OPEN LETTER TO THE NEW CBN GOVERNOR, CARNDOSO

Dear Mr. Governor,

The rate at which Dollar to Naira exchange rate skyrockets recently requires you to take some drastic steps to rescue the collapse of Nigeria economy.

Having taken time to study this challenge, the solution is hereby proposed that the federal government should make pronouncement, or to give executive order that the personal possessions of Dollars in Nigeria should be illegal.

It should be declared that only registered business ventures should be allowed to transact with dollars, and the currency must only exist in the domiciliary accounts.

Possession of dollars by individuals should be declared illegal, and Police ahould be strenghtened to arrest any culprit.

A lot of Nigerians abuse the currency, stock them in their houses in excess, leading to its scarcity for business transaction, which is responsible for the high exchange rates.

The worse part of it is that some Nigerians go to party to spray enormous dollars lavishly, and this act should be declared illegal. Anywhere it is practised, the organiser of the event and the spenders should be jailed.

Some politicians also stock billions of dollars in their houses. The dollars that are found wanting in the banks are stocked purposelessly in their custodies, particularly the lawmakers. This attitude is very bad to our economy and should declared that anyone found with dollar bill at any spot should be arrested.

It is of no use that Nigerians must carry dollar bills around, some even shamelessly display them on social media, without in any affiliation to international transaction.

The system of third party involvements in procurement of dollar bill should be banned.

It is time for the new CBN governor to take this drastic step to rescue Nigeria from the path to economic perdition.

In the countries where dollars are their legal tenders, do we see their patriots place so much value on Naira to the extent that it is abused? This is the time to rescue the economy by declaring the use of dollar should be only through domiciliary accounts.

Then, Naira's value would gradually be revived.

May God direct our noble course and guide our leaders right.

One Nigeria

Nigeria will rise again

The true fact

Freegift75:
HOW NEW YEAR CALENDAR INFLUENCED IJEBU HISTORY!

by Dr. Saint
Jan. 1st, 2023

The origin of New Years' celebration dates back to 2000 B.C in Mesopotamia. This first day of new calendar Year has over time turned to a tradition of festival prominently celebrated in most countries of the world.

Around 800 BC, a new calendar consisting of 304 days was created by Romulus, the founder of Rome, and this calendar had just 10 months, beginning with March 1st as the first day of the year.

Years after, a new revolution sparked in 59 BCE, the year Julius Caesar vied for the consular elections at age 41 in Rome with which he won. Julius Caesar was a political and military genius who overthrew Rome’s political order and replaced it with a dictatorship. As part of his social reform, Julius Caesar instituted order and moved the beginning of the year from March 1 to January1.

Resulting from his new order, in 45 B.C., a calendar consisting of twelve months took effect with January 1 as first day of the year. This calendar employed a cycle of 365 days, followed by a year of 366 days (leap year). But unfortunately, Julius Caesar was later assassinated in 44 BCE. And, from 44 BCE to 31 BCE, the assassination of Julius Caesar torn the Roman world apart and resulted to the Battle of Actium, the civil war that spanned up to 13 years. This war, historically, instigated the first Itsekiri people migration to their present area in today’s Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the Church didn’t like the idea of the New Year being celebrated on January 1st, so they played around with the dates a little. At first, they changed the start of the year to 25th of December. When later decided to celebrate Christmas on December 25th, the New Year changed to March 25th. Hence, the church in Rome began formally celebrating Christmas on December 25 in 336 AD.

Eventually, Pope Gregory XIII, during his reign, realized that there was nothing wrong with the old way of celebrating New Year, so he changed the date back to the 1st of January in 1582 AD. As a result, it was later named after him to become Gregorian Calendar, and was adopted mainly by countries under Roman Catholic rule, including Spain, Portugal and France.

Contrary to the above, the primordial Jebu kingdom in today’s Nigeria was attributed to the Ethiopian calendar, a tradition of the celebration of New Year on September 11, before the arrival of Portuguese explorers who conveyed the January 1st tradition to West Africa. Premised on the fact that the progenitors of the primordial Ijebu were of Ethiopia origin, they migrated with Ethiopian culture and tradition.

