We have discussed this topic a couple of times, but I think it's a great joy to share it with our own Nairalanders. Few weeks ago, a friend of mine told me that he has a mobile app business idea. I asked him what's the idea about. Oh my world, he said he can't easily tell me the idea, that he knows I'm a Tech Enthusiast, and I may copy his idea. He then added that he wants to get an Investor before letting anyone know about the idea. Oh! Please who has a fainting space he/she is not using? I want to come and faint for just 10 days. What the heck? What gibberish idea do you have that you think nobody else have thought of or even implemented? LET ME QUICKLY DROP THIS AND #LetsBeFrankWithIT here! This is no longer the age of "pre-seed" investing. If you doubt me, go to Quora, follow a billionaire investor like Gordon Miller. There, read his answers/comments or even ask him questions. He will tell you that a business idea is just a dream. Now here I quote him... "This, is how it is done. People don’t start out with “I have an idea for a light weight app that people can type 140 characters into. Can I have $10M?” People build the apps by self funding it and then go raise money."I personally think that most startups these days fail because of this same mentality. The mentality of not letting anyone even their closest friends know about the idea of what they want to build. They will spend hours developing, adding features and building what users does not want. Come on, you don't need this my brother/my sister. You need what is called Idea Validation. There are lots of ways to validate your business idea. I don't want to go deep on that but you can ask your prospective market users, setup a landing page to collect feedbacks or most importantly, build an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that has only but the main features of the app and launch/push it to the market. This way, you can easily measure how your business idea is welcomed. Let me tell you again that even a prototype will not get you an investor, to be honest. This is just a fallacy. If you can fund the prototype, launch it in the market, get some traction from users. See if your mobile app resonates with your users. You need to track whether your app is able to retain those users so that they keep coming back to it. If you have a good amount of retention with the first few set of users (100 or 1,000), that's a good pitch to take to an investor. Investors are not looking at ideas, they're looking at businesses that can get, retain and engage a customer. Believe me, if your app has been tested by your addressable market users and it enjoyed a reasonable traction, you don't need to worry yourself. Just sit down at home, enjoy your cup of coffee and watch how investors will come looking for you. #LetsBeFrankWithIT Cc: Lalasticlala, Seun |

We are the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Community Development Service (CDS) group in Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State. The ICT CDS group is devoted to community based projects in the area of information technology aimed at impacting and developing the skill set of youths and organizations within the community. The need for inculcating the relevance and knowledge of ICT, now more than ever, is an essential subject that should and must be advocated for. We have therefore taken as a fundamental aspect of our program, the social responsibility of reaching out to community on the utilization of information technology as a tool for solving societal problems in the 21st century. https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_130809.jpg A key focus of this program is on students and youths whom are in the learning and career defining phase. To start off this grand task of transforming the society, we have visited 3 public schools and one community social gathering in the past month where we enlightened the students on the basics of ICT, the best usage of it in our daily living, the practical step-by-step knowledge of Microsoft Excel and most importantly, Internet Culture for both the students and youths of the community. Speaking at the first event which marked our opening outing for this program/project at Clegg Girls’ Senior High School, Surulere, the President of the ICT CDS group, Frank Umeadi, emphasized ICT as an important building block for a successful career. “The job market for graduates who understand the technical and human sides of information management is steadily growing. Your skills as an ICT major make you an attractive candidate across the board. Therefore, preparing students now for these industry specific skills is vital. If Thomas Suarez at 12, could become a CEO, CarrotCorp, where he develop a popular iOS game, Bustin Jieber, and where he also believes in the fastest 3D printing, our students here in Nigeria can do better if given proper trainings and exposure.”– The ICT CDS group President continued. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikmNPo_jMpU The Project Manager, Stanley Okoli, at our recent event in New Era Girls’ Senior High School where we launched our foremost project, Internet Culture, explained the term as a study of various social phenomena associated with the Internet and other forms of the network communication, such as online communities, social gaming, social media and mobile apps. “The objective of assessing the effect of internet culture on administrative efficiency is to enhance the effective use of the various forms of online communication in contributing to the overall economic development of the country through effective administration. But the objective cannot be achieved in a situation where the would-be beneficiaries are not even aware of the existence of such platforms. Moreover, the few who are aware of these platforms do not even bother to apply them at their place of work due to stringent work style, therefore, there is the need to proffer solutions to these problems to ensure the growth and development of our economy.”- The ICT CDS group Project Manager continued. