Hmm how to explain this.. There is a click when you can talk for hours without feeling bored or irritated. When you have similar likes and dislikes and the butterflies never go away cheesy
I see.
And you can bet long-term (30yrs n above of marital) happiness on this singular initial click? Interesting.

And these eternal-living butterflies you speak of. I'm sure u're the expert, but I find that highly improbable. I mean, do these butterflies hang around for more than 3-12months?

I only ask because I've never met anyone who has given me butterflies for more than a couple of months, 2-3.
And the duration of fluid gist for me depends on my mood at the time of discussion.
So how does one determine future happiness based on these initial signs?

Well I could be wrong. maybe I should open a thread asking the married ones how long their butterflies hung around and how accurately that initial "click" predicted long term compatibility.

I generally do not trust emotions/feelings. But I hope to find someone soon who'll make me a believer.

I'm not sure about that. I have seen a lot of responsible men but responsibility alone can not hold a marriage. There has to be a genuine click and that's the hardest part.

I believe most of you will understand what I mean

Its really saddening when you see ladies over the age of 30 still single. I don't feel its about character as I have seen many ladies with terrible characters get married.

Most these ladies are accomplished. Even with the programmes for singles in churches, stilll no show. The muslims also have programmes where they assist singles in getting married, still no show.

Please, don't state that they want rich men as we all know what is going on now,our women are practically becoming bread winners. Some earn higher than their husbands

These single ladies don't mind getting married to men who are of a lower earning capacity.

What is then the problem?!?
@ bolded: was this also true when they were in their early-mid 20s?
you sound quite certain about this, how come? Can u categorically speak for all spinster when u aren't even one urself.

There's no one particular reason why every spinster is still single. And to be frank, I'm sure most of them are fed up with topics like this (heck, even I am fed up)

This situation will only get worse in the future. And I say so because of 2 reasons:

1. The economic trend of the country: only few men will think marriage when he feels he cannot handle the responsibilities (mostly financial) that come with it.

2. Modern-day Indoctrination of the female youth:
Internet and television subtly pushes into our heads "ideals" that are destructive. And one of them is that false image of what an "ideal man" is. A lot of our teenagers consume these mentally damaging messages like crack. (and let's face it, women are much More impressionable than men). So while in their late teens and early 20's they treat distastefully the males which do not match the picture of the "ideal man" they were taught by the media and friends. And by the time they finally decide to "get serious" they realize that all that glitters is not gold, and that most of what fails to glitter are actually worth more than gold.

All in all, no amount of "front page topics" can change the country, our young men, or even the spinster themselves. My people have a saying that goes thus " the only real piece of advice is that which a person offers himself"
Christianity EtcRe: Question For Believers by frisby: 10:56am On Mar 12, 2015
People.
Everyone has the freedom to believe whatever he wants.
Live ur life as you see fit.

None of us have been to the afterlife, and those who have are not exactly tweeting their experiences, get what I mean? They're busy being dead.

If u decide on a path, then for happiness' sake thread it to the end. And find out for urself if u made the right call or not ( whether u'll have the chance to regret ur actions/inactions is a separate matter entirely)

So what am I saying?
I find it absolutely childish to pick a path, and then come back to call the other man lazy/blind/deluded/brainless.

Being an unbeliever does not make you sophisticated or even smart. It simply means u are incapable of believing in anything else other than what you can see, feel, hear and touch. You choose to believe in "matter" as you know it.
So if some others choose to see past their noses, to believe outside of the scientifically convenient, then let them do the extra work.

The path they ve chosen dictates that they should share the message of unconditional love to everyone. So what they do, they do not do out of spite. They are obeying what is to them, a supreme command.

Our existence and purpose is a lot more complex than the human mind can comprehend, believer and non-believer alike.
And anyone who claims to know all the answers is only the bigger fool.

And as a correction to some of the believers who may come upon this thread.
Being a believer doesn't mean being stupid. Doesn't mean worshiping your pastors or priests, they are human. No human is superior to another. Your General Overseer isn't better than you are. So stop swallowing their words hook, line and sinker. You are called to believe just one thing : that jesus lives, that he is God, and that it is only by believing in his sacrifice that you are made clean. Ur fastings, vigils, speaking in tongues CANNOT save you. Not even ur so-called righteous acts.

Just love God and others and believe in jesus. that's all. Study ur bible and teach your pastors the truth.

As for your question @DOlemite: someone already answered you. It's God's supreme choice. It means they do not have their own reasons. God doesn't have to explain himself to anyone.

You seem smart.
If your enquiries are free of spite and resentment, and you can afford an open mind. Then you may learn the truth.

BusinessRe: 4 Ways To Identify "SCAMMERS" On Most Online Market Platform Like OLX Nigeria by frisby: 1:52pm On Feb 09, 2015
Hello guys,

I'm almost heartbroken at some of the things I'm reading here.
To be quite frank, anyone who gets scammed on OLX or any online marketplace for that matter is either greedy or desperate and must have himself to blame.