Ethiopian New Year is celebrated on 11 September. As a Land of Origins, a cradle of human beings, Ethiopia is one of the few ancient civilizations in the world with their own alphabets and calendar. One of the reasons why Ethiopia celebrates its New Year during this month is a belief that the number of daylight hours and nighttime hours happens to be exactly equal around the globe once every September, with belief that the creation of the Heavens and the Earth took place in September. Thereafter, Ethiopia chose September 11 to celebrate the beginning of a new year on the fact to immortalize the date Queen of Sheba return from Solomon.

According to Ethiopian tradition, on 11 September around 980 BCE, Queen of Sheba (Makeda in Ethiopian) returned to Ethiopia from her visit to King Solomon in Jerusalem. Her followers celebrated her return by giving her jewels. The day of her return was nationalized to become the first day of Ethiopian calendar, which they observe till date.

Years later after the child bore to Solomon returned from Jerusalem to Ethiopia, Queen of Sheba abdicated the throne and handed over the rulership authority to her Son, the act that instigated her sojourn into exile, which oral tradition and archaeological researches asserted she later founded a new kingdom described to be the first Ijebu Kingdom in today’s Nigeria.

Later, Prince Orlua (corrupted to OLU-IWA) the Son of King Agabu arrived after Makeda’s demise had collapsed the primordial kingdom, and he constituted a new kingdom that his heir, Awujale, rules over till date. Reason it is referenced in Ijebu eulogy as, *“Jebu Esen Orlua”* (corrupted to Ijebu Ereluwa) meaning Ijebu the descendant of Orlua (Olu-Iwa).

After the demise of Queen of Sheba in around 8th BCE, the Jebus in today’s Nigeria were used to celebrating New Year in September. It became the tradition for Awujale to lead others to usher New Year prayers at Queen of Sheba’s tomb in Oke Eri.

This September tradition was consistently practiced until later usurped by the influence of the Portuguese to adopt Gregorian calendar in 18th century AD. Portuguese voyages to the coast of West Africa introduced a lot of civilization and social reform amongst which include education and religion.

According to the legend, the tradition of Awujale performing yearly prayer for Ijebuland at the tomb of Queen of Sheba in Oke Eri, initially in September and later in January, succeeded up till the reign of Awujale Adesanya before the it was later aborted, especially when the civilization began to set in and Gregorian calendar became the order of the day from the Missionaries.

Hope you are blessed with this article….. *HAPPY NEW YEAR*

Proudly Ijebu.

Since the commencement of the presidential campaigns in Nigeria, having studied the mindset of the candidates' followers, I have come to realise that the same people who believed and propagated that Buhari was replaced with Jubril of Sudan are frankly the same followers who queue behing Peter Obi.

Since the beginning, I have never heard Peter Obi making any meaningful remarks, no projecrion of good agenda, no manifesto that portrays him as the man who understands the problem of Nigeria with solution.

The same way and manner they attempted to ridicule Buhari with fake propaganda and they failed, they have queued behind Peter Obi with so much hatred for Tinubu.

SOME UNDENIABLE HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT IJEBU AND EGBA!

• AWUJALE SHARED BOUNDARY WITH ALAAFIN AT MOLETE SIDE AND RULED OVER ALL THE SETTLEMENTS WITHIN

• THE TOWNS CALLED EGBAS WERE KNOWN AS ORILES FALLING ON THE TERRITORIES OF BOTH OYO AND IJEBU

• THE ORILES WERE ABOUT 143 VILLAGES KNOWN TO BE INDEPENDENTLY RULED BY THEIR RESPECTIVE MINOR MILITARY CHIEF

• MOST OF THE DWELLERS IN THOSE VILLAGES WERE PREDOMINANTLY THE INFLUX OF IJEBUS AND EGBAS

• MAJORITY OF THE PROGENITORS OF THE VILLAGES WERE OFFSPRINGS OF AWUJALE OR JEBU DESCENTS

• THE TOWN KNOWN AS ODO-ONA IN IBADAN WAS FOUNDED BY PRINCE ONAMADE (ODO ONAMADE CORRUPTED TO ODO-ONA), PRINCE OF AWUJALE

