Atouke:

On the contrary your understanding of the issue is lean. Personal, ethnic or political views are different from legal position.

It's the court that decides the legal position on matters of this nature not individuals views.
You and mr malami can head to court on Amotekun.
Can you show us the constitutional review that the NW senators secured before hisbah police and civilan JTF were operationnalize in the NW and NE.
Is hisbah not operating though out the NW, is hisbah not a regional policing agency?

Hisbah is not a regional force. It's independent of each state. There names are different (Kano state Hisbah board, Jigawa State Hisbah etc). Also a Hisbah vigilante from Kano have zero powers in Jigawa state.

Each southwest state can establish it own Amotekun through their respective house of assemblies, but not as a regional Amotekun
Politics / Regional Security Is Illegal: How Amotekun Should Operate by FriendNG: 1:55am On Jan 20, 2020
1. Every state in Nigeria is independent and there is nothing like regional force. Therefore each southwest state assembly should pass a bill establishing the security watch vigilante group.

2. Each state Amotekun must have a unique registered name (example: Lagos State Amotekun Security Watch, Oyo State Amotekun Security Watch etc).

3. Each state "Amotekun" should have it own individual leader. (Although leaders from different states can have a forum just like Governors forum to exchange ideas)

4. Amotekun members of a particular state cannot work outside the state upon which they are recruited. Example: An Amotekun member of Ekiti state cannot make an arrest or any other security function in Ondo state.

In summary Amotekun cannot be a regional force but state force, unless the constitution is amended for regionalization. In such a case the Southwest House of Representatives will establish it own regional security.

Crime / Professor Solomon Musa Tarfa Arrested By Kano Police Over Baby Factory by FriendNG: 2:24am On Jan 19, 2020
Police in Kano have paraded one Professor Solomon Musa Tarfa who was arrested in December last year for allegedly running an orphanage home, ‘Du Mercy Children Development Ministry’ without approval of the government.

The orphanage which has been operating for over two decades was raided on December 25th last year and nineteen inmates of both sexes and various ages rescued.

Speaking to the press yesterday, the spokesman, Kano Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa alleged that Professor Tarfa connived with one medical doctor, Chidi Christopher who runs a maternity clinic at Nomansland area of Kano to steal the new born babies from their parents after birth.

He claimed that Dr Nwoye, who is currently at large, aided and facilitated procuring pregnant women to whom he gives necessary ante-natal medical care and after giving birth hands over the babies to the orphanage home.

The police also accused professor Tarfa’s wife Mercy Tarfa for aiding in sourcing the children through other illegal means.

The police spokesman explained that, “in our sustained effort to recover more missing children, the command on 25 December, 2019, got credible information that one professor Solomon Musa Tarfa of No. 15 Iroko Avenue, Nomansland Kano operates a private orphanage home named Du Mercy Children Development Ministry without government approval.

“He used the orphanage home to house children of both sexes reasonably believed to be illegally obtained”

He said based on the information, the command’s team of operation puff-adder was detailed for intelligence led operation where the said professor was arrested and nineteen children rescued from the orphanage.

Kiyawa further claimed that the command discovered an annexed orphanage linked to Professor Tarfa at Kaduna from where eight more children were rescued.

Reacting to the allegations while being paraded by the police, Professor Tarfa said his orphanage has been duly registered with Corporate Affairs Commission, describing his arrest and subsequent detention in police custody for over three weeks as a conspiracy orchestrated to tarnish his reputation.

He however refused to disclose the means through which the children are being sourced for the orphanage, saying only his lawyer could answer any question having to do with sourcing of the inmates.

Politics / Nigeria, 5 Other West African Countries Condemn Renaming Of CFA Franc To ECO by FriendNG: 12:24am On Jan 17, 2020

The condemnation was issued at the end of a West African Monetary Zone meeting of ministers of finance and governors of central banks on Thursday in Abuja.

