There are two difference between your proof and his. He provided document straight from the USA government public court documents while you gave us legal metrics. He even gave a detailed break down how he received the acquired information for anyone interested to check it him/herself. You should have probably clicked on the link OP gave before accusing him of lying. Anyway, Who do you think we will believe? USA government sponsored website or legalmetrics?

Whoa... Easy dude. I never accused anyone of lying. I only did my research and asked for further proof as what I'd seen from him was not satisfactory. 1. Legalmetrics is a VALID source for chronicles of court activities. They have been at it for years and have provided succour for lawyers, parties and the likes. Thier integrity has never been in doubt. (Doubt it ever will at the rate they are going on)

2. Have you tried accessing details he made available on PACER via the so called tutorial? How long does it take to have access? What are other requirements? If you have been there, then you'll know what I'm taking about.

3. Nothing ties that document pasted to PACER. Not even a watermark. Ojuyobo is not a National Security matter to the US, thus detailed documents of his conviction or otherwise would be somewhere. Bring that up, then I can begin to take him serious.

Cheers, mate.

Dude, I heard that's how contractors in Dubai work, almost a 24 hour work cycle.
If we had that though, won't the job become more expensive? Dunno!

True that, but then they finish faster. Man-hour costs may increase a little because of those working odd hours, but of course there is more time available to plan an implement other projects.

Dubai don't joke with their constructions o. They give stiff timelines for completion and woe betide that Contractor that does not deliver according to expectation. Dang. Those guys mean business. A new wing of the Airport was completed in 6 months.

Actually on the Lagos-Sagamu axis, maybe 4 kilos on one side, about 2 kilos of cleared bush on the other side.

Ibadan to Sagamu will be roughly about 4-5 kilos too, median excavation that is (I'll check with my odometer on Saturday).

Work is waaaay too slow for a 21st Century road project. At times there is no one on ground doing anything. I recall that the excavation of the stretch in Ibadan -Sagamu axis was done in one day... A Sunday. I'd expect the momentum be sustained. I doubt anything has been done in the last one month.

Again, I say that road ought to have at the minimum 3 8-Hour shifts... At this pace, it is almost impossible to determine when it will be finished.

Mzsolex: like play like play it will extend the full lenght. Learn 2 aprc8t wat u have... that section wasn't like that 2years ago, it won't be like that by 2015.

I hope to God you are right. Mind you, nothing but a few pot-holes were patched on the road itself. All that excavation is being done in the middle of the road where there is no tarmac/asphalt. Maybe it is the way I'd work but I would have expected work to go on on that road at least 3 shifts daily, i.e. 24 hours.

Funny thing is the barriers have taken almost an entire lane reducing our 2 lane access to one. A truck broke down there once... You should have an idea of what happened next especially as RCC workers and equipment were nowhere to be found

Politics / Govt May Concession Lagos-ibadan Expressway Road As Lack Of Funds Delay Work by freezy(m): 10:28am On Jan 07, 2014
Investigations has revealed that work is being delayed on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to lack of fund. A source who revealed to a reporter, stated that there is high posibility that the federal government might hand over the road to a concessionaire.

The Nation reports that motorists will continue to face hardship on the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway – no thanks to a cash crunch that is threatening the Federal Government’s plan to rebuild the road.

The Federal Government is considering a fresh concession to investors to make the N167billion project a reality.

In the proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the government will collaborate with investors, the Infrastructure Bank, Julius Berger Plc and Reynolds Construction Company Limited(RCC).

About N23million has been voted in the 2014 Budget for the hiring of consultants on the PPP scheme.

The government has also allocated N5billion to the rehabilitation of the Lagos-Sagamu-Ibadan dual carriageway (Section 1) to make for the challenge it is facing on the reconstruction of the expressway.

The recourse to concession is being kept under wraps by the government in what a source described as a back-door approach.

The Federal Government, in November 2012, terminated the 25-year concession given to Dr. Wale Babalakin’s Bi-Courtney Limited for the construction and maintenance of the 105-kilometre Expressway.

