I'm yet to read it though I downloaded years back.

It's layout is somewhat akin to John Bunyan's Pilgrim Progress.

Yes I think it is, this is the kind of book were you really have to sit down and read it.
Each character is a thread and the author weaves a beautiful tapestry.

the russian names go scatter brain

however the author is a genius the characters and emotions are relatable