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6z0gwghzdpc We are passionate and deeply recognize (we hope you do too), that this is a vital project that should be extended to all schools and other social gatherings within the community. However, and with all things worthy of pursuit, there have been key challenges that have mitigated our reach. Chief among them is the lack of a projector within the group, which has prevented us from visiting some districts and gatherings without one. Nonetheless, we constantly provide our individual Personal Computers (PC) to ensure nothing stops us from completing this journey which we started with love. It is often said that it takes a community to educate a child; and more, we believe that when you educate a child, you raise a generation; Now is one of those times. We are confident of a positive outcome in our subsequent project outings to the less privileged schools and other social gatherings in the society in order to help raise a generation. Here, we present to you the pictures and videos from some of the beautiful moments of the training sessions. https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170515_152608.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_145719.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_145440.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_143845.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_143822.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_133647.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_133634.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_131517.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_151143.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_150730.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_141138.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_140419.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_135347.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_134414.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_134352.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170605_133759.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170515_154022.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170515_152739.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170515_152432.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170515_141057.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_152057.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_151405.jpg https://frankapptech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_20170614_151641.jpg Ode Temi, ICT CDS group Secretary, reports! #LetsBeFrankWithIT and LET ME QUICKLY DROP THIS HERE for those that did not understand the news. In the Google's I/O 2017 conference, the company never said that Kotlin is now the official language for Android Development, rather, it's now officially supported as a first class language for Android Development which will make Android Studio 3.0 have Kotlin integrated out of the box together with Java. Meaning, you can still develop with Java or Kotlin. https://frankappweb.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Kotlin-Vs-Java.jpg We just need to understand this. Of course, Kotlin is a modern Statically Typed Programming Language which makes it win a head to head against Java, though still depends on the Java Virtual Machine. It was developed from scratch by JetBrains, the company behind the IntelliJ Platform which Android Studio is based on. Unlike the over 22 years old Java originally developed by Sun Microsystems and now owned by Oracle, Kotlin was not developed to be Backward Compatible with all those old Architectures and Syntax of C and C++, it was developed from scratch to modernize the way we code which removes most of the Java's weaknesses including the smart handling of the Null Pointer Exceptions, removal of boilerplate codes and so on. With Kotlin, you would be able to write 20% lesser codes than you would in Java. It's very clean and Rapid. Compare a situation where you write about 20 lines of code to where you write a single line of code and they perform the same functions as a class... That's the kind of slap Java has received from Kotlin. I personally think that the reason Google chose Kotlin over their own GO Language or Dart is because, Kotlin is Interoperable with Java, which means that you can even mix up the two languages as you develop your apps. Also, with Kotlin, they only needed a little support for it rather than Creating an entirely new Architectures and Libraries for Android in order to support their GO Language, that's definitely a risk not worth taking, at least for now that the Android Community is full of Java Developers with thousands of Apps. Do you remember that Google and Oracle have a big feud since 2013 when Oracle claimed that Google infringed their copyright in the development of Android, and also choosing Java for development without a License from them? See, I believe so strongly that Google announced this support for Kotlin to remind Oracle that, Hey, are you aware that there are actually other languages available for Android Development? And also to remind them that Android is the reason for Java current existence. You will agree with me that, if not for Android, Java is as good as dead since 5 years ago, even though it's still been used for wearables, TVs and so on. But this is not the right way to do it. Let's take a look at what Apple did to Objective C when they chose Swift as the official language for iOS development. They made it crystal clear. Take a look: Microsoft: C# Apple: Swift Google: Java, Kotlin, C++, GO, Dart Google really need to work hard on this programming language issue and stand out like her mates. Having said these. I have an advice for anyone who wants to delve into Android Development as a career path: 1. If you are just a beginner who wants to start Android Development, I will advise you to go the Java route. In this regard, you will have access to lots of resources which will aid your ease of learning. You will definitely learn Java much easier than you would in Kotlin because of the large number of the community, and you will easily get lots of Libraries to develop arguably anything you want. Kotlin will definitely get to that level of resources but at least it will take up to the next 4 - 6 years. Believe me, Java is going no where soon. Java will always be there at least for the next decade. It's still the industry standard until we hear a more solid and convincing announcement from Google. 2. If you have been developing Android Apps with Java, I urge you to give Kotlin a trial since it's much easier to learn/migrate to with your Java knowledge, and may be someday it will become the only official language for Android Development. Just saying... Mobile Development (may be Artificial Intelligence in the next decade) is the future of technology; Embrace it with love, and the next generation will be proud of you. #LetsBeFrankWithIT http://frankappweb.com/google-announces-official-support-kotlin-android-development/ |

