Yoruba people are one of Nigeria three main ethnic nationality. Although they presently occupy Southwest region of Nigeria, history has proven that the name "Yoruba" is a highly derogatory, a termed used by Fulani north to identify people from western region. Yoruba is believed to be derived from the word "yaribanza" signifying a bastard. According to Fulani mythologists, Yoruba's are descendants of "banza bakwai", banza meaning bastard, while bakwai mean children.Banza bakwai are not descendants of Hausa/fulani of aboriginal fulani, rather bastards resulting from uncustomary marriage. A Prominent activist, femi fani kayode have campaigned vigorously for the abolition of Yoruba and subsequent adoption of Oduduwa, the true identity of the people of southwest.

Science/TechnologyRussia Deploys Avangard Hypersonic Missile System by frankdoz(op): 10:58pm On Dec 27, 2019
Russia deploys Avangard hypersonic missile system
27 December 2019.
Russia's first regiment of Avangard hypersonic missiles has been put into service, the defence ministry says.

The location was not given, although officials had earlier indicated they would be deployed in the Urals.

President Vladimir Putin has said the nuclear-capable missiles can travel more than 20 times the speed of sound and put Russia ahead of other nations.

They have a "glide system" that affords great manoeuvrability and could make them impossible to defend against.

Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed the "Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle entered service at 10:00 Moscow time on 27 December", calling it a "landmark event".

Mr Putin said on Tuesday the Avangard system could penetrate current and future missile defence systems, adding: "Not a single country possesses hypersonic weapons, let alone continental-range hypersonic weapons."

The West and other nations were "playing catch-up with us", he said.

It is hard to determine if Russia's new Avangard hypersonic missile system really has entered service, as Moscow claims, or if this is just an advanced phase of field testing. But President Putin's eagerness to claim bragging rights is to some extent justified. Russia looks to be ahead in the hypersonic stakes. China is also developing such systems; while the US appears to be somewhat behind.

Hypersonic missiles, as their name implies, fly very fast, at above Mach 5 - ie at least five times the speed of sound. Hypersonic weapons can take various forms. They can be cruise-type missiles, powered throughout their flight. Or, they can be carried aloft on board a ballistic missile from which the hypersonic "glide vehicle" separates and then flies to its target.

Such "boost-glide" systems, as they are known (Avangard appears to be one of these), are launched like a traditional ballistic missile, but instead of following an arc high above the atmosphere, the re-entry vehicle is put on a trajectory that allows it to enter Earth's atmosphere quite quickly, before gliding, un-powered, for hundreds or thousands of kilometres.

It is not so much the speed of the hypersonic weapon alone that counts. It is its extraordinary manoeuvrability as it glides towards its target. This poses a huge problem for existing anti-missile defence systems. Indeed the glide vehicle's trajectory, "surfing along the edge of the atmosphere" as one expert put it to me recently, presents any defensive system with additional problems. Thus, if Russia's claims are true, it has developed a long-range intercontinental missile system that may well be impossible to defend against.

The announcement that Avangard is operational heralds a new and dangerous era in the nuclear arms race. It confirms once again President Putin's focus on bolstering and modernising Russia's nuclear arsenal. It's indicative of the return of great power competition. Some analysts might well see Russia's development programme as a long-term strategy to cope with Washington's abiding interest in anti-missile defences. The US argument that these are purely designed to counter missiles from "rogue-states" like Iran or North Korea has carried little weight in Moscow.

This all comes at a time when the whole network of arms control agreements inherited from the Cold War is collapsing. One crucial treaty - the New START agreement - is due to expire in February 2021. Russia seems willing to extend the agreement but the Trump administration has so far appeared sceptical. With a whole new generation of nuclear weapons at the threshold of entering service, many believe not just that existing agreements should be bolstered, but that new treaties are needed to manage what could turn into a new nuclear arms race.

SportsZlatan Ibrahimovic Rejoins AC Milan At 38 by frankdoz(op): 10:46pm On Dec 27, 2019
Former Sweden and Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has rejoined AC Milan on a six-month deal, with the option for another season.

The 38-year-old was a free agent after leaving LA Galaxy at the end of the Major League Soccer season.

The Serie A side said Ibrahimovic "will be in Milan on 2 January, 2020 to take his medical" and join his team-mates.

"I'm coming back to a club I hugely respect and to the city of Milan I love," Ibrahimovic said.

Ibrahimovic was at Serie A side Milan from 2010 to 2012, scoring 42 goals in 61 league games for the club.

He joined LA Galaxy in March 2018 and scored 53 goals during his time in the United States as well as being named in the MLS best XI teams of 2018 and 2019.

