wike said that
the decision to restore the entitlements and
privileges of Omehia as former governor stemmed
from the fact that he worked as governor of the
state between May 29, 2007 and October 25,
2007, wherein he took decisions on behalf of the
State and initiated projects.He said: ??I hereby put
back his official portrait among those of former
governors. He is now entitled to the benefits of all
former governors. ??
The governor said that the era of politics of
bitterness in Rivers State was effectively over,
noting that it was not rightto personalise
governance as was done by the immediate past
administration.Responding, former Governor of
Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia described
Thursday as the most historic day of his political
career.
He said that the restoration of his rights as a
former governor indicates that his dark political
days are over.The event was witnessed by the
Secretary to Rivers State Government, Kenneth
Kobani, Rivers State Housing Commissioner,
Barrister Emma Okah and the State Attorney-
General, Chinwe Aguma

I trust my God no doubt about that. I'm just being realistic anyway. Malpractice or marginalisation, truth be told, if Wike and Amaehi were on good terms, those leccturers wouldn't have been sacked.

Secondly, the level of malpractice and marginalisation in the whole recruitment process was alarming. I wont go into details but if u know anyone that took part in that process ask them so u get more info. That recruitment at rivpoly was a show of shame. Funny tin is same process is abt to be repeated at rsust.

I heard that #70 billion was release to Wike by Goodluck on thursday eve before the hand over day, as take over grant, with this money I believe the governor will make us smile by paying all our arrears, and if that is done we will give him our 100% support.

Meanwhile, heard on the news this morning that Gov Amaechi has released 200million Naira for payment of all debts owed.

Let us look @ the two sides of the coin Fed. and State govt both are owing workers salaries. Some States are owing back log of salaries arrears. I am 0 happy that Rivers is inclusive, i.e owing 13000 teachers 3,4-5months salary arrears. Hence we receive our monthly salaries same time with other older employees (workers) statewide depending on ur bank and date they give u salary alert, kudos to RVSG courtesy 'AMAECHI'. Notwithstanding we should criticise constructively. Whatever you key in here is hardwired, u don't know what 2moro will be retrospecting on ur prints. 'My Piece of advise'.

Don?t be deceived, Amaechi will only pay one or two banks, and that is all.
He will only pay few banks to tell the world that he has payed April salary. This is the gospel truth.

. Where are u even getting all these ur info? First it was that we would be paid in July, now only a few banks will be paid. Pls if you're not sure, don't spread.

What I don't understand is how come only four banks have paid? Did they pay from their confines or what? I thought d arrangement was: Money would be paid to Zenith which will then be distributed to other banks. So what's happening? Were some banks own paid and d rest not?

Pls don't be offended by the info cause I know expectations are very high, never mind that has always been the case but at last our phones will definitely peep.
The regime of our Governor will soon come to an end and a new one about to take over, that reminds us of a saying that ' A true Leader protects the interest of a generation and not the interest of the next election, he equally see's the future before carrying his people along'.
Based on this, my Noble and well respected colleagues let us thank our out going governor for allowing himself to be used by The Almighty God, to offer us this honourable job by praying that his generation, the children in our care and the entire people of Rivers state shall not see evil and that the job will stay to fulfill the intentions and aspirations of our employers in Jesus name, Amen.

I don't think all the posts here should be seriously taken. Some are plainly political and from Amaechi's haters. Our salary normally starts coming from the 2nd week of the next month(for now) so I think that's when we should start expecting them. Elections haven't ended you know, opposition is still at work.

I salute our dear Gov Rotimi Amaechi who amidst all the insults, oppositions, challenges and what have you, still maintained his stand and today, in the face of the much demanded and deserved CHANGE achieved, has turned out a HERO!!! Long live Amaechi! Long live Nigeria!!
