Khan Bonfils, the British actor and performer who featured in the James Bond movie Skyfall is dead. He also starred in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, in the year 1999 as Jedi Master. The actor collapsed while rehearsing for the upcoming theatre production Dante’s Inferno which was due to open at The Rag Factory in east London this week. Paramedics and members of the Craft Theatre Company, the production company to which Khal belonged, fought so hard to resurrect him, but he couldn’t be saved. Chris Hislop, the company’s spokesman, said: “Kan collapsed during a rehearsal and the director Rocky Rodriguez Jr, he performed CPR on location. A statement from Craft Theatre said: “With great sadness, we announce the death of Khan Bonfils. His sudden loss is a tragedy and he will be sorely missed.” The cause of his death is yet to be ascertained, Chris said. “The entire company are in shock. There is absolutely severe sadness, it is a real tragedy. I think they are holding it together by talking it through and by being there for each other.” He also added that the production was due to open on Thursday. “If things go to plan and if the incoming actor is able to do the job we are hoping to open on Saturday.” http://www.gq234.com/e-news/e-news-james-bond-actor-khan-bonfils-dies/

Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria (NCSN) has called on former military head of state and Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to withdraw from the February presidential election. The Igbo Society said General Buhari should withdraw to save Nigeria from all ill wishes of 2015. The group in a statement signed by its President, Chief Udo Udeogaranya urged General Buhari to tow the path of statesman, extricate himself from the deceits of APC leaders and withdraw with immediate effect from the presidential contest, “if he has any atom of nationalism, gratitude to the country, love for the nation and progress of our dear country, Nigeria.” Udeogaranya said with the permutations of some international communities, the strikes of terror against Nigeria and the internal wounds in the nation, “it behooves on any Nigerian with the interest of the nation at heart, to do all that is within their powers to save Nigeria from the ill wishes of 2015. “We advice Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to learn wisdom from the East that have allowed and supports their brothers from the South-South to complete their tenure of eight years, as we all have allowed the South-West to have their uninterrupted eight years.” According to the group, “economically, Nigerian government depends largely on oil exports and import duties, both are derived from South Eastern soil and the people of South Eastern Nigeria, which accounts for even more developments around the nation than the South Eastern Nigeria. “Therefore any candidacy that may spill ill feelings to that section of the country may not be favourable for the nation and should rather be jettison for the good of the nation.” The group opined that Nigeria owes the South- South people another four years to complete their full tenure, “as this is their first time presiding over the nation, which they have fed for decades and four years in a nations life is nothing. http://www.peoplesdailyng.com/withdraw-from-presidential-race-igbo-group-tells-buhari/ |
Please, am not d actual poster or author of dis article. Just came across it on net and decided to share it on dis forum Mention buhari, the jonathan blind followers say he is a religious bigot. Mention Obasanjo, they say he is a habitual liar. Mention Amaechi, KWankwanso or Atiku they say these are ingrates. Mention anyone who is against Jonathan and his Administration, this Jonathan blind follower, would hit back at you with all the rants and no fact ill opinions they have, Obasanjo left more than $25 Billion in the federation account and $40 billion dollars in the foreign reserve, which was raise to $35 Billion and $67 Billion respectively, by his successor. Late President Musa Yar’Adua. after paying Nigeria outstanding debt, the foreign reserve which is now at the all time low, since Jonathan Administration took over due to squandering and reckless spending, But the question is this, is Jonathan really working for Nigeria or against Nigeria? The chibok girls, pump price of petroleum products, NNPC missing $20billion dollars, crude oil theft, boko haram, kidnappings, insecurity, Black out power supply, inflation, NNPC second account, presidential fleets, ethnicity, fall of Naira to Dollar, daily killings and bomb blasts, missing 500 billion sure-p funds and the never ending lies on the affairs of the Nation, purchasing bullet- proof cars and spending billions chartering jets, Ministry of Interior and other services collecting money from young job applicants and killing many of them, and yet no one has been held accountable, with a woman that has no political office position, disrupting lives and disseminating pathetic grammars everywhere she goes , army bases and towns captured by insurgents daily, more than 2 month old strike by health workers…..the list goes on Let him who has no sin cast the first stone, Choosing between the lesser of two evils is a wise man choice, just that in this case we only have one evil man and the change is now If obj and buhari were bad leaders, surely Jonathan has bagged a diamond medal for the worst leader in Nigerian history |

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commiserated with President Goodluck Jonathan on the untimely death of his sister, urging him to take solace in God for the unquantifiable loss. In a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the loss of a loved one is always an unfathomable tragedy, which was compounded when such death occurs at an unripe age. “We pray that God will grant repose to the soul of the departed, comfort the President and his entire family and give them the strength to bear the loss. “We also wish the immediate family of the deceased God’s succour in their moment of darkness,” it said. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=98999 |