Technology keeps evolving at a rate most ordinary individuals are hard pressed to keep up with. In consequent of this fact IT job titles and expectations keep on changing at an even quicker rate. It is no longer news how social media can make or mar individuals these days. This virtual platform wields enormous power and information, posts, spread more than wild fire these days. It has in recent times aided greatly in bringing to fore injustices meted out to individuals even in the remotest part of countries. Again, it has also made way for people to express themselves in clear, some in unclear terms. People who could hardly talk in public have practically become vocal on this virtual community. Social media offers its users variety of ways to express themselves - through pictures, videos, write ups which can be as lengthy as a textbook. It has become an all comers affair; both sane and insane minds converge here as long one can lay hands on internet enabled phones and laptops. People tend to post whatever it is that crosses their minds without having a second thought. I've fallen victim of Facebook strict policies and have been blocked thrice, currently serving one. These were as a result of posts I made innocently and unconscious of the fact that it might contradict public view. Mind you, not explicit contents. As baffling as it seemed, some persons published same posts and weren't blocked. Different strokes for different folks. Even when I tried as much as possible to be careful with my posts, yet I was blocked. Your case might be different from mine, it's a known fact that girls and 'pictures' are inseparable Siamese twins. Most of them upload pictures with innocent mindset oblivious of the fact that a particular picture could cause their ruin. Most nude, semi-nude, seemingly nude pictures that has gone viral today were innocently posted by the owners. I bet if they had known the pictures would go viral, they would have had a rethink. Same thing goes to posts and comments people make online. Sister, brother, we all know you can talk, in fact you always have something to say about a particular issue whether your opinion is sought or not, you must always shine, it is good but kindly have a rethink, weigh the pros and cons of whatever you may want to say before posting or commenting. Some guys and girls can be raw in their gists with friends, now taking this kind of attitude to the social media is my concern. In your youthful exuberance, you are carried away not thinking about tomorrow. Most employers of labour now visit social media accounts of prospective employees in the course of interviews. This has denied many chances of being employed because of posts which were probably made with innocent minds. Some persons are highly temperamental in their relationship with people. On daily basis, you see people hauling insults on one another on the social media. Who says you can't make a decent argument devoid of insults and name-calling? Who says you can't make your point without consisting public nuisance with your wrong choice of words? Many have resorted to threatening people of opposing thoughts on issues of discourse on social media. Maybe you think, legal action can not be Institute against you? Ever thought of having threatened the live of a person and coincidentally the person dies mysteriously? Trust me, you'd be the prime suspect. Before you land yourself into such a terrible situation, retrace your steps and learn to have a decent argument. Again, some jokes have really gone bad and has gone a long way in tarnishing people's images. Some jokes which were innocently made could offend sensibilities of some set of people. Making jokes out of trivial issues can boomerang and trust me the intent of the writer or the "copier and paster" might be entirely misinterpreted. You may not have the luxury of time to explain yourself by the time the harm is done. My point, before you make that post, comment on a post thread, post a picture or video, weigh it, please view microscopically. You might not know who would lift it and share on a larger platform where people of divergent views would read it. I am Franklin Onwubiko, I am an advocate of good and positive use of the social media. http://frankapptech.com/use-social-media-franklin-onwubiko/ Cc: lalasticlala |
Please read calmly as you assimilate because this write-up is coming from my heart, just for you. So every night when you place your head on your poor mattress you begin to think; why were you born in such a poor family? Why your parents did not really made it in their own time? You don’t have cars; no house of your own; no money to even have a good meal. Even when you visit your rich uncle to explain your condition and tell him how responsible you want to be in future therefore he should help you, and instead of really helping you, he will tell you to go and face your education that it’s the key to success without giving you support to get that quality education. Now you decided in your heart that you must get there. You started studying hard and fortunately you secured an admission into higher institution where your parents did their best to train and support you as you finally graduated with a good grade. Now is time to take up that responsibility and also make your parents happy. You decided to meet that your uncle that advised you to face your education to get support from him, at least to help you secure a good job. He keeps posting and telling you that he will call you soon, and just like that, 1 year is gone. Now you are no longer happy and you are thinking, why must it be you? You already have good grade yet nobody to help you get to the