Politics / My Idea Of How To Improve Accountability In Public Offices by frankwizzy(m): 11:25am On May 24, 2010
I woke up with the idea that if there was a weekly newspaper that concentrated on highlighting the achievements and unachievements of these our public office holders especially local govts and state governors.
what brought the thought to mind was the fact that there wasnt really any sort of avenue where their achievements can be judged without biase, so from the minute you step into office this newspaper journalists documents what contracts get asigned and which ones get carried out and the ones that dont, we also know who spends their time throwing and attending parties instead of doing their job, the motivation for that thought was the fact that fashola is working so hard to improve lagos and same with some local govts as well but people tend to attribute any development in lagos to fashola without realising that some local govts are actually working aswel while some are just there to get paid and milk the community dry without doing what they are meant to do.
By documenting all of this achievements and flaws people actually know the true pictures of the people ruling them and the performers can get kudos and awards for performance monthly or quaterly while the non performers get boos and everyone can know the non performers making it more difficult for them to tell any silly lies as their position on the achievers list would speak for themselves.

p.s iam not a journalist but i would love to see this come to reality as it would do its own piece to get this politicians in check, at least maybe the prospect of coming up repeatedly as the least performing governor or local govt chairman might shame them enough to perform.

Business / Re: FG: Nigeria’ll Not Enter Recession by frankwizzy(m): 1:08pm On Oct 12, 2009
iam surprised anyone out there thinks nigeria hasnt been in recession for God knows how many years now!!

imagine how many millions of nigerians travel abroad to different parts of the world to work, and one way or another they are able to seek some form of employment and get paid reasonably well enough to have enough to feed themselves and their families back in nigeria, in my books apart from the fact that those countries must be doing very well economically i reckon nigeria on the other hand should b able to provide employment for whats left of her workforce since so much of its citizens seem to find a way to relieve the country of the burden of providing them any employment.
well it just so happens that the govt either does not give a rats ass about its people and whether they starve or not or they are just too shallow minded to imagine how much more nigeria would be a force to reckon with internationally if only they stopped their dependence on oil and invested in developing different other sectors of the economy, thereby creating employment and keeping hold of the vast amount of great minds we seem to have an innate ability to waste in nigeria while the coutries that value them snatch them up from under our noses.
dudes our simple inability to create employent in nigeria is a very big sign of how much and how long we have been in a recession.
now thats not even mentioning the other aspects of our economy thats been in a rot for years and years.

frankly i really do applaud the lot of nigerian educated and enlightened youths that actually have the patience to watch nigerian movies when there are loads more better movies to watch on t.v, i find it amusing that sometimes the same mind that would watch, fully comprehend and appreciate a brilliant hollywood movie with captivating dialogue scenes, and acting that would leave you with goose bumps all over, would actually have the patience to go past 5mins into a nigerian movie, without getting paid to take the punishment!!
i've got nothing against low budget or low cost movies especially from an undeveloped country like ours, but what drives me nuts is really dumb and stupid story lines that insult my intelligence and mediocre acting and actors that saturate the industry.
I watch a few hollywood movies at times and feel ripped off so bad i wanna demand my money back from the cinemas, but the difference is the vast majority of people feel the same way,
sometimes i dont even think a hollywood movie is that bad but the public perception could be that its a crap movie hence receiving very dreadful reviews from the public forcing the directors and actors involved to go back to the drawing board and figure out what the issue was with the movie and ultimately for the director fix what he got wrong on his next project and for the actors involved be more careful bout the roles they accept in the future, either ways on the next outing there's gotta be an improvement which is good for the actors, directors and the viewing public as they dont feel ripped off when they watch the next movie any of them is involved in. but with naija movies
the people who buy and watch it seem to me to be the most accepting viewers ever as they would watch and buy anything thats thrown at them regardless of how much its meant to annoy the regular logical human being.