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday said it will in the next two weeks disclose the presidential candidate the Igbo will support in the February 14 election. Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Joe Nworgu, who stated this in a chat with newsmen in Enugu, said the organisation was still consulting on the presidential candidate to support. He said it was, therefore, erroneous for anybody to say that Igbo leaders rejected Ohanaeze’s move to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan. “This is a malicious and mischievous reportage of what occurred at the Imeobi. No such event took place because the question of endorsement was not on our table. What we said as the agenda showed was ‘Ndigbo, Otu Olu’ (unity). The drive was for unity so that when we strike out, we strike out with one voice, that was the essence of that meeting. The meeting was not set out to endorse Jonathan,” he said. On when Ohanaeze would pronounce its preferred presidential candidate, Nworgu said: “We are about concluding with consultations. We will soon meet with the traditional council of Ndieze. When we consult with the traditional council of Ndieze, we will make a statement on behalf of Ndigbo. “We already know the trend and probably in the next two weeks, Nigerians will know where Ndigbo stand on presidency. They are saying we should not take a stand that Ohanaeze is non-partisan, but I will say that Ohanaeze is non-partisan if the Igbo on their own are involved; once it is within a federation like Nigeria with so many ethnic groups (inter-ethnic), we will then take position on behalf of our people. At state levels, governorship, National Assembly, local governments, we will not support any party, but we will take a stand on the presidency because it affects us.” He, therefore, said Ohanaeze was surprised and shocked to hear that Igbo leaders rejected its move to endorse Jonathan. “The report stated that there was a motion moved by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu during the last Imeobi held at the secretariat onJanuary 3 (Saturday), claiming that Chief Iwuanyanwu moved a motion for the endorsement of Jonathan and it had no seconder. These are people who were not even at the meeting. “Iwuanyanwu did not move any motion even though he was in the meeting. Iwuanyanwu’s only contribution was that he was part of the four-year tenure movement and that it was effectively amended through the processes established by the current Ohanaeze constitution. A video clip was shown of the three Imeobi’s and the General Assembly where they effected the change according to Article 29 of the Ohanaeze Constitution,” he said. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=98987 |
Unlike the 2011 general elections when President Goodluck Jonathan found favour with Nigerian church leaders with some of them out-rightly endorsing him, there seems to be a scramble by clerics to bash the president. Popular Lagos pastor and founder INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Babatunde, has joined Catholic priest Ejike Mbaka and Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly to predict the defeat of Mr. Jonathan in the coming elections. “President Goodluck Jonathan will be the last PDP president to rule Nigeria,” Mr. Babatunde, who is the church’s Primate, declared. In an interview with Daily Independent newspaper, the cleric who had many negative prophecies as the regards the country in 2015, said even though it will not be a landslide victory for the opposition, the President will lose. “No matter what, Jonathan will be the last PDP President in Nigeria. I don’t see a landslide victory in the presidential election. To be frank, neither the victory of Jonathan or General Muhammadu Buhari can guarantee peace except we pray well,” he said. “Jonathan will not take Nigeria to the Promised Land. Let us pray against the death of an ex-President.” Mr. Babatunde predicted that “There will not be election in some states”. He said the elections will be characterised by advanced rigging as “both PDP and APC will share victory across the country particularly in the South-West and the North”. The cleric asked Nigerians to observe a seven-day prayer in January to avert crisis that may plunge the nation into serious confusion during and after the polls, while stating that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will be cajoled to rig the elections. “There will be several gimmicks to cajole the INEC to rig the election. Prayers must be offered so that the commission will not lose some of its staff to accident or attack before and during the election. E-voting will not work. There will be ballot box snatching and stuffing during the election,” he said. He stressed that international communities and some heads of states will attempt to work against the re-election of Mr. Jonathan and asked the President to “be wary of diplomatic rows with foreign countries”. He urged Mr. Jonathan to fight corruption and rescue the April 14, 2014 abducted Chibok girls. Mr. Babatunde predicted election violence if Nigerians don’t pray and asked the President to commit his and his wife’s health to prayer. On insecurity, Mr. Babatunde prophesied that the bombings and kidnapping of school children witnessed in the northern parts of Nigeria will extend to the South-West of Nigeria. “I see flames from bombings in several parts of the country, including the South-West and more abduction of school pupils. Efforts should be