limelight. You aren’t getting support from anybody. You now begin to think if God truly love you. Please erase that thought from your mind because God is merciful to all and love all that exists (Wisdom 11:22-12:2). Do you know the problem is from you? Yes you heard me right; you are the cause of your problems. You only desire but not making efforts. Even when you make efforts, you are not taking the opportunities that came from your efforts. And even when you take the opportunities, you are not really converting them to fruits. Now let’s say you converted them to fruits, you have always made the big mistake of not thanking God for your success. Don’t get it? Let’s take a look at what happened today in the Gospel (Luke 19:1-10). Jesus entered Jericho and was going through the town when a man whose name was Zacchaeus made his appearance; He was too anxious to see what kind of man Jesus was (that is DESIRE), but he was too short and could not see him from the crowd; So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus who was to pass that way (that is making EFFORT). When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and spoke to him, ‘Zacchaeus, come down, hurry, because I must stay at your house today’ (that is a great OPPORTUNITY). And he hurried down and welcomed him joyfully (that is converting OPPORTUNITY to FRUIT). They all complained when they saw what was happening, “He has gone to stay at a sinner’s house”, they said. But Zacchaeus stood his ground and said to the Lord, ‘look, sir I am going to give half my property to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody, I will pay him back four times the amount’(that is REPARATION and THANKSGIVING). And Jesus said to him, ‘Today Salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham; for the son of man has come to seek out and save what was lost’. Now I ask you brothers and sisters. What are you doing to be successful and take up that responsibility? What are you doing to get that salvation? Do you sleep and wait for grace and success to fall into your hands? Please stop feeling depressed because you don’t have a support. Stop wasting all of your time on social media claiming who you are not. How on earth would you call yourself an entrepreneur when you don’t have any product or service you are selling? Because you managed to buy a domain name for just an ordinary blog, you start calling yourself a CEO? You will come to the social media and say “If you want to start earning 100 BTC monthly like me, comment ‘I need it or inbox me’” while you don’t have a common Android phone. You will like to feel along and start saying things like “$1,000 Payoneer funds needed, inbox me” when you don’t even know what Payoneer is all about. My brethren, stop forcing yourself to feel along. Remember all fingers are not equal and we are all uniquely created by God. So instead of being on social media and making all the noise, why not sit down, think and then realize that being a graduate is just a stepping stone to your career. All those dx/dy and 2x + 3 = 9 is not the real deal to a smiling bank account. The real deal is what you can do, how you are doing it and why you are the best. Note this for sure: When you have searched for a job and no one secured yet, don’t get tired; what are we even saying, if you get tired who will feed you? So don’t ever lose hope, go to the street, look for something to be doing because it’s better to be in the street making money than to be online making just a name. Don’t mind whatever your friends, neighbours and the street will say; let them talk and let your bank account continue to smile. You know some will tell you that you should think outside the box, but I am telling you today that there is no box at all. So I advise you to stay mute, be at the background, work hard and let your success speak for you. Remember: Two days are most important in a man’s life; the day you were born and the day you discovered why. I urge you today to go ahead and discover why you were born. What are the bases? DESIRE > MAKE EFFORTS >> TAKE THE OPPORTUNITIES >>> CONVERT THEM TO FRUITS >>>> GIVE THANKS TO GOD! It's that Simple! Love it? Share it! Cc: lalasticlala , seun |

Do you sleep and wait for manner to fall into your hands? Screen Resolution continued getting better

Cast your mind back to 2007, if you will. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was one of the highest-grossing films of the year, Beyoncé was belting out ‘Irreplaceable’ and George W. Bush was President of the USA… and the smartphone universe would be forever changed by the introduction the iPhone. So it begins Upon its much-hyped release on January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs stated: “today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone”. …and they definitely did! Time magazine granted it the accolade of ‘Invention of the Year 2007’ and Apple has continued to evolve and surprise us with eight subsequent generations of iPhone since then. How has the iPhone changed since its unsuspected inception? Let us reflect on the changes that Apple has bestowed upon the world which, from what we’re seeing with the current audio-related debacle of this current generation, hasn’t always been immediately understood and accepted as smart and sane creative decisions. Battery Life The very first iPhone came with a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Measures of battery life include items such as talk time, audio time and internet use (3G or Wi-Fi). Talk time and internet use have both increased quite slowly since 2007. The first generation of iPhones could provide 10-16 hours of talk time via 3G, whereas current talk time is up to 21 hours on 3G. Internet usage was limited to around the ten hour mark in the first generation of iPhones to double that with the iPhone 7. A more dramatic increase has been seen for audio time, from just under 25 hours in 2007 to a whopping 60 hours in 2016. The current iPhone claims it can last 16 days (yes DAYS!) on standby. Given the availability of portable and wireless charging devices, battery life is less of a concern than it was nine years ago, but is still an important decision when choosing a mobile phone. Interestingly, battery weight has decreased over time, adding