conjugal:Here, its SOC 111 (Introduction to Sociology) |
Eleniyan15:First Class is For God! At least that's what those bunch of proffessors will tell you! As statistics have it, our department has the largest number of professors, almost all the lecturers in our dept. are professors how person want take get first call when na over sabis (no offence meant) they lecture us! |
nairalandmaster:Nah, maybe the best I can do is become a troll like you but it will be totally useless doing such because unlike you' am trying to be responsible here. |
Am a little reluctant (or let me be truthful; very reluctant) bring this here because of scammers and time personal security. But as they said "A problem shared is half solved" and as my mom always says "Never discriminate or underate anybody". Am an Undergraduate at the University of Jos here in Plateau state and am in need of a job urgently to support myself and get rid of the idleness I face at home after lectures. Am a computer literate (I know nada about graphics) and do have a working experience as a bussiness center manager (operating computers and photocopiers; 2 years) and as a Secretary in a Secondary/Primary school for about 4 years. I even had a stint as a bartender for some months. I had to leave my last job (as a Secretarian) when I got admitted. So am soliciting for any Nairalander's with connection they've got ranging from anything "doable" like; a secretary, bartender, typist, fuel pump attendee, waiter, delivery guy e.t.c in Jos and environs to help a brother out. I would really appreciate if I can get a job with shifts especially from 2pm till night time as most of my lectures are more of a morning to afternoon this semester. and morever...unijos are presently on strike and at home doing nothing. Thanks as I anticipate postive replies from Narialanders. cc: lalasticlala help bring this to awareness. |
EseBosun:wow! I guess that would be very nice. For ya'll.....learn a little sbout the founding fathers of Sociology by googling their names and getting texbooks. The bulky ones *winks* Auguste Comte Emile Durkheim Max Webber Karl Marx Those are the ones I can remember now |
EseBosun:Also a Sociologist? |
Babice:lol...the good Lord always knows what's good for his kids. Welcome to the club! We are the concience of the Society |
cassyrooy:Stats is easy (that's what I deduced in my first semester) if you have a nice and easy going lecturer like mine (by the way, he's also my Dean) I kinda hate maths but i learn quick if I have someone who tutors me in an understanding way. As a matter of fact, I was the best maths student back in J.S.S 3. #teamhatemathsbutlikecountingmymoney! |
Babice:you will definitely love....why? because you've got no choice! lol |
Babice:Thanks miss Babice, you are so generous. But if I may ask...what prompted you into going for Sociology? |
cassyrooy:yep bro...and here in unijos, if you don't pass it, its prerequisite, meaning you must pass it to study its elder brother. In short......one more year things! |
Babice:I mean the harder part of it comes in year 2 |
Babice:Am really sorry. I concluded without any research or evidence that you were a dude which bad fof a Sociologist. Am really sorry Miss/Mrs. Babice. *slapping myself for getting it wrong* |
Babice:lol....Statistics is waiting for you....when you get to year 2, you might end up having what you are bargaining for |
Eleniyan15:Sociology was never a course I had in mind to study, as a matter of fact, while registering my jamb, I was show the top four social science courses, Everybody was opting for Pol. Sci so i decided against it. Economics? I hate maths! Psychology? I hate mind and brain gigs Sociology? Yes! Because I thought it was devoid of anything mathematical (even though I later found out I was wrong) Along the way...I wanted changing to Pol. Sci. because I wanted to go into the Military (didn't pass the NDA exams I went for which a opted for a degree in Pol Sci) but my uncle who was learned told me Sociology was the best if really I wanted to be in the military and am loving it! |
Eleniyan15:Here in Unijos its Sociology and Anthropology. The department is known as "Sociology department" and the Association is callled NSASA (Nigerian Sociology and Anthropology Student Association). Soc. and Anthro. are interwoven together because they borth study the society Soc. initially emerged to study the "Industrial West" while Anthro existed long before Soc. to study the "Non-Industrialized Society" which may also refer to a society without written literature. Their method of data collection are even very different. Soc. deals with questionnaires, sampling and statistical techniques, Anthro deals with Ethnography (google the word!). although they are interwoven....they are two different fields which yoy can major in. For us in Unijos here...Anthropology is only dealt in year one. |
Eleniyan15:my brother....Almighty ASUU (Unijos Chapter) went on strike last week Thursday ooo |
Eleniyan15:Them dey suffer no be small ooo....too much mathematics makes the brain dull #my_opinion |
Eleniyan15:This your write-up just reminded me of one of my assignmentsvin my first semester, it was a group assignment and I was the group leader and my group left me with the task of soing everything! wrote almost what you wrote here and many more! |
Babice:Its means, Sociology plays a vital role in all these Social Sciences courses and regarded (especially by me) as Queen of all social sciences It was also a slogan used to win an intra-debate in our faculty |
Eleniyan15:Maybe he should have gone for Economics......lol |
Babice:lol....seems you are a brain-box...just try and keep a clear mind bexause wherever Pol Science, Psychology and Economics are gathered, there must be Sociology in their midst. gbam Proud NSASites |
for non-lover of Maths like me..I think you guys should prepare for Statistics (unless if its different methods Universities uses...which I doubt) and its a prerequisite; which means if you dont pass you are adding one more yea in the uni. from experience, you'll do a little bit of: psychology African Traditional Religion Pol Sci History Statistics Anthropology Philosophy and some others just for year one |
That's what i applied for and I was admitted last year |
Is she fúçking or suffocating him *confused* |
Babice:Sociology...am thinking being a social worker or strategic officcer in the military would be where I would like to be after my degree programme |

That would be University of Jos. |
Djangocode:Thirded!!! |
As a matter of fact, I don't know what I want to use mine for. lol.... |

This is a copy of the letter that was forwarded by ASUU to the VC. |
The Academic Staff Union of Universities; Unijos chapter has/will embark on an indefinite strike from 12 midnight of Thursday 22nd of October 2015. This was contained in a letter to the VC of the University which was signed by the Chairperson; C. G. Piwuna and the Secretary; L. L. Maigoro of ASUU. For us the Undergraduates of the Instittution, it all started as a rumour being circulated for almost two (2) weeks now around school but many thought it was baseless not knowing that behind every rumour, is an atom of truth. Unfortunately, or should I say fortunately for some the "bomb" was dropped today. For us students of Sociology (100 level), we got to know about it when a lecturer of ours who we were to have a class with cancelled the class due to a meeting she has with ASUU. The statement was on its way to confirming our the aforementioned rumour but did not really nailed it until the broadcast was made. Some students are happy because it will give the some rest and an avenue to try their hands ob new ventures while some are not because it will definitely affect the school calender and their stipulated "graduation day". But anyway, I pray it shouldn't be very long because "no matter the nature of food you dey cook, if you allow burn, e no go get taste again" |