The expressway was concessioned to Bi-Courtney in 2009 at N89.53 billion for 25 years.

Minister of Works Mike Onolememen said the agreement was revoked due to Bi-Courtney’s failure to adhere to its terms.

In June last year, the Federal Government re-awarded the reconstruction of the expressway to Julius Berger Plc and RCC.

Last July, President Goodluck Jonathan launched the reconstruction at N167billion with a completion timeline of 48 months.

But barely six months after the launch, the project has run into a hitch.

Neither the Federal Government nor the construction firms can source funds to execute the project.

A source, who spoke with our correspondent, said: “The government has no money to implement the project.

“There are so many competing demands for the government. And the construction firms, who has been re-awarded the project, cannot finance it without necessary legal backing granting the concession to them.

“The firms are also unprepared to take the risk to bear the cost without partnership or understanding with the government on how to recoup their investment.

“When the government re-awarded the contract to the two construction giants, it gave the impression that it would finance it wholesale.

“Even if the government now concedes the project to Julius Berger Plc and RCC, it would amount to a violation of the PPP law because there are laid down procedures.

“For instance, the project ought to be advertised for competitive bidding by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

“So, the PPP for Lagos-Ibadan Expressway would have become legally flawed from the beginning.

“You can see that what the government should do first is what it is now doing. I think politics crept into the project and the government could not do its homework properly.”

the national assembly gets N150 billion from our yearly budget, it's unfair to blame them for recurrent expenditure.

They ratify the budget each year. That puts them directly in the path of blame for the high recurrent expenditure.

However, I did not blame them. I only wanted to know if their salaries and allowances will be restructured, because as it it, it is outrageous. Note that I also did not say restructuring their pay solves the problem, but it starts the process of solving it.

Thank you.

@Cramjones

Does the APC intend to do anything about the mind-boggling salaries & allowances (rumoured to be the highest in the world) of the Senators and Reps? Drastically reducing recurrent expenditure is one sure way to ensure funds are available for development and it must start at the centre.

Is the APC planning to restructure this? Especially with the fact that the current APC Senators and Reps seem to have no qualms with it at the moment.

Someone I know got married at the age of 30 some years back with less than a 100k a month.

Today, I am convinced his wife did not marry him for what he earned then. In her interactions with him, she must have seen that the young man was focused, knew what he was doing, knew what he wanted and she knew her job was to encourage him to achieve his dreams should she decide to accede to the marriage request.

Today, the dude pays a monthly income tax of about 85k each month. Income tax alone! You can guess how much the monthly take home is now. He is even setting up a state-of-the-art restaurant for his wife.

Focus on the person... His dreams, aspirations, attitude to work and school of thought. Smart ladies will determine who is a viable future partner with the blink of an eye.

Cheers mates.

Aigbofa:

People are buying local, my friend. And in most cases they even prefer local. But it isn't enough to feed 160 million people.
Can't the government be more imaginative than just slamming high tariffs on everything?
Can't they be more serious about boosting local production by making available to farmers everything they need?
Tariffs cannot be all and all. That is why the same policy on cars will fail.

True that. I love local. Folks around me do. And you need to see how the availability of the Ofada and Matse delicacy is picking up in Woolwich.
But the supply is never consistent. Folks above 40 prefer local because of the high fibre less sugar content. Its availability is always the issue. Flood the markets with local and watch importation of the foreign die.

We will not queue behind anyone who for any reason commits any crime because he is our kinsman or woman

I think he should step aside whilst investigations continue. Not because he is accepting he is wrong but to foster transparency. Here, significant allegations alone make folks resign. If you don't wanna resign, I think it is only fair to step aside when you are under investigation. Vindication or otherwise determines your return to the seat.

The case of DSK comes to mind quickly. Even though the courts found him not guilty a la dismissed charges, he stepped aside for Lagarde due to the weight of the allegations.

My thoughts though.