intensified by security operatives to forestall that. Boko Haram will come up with different strategies to attack the nation. “There are three groups of Boko Haram in Nigeria already. Only prayers can weaken their strength. Countries pretending they want to assist Nigeria to curb Boko Haram are not our friends. If they are allowed, they will create more problems for the nation,” he said. The cleric asked President Jonathan to change his security details while stating that the Chief of Staff to the President will have issues with his boss and some ministers. Speaking on the governorship elections, Mr. Babatunde predicted said the APC “committed a blunder” with the choice of Akinwunmi Ambode as governorship candidate for Lagos State. “PDP will spring surprises and shock APC. If PDP works hard, the party will win Lagos governorship; however, the party’s candidate, Jimi Agbaje, needs prayers,” he said. The primate said APC will face an uphill task to retain Edo and Oyo states. He said that Governor Abiola Ajimobi might lose to Rashidi Ladoja of Accord Party, AP. “In Rivers State, if PDP underrates APC, the latter will win, though the election will be marred with violence. Attempts by the opposition parties to defeat Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State will not materialise,” he continued. He also predicted that If APC elects the right governorship candidate, the party will dislodge PDP from Ondo State in 2016. “PDP will win Delta and Cross River states but there will be crisis in Abia and Ebonyi states even though the party will win there. “APC will win in Sokoto. PDP will find it hard to retain Kaduna State because there will be serious crisis there. Kano State will be difficult for PDP to win, so also Katsina State. PDP will win Jigawa and Taraba. PDP has messed up in Kwara, the victory will go to APC,” he stated. He warned the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, of political disappointment; he said Mr. Obanikoro should pray. The primate said he foresees a rise in the Nigerian stock exchange with the effect of devaluation of naira continuing till August as Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will not be able to make appreciable impact on the economy. He claimed the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, will have crises and may be denied a second term. “Some banks will collapse and one of the dead banks will be resuscitated. Flour, sugar and fuel prices will be increased in the year. There will be serious crises in OPEC and the Controller-General of Customs and the group managing director of the NNPC will be removed. State of the nation,” he said. He asked Nigerians to pray against the recurrence of Ebola in Nigeria and prophesied that more building will collapse in Lagos in 2015. “Let traditional rulers in the South-West pray against infernos that may engulf their palaces,” he said while urging journalists and Nollywood stars to pray against sudden death. “Also, Oba of Benin, Emirs of Nupe and Zaria should pray against sickness. Some universities will be shut because of cultism and some Vice Chancellors will be queried. We need to pray to avoid plane crash in Lagos, Abuja and Kano airports. We need prayers against ocean surge in Nigeria and other African countries this year”. Mr. Babatunde predicted an outbreak of polio, cholera and fluid outbreak caused by poultry products. He finally said “National Union of Road Transport and Workers (NURTW) will face serious infighting and killings and court actions. We must pray against bloodshed among their members in different states. Some states in Nigeria will collapse from 2018, owing due to excessive borrowing from overseas”. http://www.divanaija.com.ng/jonathan-lose-2015-election-prophet-elijah-babatunde/ |
Suspected members of the Boko Haram early Saturday attacked the base of the Multi-National Joint Task Force, MNJTF, in Baga, Borno State, eventually dislodging the soldiers, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt. A senior security official who confirmed the incident to journalists in Maiduguri, the state capital, said the attack was one of the fiercest in recent times as soldiers battled to hold their grounds without much success. According to a the official who spoke on condition of anonymity, the attack on the base started at about 5 a.m. on Saturday. “We got the information that Boko Haram insurgents went and dislodged the Multinational Joint Task Force there, after a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours,” the official said. “For now, all we can say is that it was a bad outing for the soldiers because the base was practically dislodged but one cannot say specifically the extent of damaged caused on the base and personnel”. The MNJTF was created by defense and military chiefs from the six countries that make up the Lake Chad Basin Commission to combat arms trafficking, terrorism and related cross-border attacks that have continued to rise in the region. Boko Haram terrorists had seen the existence of the MNJTF as a major threat to their operations, hence they continued to attack the base and the town with a view to having full control of the area. In the last two years, Baga has suffered five major attacks with high casualty – the latest was that of November 2014 when Boko Haram terrorists ambushed fishermen returning from a night fishing expedition and slit the throats of 43 of them. Details of the damage done in the Saturday attack is still sketchy even as residents of neighbouring village of Monguno who reportedly heard the gunshots and explosions echoing in their neighborhood fled to Maiduguri for safety. The military is expected to release a statement soon on the attack. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/174231-boko-haram-attacks-military-base-baga-borno.html |