• DURING UPHEVEAL, TOP EGBA CHIEF WAS IMPRISONED IN IJEBU AND CHAINED FOR SIX MONTHS BY AWUJALE

• AFTERMATH OF OWU WAR LED TO THE DISPERSAL OF THE ORILE VILLAGES

• WAR CHIEF MAYE OF IFE AND LABOSHIDE OF IJEBU INSTRUCTED LAMODI, THE EGBA WAR CHIEF, TO LEAD THE PEOPLE OUT OF THE TERRITORY

• LAMODI DIED ON THE WAY AND SODEKE SUCCEEDED HIM TO LEAD THE PEOPLE OF ORILE TO ABEOKUTA

• THE PEOPLE OF IJEBU FLED WITH THEM TO SEEK REFUGE UNDER OLUMO ROCK. AND MOST OF THE EGBAS IN ABEOKUTA TODAY HAD IJEBU ORIGIN

• SETTLEMENTS LIKE ORILE-IGBEIN, ORILE-IMO, ORILE-IGBORE, ORILE-IKANNA, ORILE-IFOYE, ORILE-ILOGBO AND MANY MORE WERE ALL IJEBU SETTLEMEMTS BEFORE RELOCATION

• EGBA VILLAGES KNOWN AS ORILES HAD NO HISTORY OF KING AS RULER UNTIL AFTER RESETTLED IN ABEOKUTA THAT THE FIRST KING, ALAKE CROWNED IN 1854

• MOST OF THE SETTLEMENTS STILL WORSHIP AGEMO DEITY AS A SYMBOL OF THEIR AFFLIATION WITH IJEBU

• THE STOOL OF ALAKE IS MINOR TO AWUJALE TRADITIONALLY

Nairaland / General / Queen Elizabeth Immortalized In Ijebu by Freegift75: 1:30pm On Sep 09, 2022
QUEEN ELIZABETH JUNGLE IN IJEBU IGBO

Have you ever heard of Queen Elizabeth Jungle on the territory of Ijebu Igbo kingdom?

If you are seeking the biggest elephant in the world, there you find it!

Queen Elizabeth Jungle is a forest reserve created in 1949 but named after her after her visit to Ijebuland in 1956. It is a forest reserve typically restricted by law for any hunter to carry out any hunting expedition.

It all started that during colonial control in 1901, there was forest proclamation made to regulate log exploitation. As a result, a forest ordinance to establish forest reserves was put in place in 1908.

In 1914 after the amalgamation of Nigeria, colonialists surveyed a portion of land on Ijebu Igbo territory for special reservation. After the survey, by 1916, a Forest Reserve was created, named OMO FOREST RESERVE and registered with the goal to produce sawn timber on sustainable yield basis.

In 1946, the Nigerian Forest Department established in some of her Forest Reserves some portions called *Inviolate Plots* “to deliberately preserve typical pieces of Nigerian Forest in an untouched state for posterity”.

The Inviolate Plot was carved out of the Omo Forest in 1949 and later named Queen Elizabeth Jungle. Since 1954, these areas have been designated Strict Natural Reserves (SNR’s) by the Federal Department of Forest Research(now Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria ). Every specie of logs and animals found on this portion is preserved and protected by law against any encroachment by both hunters and forest merchant.

The Omo Forest Reserve covers an area of about 132, 090 hectares of which 25, 562 hectares were carved out and otherwise known as the inviolate plot or Queen Elizabeth Jungle. And the forest was recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve in 1977.

As far back to 1977, the Queen Jungle was monitored by both land and air security to preserve every content of the portion of the land. The most wildest animals like Lion, Elephants and others are found there. In the past, helicopters were often time seen by the nearby villagers hovering over the land to secure it.

However, the said Forest reserve has been recognised by UNESCO as Queen Elizabeth Jungle, amongst other Jungles named as J1, J2, J3 and J6 on the territory of Ijebu Igbo. This has become a measure of Queen’s immortalization in the history of Ijebuland.

The Queen of Elizabeth lived from 1926 to 2022. May her Soul rest on.

Peter Obi LIED TO GULLIBLE FOLLOWERS

I said it!!

