I think its a bit unfair to lump some of these artistes (particularly the older generation artistes) as financially reckless. First off, music wasn't paying that much back in the days, coupled with the scourge of piracy and exploitation on the part of the promoters / music executives.

Most of the older generation artistes had nothing but fame!