to the lightness of the newer models. Camera Resolution While the iPhone’s handset thickness has decreased over the years (width of 11.6 mm to 7.3 mm), its camera resolution and image quality has gone from strength to strength. The original model featured a mere 2 megapixel (MPA) camera whereas the latest four iterations have been 6 times as impressive, boasting 12 MPA cameras, as well as featuring wide-angle and telephoto lenses and both optical (2x) and digital zoom (10x). The white balance of a day time shot is now more true to life than the cosy warm hue captured by the original iPhone camera, and the vibrancy and contrast are also vastly improved. Storage Capacity The feature which has possibly increased the most over time is the iPhone’s storage capacity. The original iPhone had miniscule storage options of 4, 8, or 16 GB. Increasingly important as we download more and more apps, music and files and capture a plethora of photographs and selfies with the high spec camera, you can now obtain an iPhone with an impressive 256 GB of storage capacity. Gone are the days of having to regularly uninstall unused apps and delete unwanted photos to make enough room to receive a multimedia text message! You can also choose numerous ‘smaller’ capacity options (64 and 128 GB) for the newest iPhone to save money. Screen Resolution The iPhone 7 Plus has the largest iPhone screen to date (16 cm x 8 cm) and boasts a 1920×1080-pixel screen resolution at 401 pixels per inch (ppi), whereas the original iPhone model had a mere 320×480 pixel resolution at 163 ppi. Screen resolution has stayed fairly constant over the few most recent iterations. However, total pixel count has increased exponentially from under 300,000 to the dizzying heights of over 2,000,000 pixels! Although it may feel like we’ve reached a plateau, phones are still getting better and there are discoveries left to uncover in future iterations. It will be fascinating to see where Apple will take its iPhone over the next nine years and how unexpected it’ll be. Source: http://frankapptech.com/iphone-evolved-9-years/

resultcase:That's why they have the incognito chatting |
Valentinooo:Definitely, it will top them all very soon. I just love the smartness. lalasticlala , I guess we need to let Nigerians know more about this app |
Recently Google launched its new messaging app Allo at its I/O conference. The app comes with some smart features which was never seen before in any app, while combining altered unique features of many trend setting mobile apps. Let’s see some top features of Allo that differ it from already top performing players in the field. The @google Assistant Google’s virtual assistant can help you get the content of various types from the internet like videos from YouTube, and flight information directly from Google search engine. For example, you can ask @google what are the best flight deals for us to go New York today from London? Immediately, you can get the listings that include the time taken for journey and fare. The same can apply for nearby restaurants, hotels and other businesses. You can also ask @google “can you play us Bon Iver’s latest YouTube video?” immediately you will be able to see the video. Very smart, right? Automatic responses The app suggests auto responses as a smart app feature which saves time that users need to think. As Google said, the software that powers auto responses becomes smarter with the conversations. If you frequently use ‘haha’ or ‘lol’, the software monitors it, help you accordingly with those kind of words during the conversations. Image recognition Allo leverages Google’s image recognition software for smart reply. It means the app can recognize the received image and help to express the feeling on the image. For example, if you receive the image of a cute cat, the app can suggest you replies like ‘adorable’, ‘so cute’. Whisper or shout a message: This is very interesting. In other apps, the font size you use in the app will be same throughout the conversation, but Allo rocks here. If you want to whisper the things, you can send it in small font, or if you want to tell loudly, you can send it in large font. This you can do by holding and pressing send button, to increase or decrease the size of the text. This shows how Google understands the human nature. Incognito Chat: All we know Incognito Window in Google Chrome, now it’s time for Incognito chat. It is a self-destructing message feature, and any chat in incognito mode will not be stored permanently in server. Users can set timer for the message and once the time reached, the message destructs itself and will be nowhere available for anybody, even for Allo. It is the not the first of its kind, before many mobile app development companies developed this kind of apps following Snapchat and Telegram. But this facility in incognito window is first of its kind. Free SMS: In WhatsApp and other similar messaging apps, if you want to send messages to people, you have to make sure they have WhatsApp installed. But with the Allo, you no need to think about. You can send Allo messages to users even though they don’t have the app installed. How this works? When you’re in the contact list in Allo, you can view all your phone contacts like in WhatsApp, but what is special is you can send them message, while sending it will prompt your message will be sent via text message. Once sending, the receiver will receive an SMS message from a 5-digit number, as it is common with text message alerts from automated systems. This message will notify him that you (by name and phone number) are trying to chat with him via Allo. There will also be a link to the app’s download page in the Google Play Store. This is Google’s a clever wat to drive people toward the app. We can say there is no such app currently including WhatsApp have this kind of matured and smart features. Conclusion: Google Allo has just started its journey with an agenda of being smart. Other platforms are heading towards smarter messaging, particularly Apple introducing third party apps for iMessage and Facebook unveiling bots for Messenger. But Google has taken a step forward with full focus on multiple smart features. Let’s see how long the journey will be and how successful it will be.