Peteru Giringori Kolanut is a SCAMMER per excellence! Someone with a weak Pass score grade in pursuit of degree in Philosophy, had gone to attend a Bank AGM shareholders meeting and later for sight seeing of power plants in Egypt. This he later sold its dummy to the unsuspecting public as 'TECHNICAL 'study tour of power generating facility in Egypt......
Iro l'abi Peteru Giringori Kolanut!

Max Obinna Njaka put it more succinctly:
Nonsense! O kwa ndi aghoriri ka'eriri?

You travel to Egypt for sight seeing walks- tourism! And such is being orchestrated on social media, to the gullible mindsets, as a technical tour of how power generating facilities are being run effectively in Egypt!

So, assuming it was indeed a power generating plant, how come you are seen alone in the midst of the Egyptian Engineers?
What exactly do you know about power generation and the technical architecture of a power plant?

Who are the electrical engineering experts you took along for the much orchestrated trip? And why are they not with you on this assessment tour explaining the technicalities to you by interpreting the jargons?

If Peter Obi want to be President , he must start acting truly as someone who's sincere and not acting up stuff and scamming Nigerians!!!
After womenfolks fear Nigeria's politicians! Perhaps Peteru Giringori Kolanut took us all as mgbadas

Please is it the same Tinubu that once suggested the CBN prints more Naira notes to curb the dollar rise that you are talking about? Please please please this Tinubu joke is really getting out of hand and embarrassing. Every sane mind knows that Tinubu is not a Presidential material. The man has a lot of baggage with him that will make Nigeria a laughing stock if elected. How many practical and useful solutions to National issues has he proffered before? So all the blind eyes and deaf ears to his people's plight in the hands of marauders was because he was eyeing the Presidency? So as long as Tinubu is concerned you can decimate his people but give him the throne? So Tinubu intentionally inflicted Buhari on Nigerians because of his inordinate ambition? What has become of our conscience and sanity as a people? Has money and wealth of men blinded us? You can't seriously be angling for a Tinubu when we have the Adewumi Adeshinas, the Okonjo Iwealas, the Soludos, the Zulums etc. Why are we so fixated on the past and expired? What did Tinubu actually achieved as gov of Lagos State? What was his networth before and after? Why is he still holding the state ransome? Who brought in the disaster of a President that Nigeria is praying to finish and go? Who wanted to use Oshiomole to cause confusion in Edo State and other states before he was booted out? Please how old is Tinubu? How old is his first daughter? What was his pedigree in America before returning?
As for Osibanjo, though he sounds smart, has the academic records and exposures, I still doubt his ability to be his own man if elected. We don't need a puppet. Nigeria deserves better.
Something is telling me that this whole Tinubu and Osibanjo noise is just a distraction to pave way for either of both. I don't think Nigeria needs both men. Tinubu enthroned the mistake of a government we are struggling with, and Osibanjo is part and parcel of the same government. We deserve better as a Nation,we have suffered much. Thanks

I am disappointed by this post

You cant compare Tinubu with Osinbajo. If Osinbajo has something special upstair, it could have been implemented to make a difference in the administration.

Politics / TINUBU VS Osinbajo: The Factual Comparism by Freegift75: 3:42pm On Jan 19, 2022
A political analyst was with insinuation on live programme that Prof. Yemi Osinbajo can not be compared with Asiwaju Tinubu if given chance to rule Nigeria.

He was of the optimistic opinion that Prof. Osinbajo is an international lawyer with high repute and he would be more intelligent that Asiwaju Tinubu to rule Nigeria.

But the truth remains that, should there be said that an accountant sent from Deloitte, the US to set up an accounting system for National Oil & Aramco in Saudi Arabia is not intellectually sound?

Can Osinbajo stand Tinubu in Finance?
Can he stand him in Accounting?
Can he stand him in Management?
What about Strategic planning?
Can he match up to him in political dogmatism?
Can he match up to Tinubu in understanding economic problems and solutions?
Can he come close to Tinubu in strategic planning?

Tinubu and Osinbajo are two different specialists of different fields but a brainy specialist in economic management will be more effective than a guru in law ro rule Nigeria.

What is your own opinion?
let discuss this intelligently and void of any abuse and desecration