Ibrahimovic statue has nose cut off by vandals
Milan are without a major trophy since their 18th Italian title in 2011.

The seven-time European champions are enduring a miserable season, sitting 11th in Serie A, with 21 points from 17 games.

They sacked coach Marco Giampaolo in October but results have not improved under his replacement Stefano Pioli and they lost their last match 5-0 at Atlanta on 22 December, their biggest defeat for 21 years.

"I'll fight together with my team-mates to change the course of this season. I will do everything to make it happen," added Ibrahimovic.

Politics12 Prophecy And Quotes Of Nnamdi Kanu That Have Been Fulfilled by frankdoz(op): 8:03am On Dec 27, 2019
Today we bring to you the quotations of Nnamdi Kanu, The leader of the IPOB group, take a look at them and tell us if they have in any way come to pass.

Here They Are;

On 6th Feb. 2014 #NnamdiKanu said:

“As they campaign vigorously for elections, you would think, they are coming to grow the economy, enthrone justice, breed unity and tolerance, love for one another. No, they are coming to enthrone Hausa Fulani supremacy, to reposition the security agencies by sacking all competent hands and replace them with their kinsmen in order to drive their ethnic domination of the south, the Fulani herdsmen will be armed and encouraged to slaughter us with impunity and their masters will protect them. They are coming to ensure that my people are enslaved forever. Those who do not believe me will soon see it happen before their eyes”

ON 12 Oct 2014:

“The Fulani will take over the entire south as a continuation of their age old agenda to Islamize Eastern Nigeria. They will brazenly seize our land in pretence of creating crazing fields for the Fulani. Then the conquest will be complete, we will become their slaves forever”

On 6th Nov 2014

“Between Jonathan and Buhari, none is good for us. Freedom remains our only option, Jonathan is weak and confused, Buhari is a bloody thirsty tyrant, who will destroy the land with his parochial view point. His kinsmen will take over the military and the security architecture of the land. Christians and Easterners will become endangered species; He will use the security apparatus to advance the agenda of his ethnic group. My people will suffer”

On 2nd Dec. 2014

“Then a group deadlier than Boko Haram will emerge, they will seize our farmland, rape our women, kill our people and their master will protect, defend and even arm them, because their sole agenda is to enslave us forever. Those who cannot see it now, will soon see it. The hatred in their souls for my people is legendary. They do not see us as humans. They kill, they slaughter, they burn and they destroy. Mindless bloodletting is in their DNA. My people are in trouble”

On 16th Jan 2015

“Unity flows with love and mutual respect. This artificial unity with people who see you as an infidel and unbeliever is fake and dangerous. We are better off on our own. They kill with impunity, yet they say we must stay together. They have only one agenda, to chase away Jonathan and enslave us forever.

They are coming with vengeance, anger and revenge for the years they stayed out of power. They plan to intimidate, silence and enslave us. Their world view is so strange and different from ours, we are in big trouble”

On 15th March 2015

“All we ever wanted is freedom to realize our full potentials in the space of land God Almighty placed us in this planet, but there are persons whose agenda is to intimidate and dominate others. They hate freedom, justice and fair play. They enslaved Northerners for centuries, they want to extend and replicate this dominating culture down South. They use terror as a weapon of intimidation, they have no regard for non-Muslims, they hate us with passion, yet they won’t let my people go. Their only desire is to dominate and oppress others, once they are out of power; they immediately resort to either Pogroms (1966) Sharia law introduction (2000/2001) or Boko Haram (2011).

They are enemies of peaceful co-existence. We want freedom, we respect justice and equity, and above all, we respect the sanctity of human life. These people do not; they use terror to intimidate and subdue in order to rule over everybody else”

7:45AM

A MUST READ FOR ALL BIAFRANS...

In the land of the rising sun, hungry, malnourished and lacking vigour, we silently laid concealed, away from the dusty road, hidden among a huge throng of clustered oil palm trees and thick shrubs, maintaining our focus and ambush like determined predators waiting patiently for a targeted prey to stroll in.

Though physically depraved and worn out, our mental strength, however, refused to wane, as we stayed united, brother to brother, kinsman to kinsman, enveloped under one umbrella, viciously poised towards defending our sovereign State.
We were valiant warriors of Biafra.

Approximately seven hundred in number positioned for the defensive mission, scarcely armed and poorly equipped, we, however, felt like a dozen venomous hornets rallying together, ready to sting very deeply into the callous veins of the advancing infidels, the Nigerian Army.

Relying solely on sensitive information garnered from the enemy camps by our specially trained Intelligence Unit which most times produced positive results, we hoped this mission wasn't going to be any different. While patiently waiting, our heightened morale desperately struggled hard to mask the thick stench of fear which gradually polluted the atmosphere. Truth be told, we were in a battle against a more vicious, sophisticated and determined enemy.