Nigeria and five other English-speaking West African countries have condemned the decision of their French-speaking neighbours to rename the CFA Franc as ECO.

The condemnation was issued at the end of a West African Monetary Zone meeting of ministers of finance and governors of central banks on Thursday in Abuja.

The countries that participated in the meeting are Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

The statement reads, “WAMZ Convergence Council wishes to emphasise that this action is inconsistent with the decision of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS for the adoption of the ECO as the name of an independent ECOWAS single currency

“WAMZ Convergence Council wishes to reiterate the need for all ECOWAS member countries to implement the decision of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government towards the implementation of the revised roadmap of the ECOWAS single currency programme.

“WAMZ Convergence Council would be recommending an extraordinary summit of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of the WAMZ member states will be convened soon to discuss this matter and other related issues."

Lol they're threating them. I guess the police are ready to cage the cats. This might get interesting soon especially since Amotekun is unarmed.

I don't think so. As far as they operate within the law nothing will happen. The police will be happy to work with them except in the case they begin to act above the law.

The police enjoyed working with Hisbah. Infact even Christians go to Hisbah for dispute reconcilation.

There will only be problem if they (Amotekun) develop wings.

Bro let’s be real, some northerners are jittery about this and I don’t know their fears. I watch the Miyetti Allah SW chairman speak on channels TV about the fact that they are not consulted or drafted into the meeting before forming Amotekun.

Are the Yorubas living in Kano consulted before forming Hisbah? Are the southerners in Borno consulted before forming the civilian JTF? Why do we need to consult the Miyetti Allah especially those that have wreak some havoc on our farms and killed our people?

By also feeling the social media pulse, a lot of Northerners are speaking against this Amotekun and I can’t but wonder what their main problem is.

IBB came out to speak against it, Malami came out to speak against it, I’m pretty sure that soon the northern leaders will start coming to speak against it too.

But they should know the SW is the balance and if they push their luck too much it might be detrimental to this nation.

Like I said some cannot be the majority and cannot be speaking for the entire region. The only northerner that speak from the position of authority is Malami and he is speaking as AG not as a northerner.

Miyatti Allah may be worried about there cows being attacked (fear of unknown). I don't know their reasons but I am just saying.

For IBB he is not against it. He is rather advising on how to go about it especially on funding.

Until northern governors or state house of assemblies speak against it I rest my case. They are those concern with it & not social media commentators or group.

How's it done in hisbah?

Hisbah are not police. So what are you asking? What Hisbah does is arrest, advise and release first time offenders (light crime), then handover repeated offenders and those with criminal offenses to police.

Amotekun is also the same thing. They only have the power to arrest and not to prosecute.

They will arrest and hand over criminals to the police. They can be a source of intelligence to the police also when they can’t engage criminals with powerful weapon.

I don’t see why the North seems to be jittery about this. Either way, Amotekun is here to stay and I don’t think the FG have much choice in this except they want to heat up the polity.

Who is this imaginary north you're talking about. Majority don't even care about what's going on in the southwest. I see no how some individuals will speak or group and you tag it North. Who are the representative of the North? The answer here is Governors. The last time I checked they call it a welcome development, and are ready to replicate same in the northwest region.

Its time to amend the constitution. That's will settle the issue since ststes seem to want decentralized policing.

But will they build their own prison service or they will be paying the federal government to use some of it facilities such as Prisons?

The question is how should the Constitution be amended.
Politics / Re: Operation Amotekun: Militiamen Won’t Bear Arms by FriendNG: 2:11am On Jan 16, 2020
This is simple.

No one will stop the establishment of the new vigilante group. But once they exceed the limit of the constitution (like start to bear arms), the federal government will respond.

What about hisbah police in most of the northern states, are they not govern by the laws of Nigeria also? This man should stop saying rubbish!

Hisbah are not police. The press often add the police to it. They are more or less a local licensed vigilante group. They are answerable to the police.

And I believe that Amotekun should also work hand in hand with the police.