"Keep your spirits high, gentlemen."

The high pitched voice of Major Nduka, a renowned war veteran and combat strategist who hailed from Nnewi, thundered round the besieged perimeter, his words spreading like rippled waves from an earthquake. He could read the cold downcast written on the faces of his men, it was infectious.
His powering words, to an extent, rattled our wandering souls back to reality.

Anayo, my elder brother who got conscripted same day with me, had a major part to play in the artillery brigade. I watched as he nervously placed into position the ingenious Bucket Bomb popularly called "Ogbunigwe," known for its highly destructive power and combat efficacy.

I still remember his parting words before we set out the previous day.

"You're all I've got. Be careful. See you when it's all over, brother."

Those poignant words were pure and straight from his heart. A month ago we witnessed the painful death of our aged parents killed by a grenade hauled from an overly ambitious Nigerian soldier while they ran for their lives. Their frail legs couldn't beat the speed of flying shrapnels from the deadly explosion. They died seconds before help could arrive, leaving us in the gaping jaws of a blood thirsty, monstrous army. We barely escaped alive.
Not long later, we both got enlisted into the Biafran armed forces.

With a wry smile, he hastened to his unit, waving a hand wrapped with the Holy Rosary at me. He always had it on.

2:45PM.

"They are here! The Nigerians, they are here!

The shrill cry of Corporal Okoro, the sentry, roughly rattled our fizzling consciousness back to life as he pointed afar of. From a distance we could see them, our Intel was right. In their droves they wheeled in dozens of fortified trucks heavily loaded with military supplies, large caches of ammunitions and fierce looking fighters, all heading towards our cordoned perimeter. It was a whole Division, they were in their thousands, and we were apparently no match for their strength nor firepower.

Immediately, a rain of panic completely drowned our morale down the drain. Any mistake made at compromising our positions would surely mean the end of it all.
It was obvious, the Nigerian army were the real soldiers, we were like hunters. The difference was crystal clear.

"Steady, men...steady."

Major Nduka calmly instructed, he had sensed the sudden ill wind of fear blowing across the faces of his already daunted men.
Though many were tempted to run away, I was tempted, too, however, we believed his words. From my vantage position I could see Anayo holding the Ogbunigwe with trembling hands, I could percieve his fear. Everyone held his breath strongly, the only sound heard came from revving military trucks and armoured personnel carriers, it was a long convoy. While they came closer and closer, we waited patiently for the assault command from our Commanding Officer. It never came.

Suddenly, a thundering explosion went off.
A tension soaked Biafran soldier, struck with cold feet, had accidentally detonated one of the bucket bombs before the order was given, letting off at a speed of light an unguided missile which directly hit one of the ammunition carrying trucks of the enemy, setting it wild ablaze.
Series of massive implosions followed seconds later, obviously from boxed live ammunitions ignited by the impact. A wild conflagration trailed every truck belonging to the enemy.

In the ensuing carnage, we could see grotesque faces of burning Nigerian soldiers struggling desperately to set themselves free from the powerful inferno, unfortunately, a host of them couldn't. We watched them burn helplessly to death, the lucky ones disembarked as quickly as possible. It had dawned on them they were besieged, a fiery exchange of fire began.

"Open fire!"

Major Nduka briskly ordered us, his deep cry vigorously charging every unit towards the retreating infidels who still fought back like wounded lions. They possessed sophistry, yes, however, we had our locally made bombs, Ogbunigwe, and the spirit of Biafra leading. Fear had deserted us, we were determined as a small unit to win. It was a long battle.

Suddenly, the war tempo changed, they began to advance, attacking our flanks deeply, mounting severe pressure on our weakest corners. They had a ruthless, draconian Commander who, despite his imminent loss, urged them on. His orders to them were simple, to neutralise our formidable artillery as quickly as possible. Their sudden switch began to pay off as they gradually encroached, however, we regrouped immediately, guarding and defending our fort with our lives. Running out of ammunitions, we fought on, overrunning them from all quarters, managing to force them to a final retreat. We won the battle.

The celebration which clouded our camp was frenetic, it was filled with an electrifying feeling of hope.
A song of victory could be heard, it was sung in our local dialect.
It kept the fire of a new nation, Biafra, alive.

In the ensuing celebration, we secured our perimeter yet again against any further attacks. Our dead and wounded fighters were thoroughly accounted for, however, we all frantically searched for one person, my brother, Anayo.

His peaceful remains was however found buried in a heap of debris with his Rosary still in hand.

He was killed in action.