You have all spoken from a buyer point-of-view, now I'm speaking as a vendor.

I ran a phone business before and during the advent of OLX. Started with nairaland and included olx afterwards.

So I advertise items, say a bold 5 for 30,000 (used) and then I start getting calls and people will start asking to pay N15,000 and even telling me "you aren't serious to sell yet, there are many sellers advertising @ even N12,000. I only called you because you stay closer to my location" and. Things like that.

Other times I tell them not to worry that I'd bring the item to their home or office but that they'd have to pay an extra, say, N1k or N1,500 when I get there depending on their location, and they start to rain u with swear words, even explaining the Lagos map for you and trying to tell you that buses won't charge. Up to that amount.

Guys, if you all don't know yet, NIGERIANS are generally unpleasant when you are being honest with them, we prefer sweet lies, especially with our "miracle" and "manna" mentality. You are well aware that a particular item costs, say, $100 on amazon/ebay, exchnge rate is N200 and someone is selling that item N22,000 on olx and you call them greedy and instead run to a miraculously cheap N12,000 price tag. Who's greedy? And we will come here to cry foul and condemn online marketplaces.

Someone mentioned amazon. So u believe there aren't thieves on amazon? Laughable.
And how wise is it that u can trust a white man to send u an item from a continent away without inspecting what you get whereas you can't be smart enough to agree to pay an extra 1k to a "countryman" after he brings u his own wares?

Shopping on OLX is simple!...either:
A) ask to meet in a public place or agree to pay for "shipping" nd have him bring you the item for inspection.

Or

B) NEVER PAY A DIME before personal inspection.

And

C) I advice (from personal experience) that you always use insist on pay-on-delivery. Don't go visiting anyone's "shop" except you've bought from them before.

Some of these bird-brained scammers get angry that you are trying to outsmart them and after they have asked where you stay. They tell u some crazy location as their office/shop, in a bid to punish you for being smart.... most time u just get there and get stranded. No shop, no one answers ur calls anymore etc.

As a final note,
I want to appeal to fellow Nigerians to jettison the miracle/manna/messiah mindset. This mindset is the reason buyers fall prey to scammers, ladies fall victim to wicked and selfish guys, people make fools of themselves before acclaimed men-of-God, and Nigerians remain slaves under wicked leaders.

We love lies. We almost look foward to be promised heaven on earth. And. Our sense of reasoning takes the backseat the moment we hear sweet (obviously unrealistic) promises.

wake up nigeria! Nothing good comes cheap, easy or even fast. Good things takes hard work, and nothing in life is free.

Tnx for your time and apologies for the long epistle

If you fished in the right seas, you'd realize that there are still loads of ladies in this same country who will make you see the femalefolk in a very different light.

The rotten ones just happen to be the "loud" ones and those dating these stupid few are the only ones coming to these places to cry blue murder.
There are men who consider their ladies gems. Such people have no reason to come and make noise about it. It's the dissatisfied ones that come here to make it seem that "men r dis" and "women r dat"

So keep ur chin up.

All still bounds back to "moderation" and those who adopt this principle of moderation get married easily while those with high profile for the kind of man they want keep catching flowers in every wedding of their friends and colleagues. I can authoritatively tell you that most girls in Nigeria today want nothing than a rich guy. For example, i am an undergraduate, though my parent are not super rich, but then we dont beg to eat. I leave home to school everyday with public transport, i tell you simply because i am not mobile (as most Nigerian girls equate a dude with ride to be rich), most girls i approach on road dont normally respond accordingly even when i dress to kill, but each time dad travels and i become the one in charge of his car (Just Honda City Salon Car), 8 out of every 10 girl i approach yield for me with ease. This however shows what they want...a rich dude.
LWKM! Since when did our girls become this empty-headed?
No wait! They aren't empty headed, at least they know ipads and kimberley kardashian grin

But I'm sure it's just a category of ladies. I've met smart young NIGERIA ladies, who know that a person's worth (theirs included) cannot be measured in something as trivial as what car you're driving.
Just like a child telling u "u're my friend" just because you carry a shiny box of cookies.
Infact I do not believe you sir...our girls simply aren't that empty headed grin

Onyiridike:
And the best way to do that is to become a liability?

My sister, I don't advise any woman to keep waiting for an already-made man like an opportunist. Some of them already know that you love them for their money. Consequently, they will use you and dumb you

Some of us saw the potentials in our man when they had nothing and accepted them. We patiently propelled them to become the man we desired. Today, he can't say my house but our house, he can't say my car but our car. The mutual respect is adorable. To him, I am next to God.

Do you think that the saying "behind every successful man, there is a woman" is a joke

The society puts so much pressure on men.

How many girls can love an unemployed graduate wholeheartedly and remain supportive until things get better?

Every working class man in flashy cars who is reasonable will always want to settle down with a woman who was there for him when he had nothing
WoW!....
Wow!
Either this is a man posing as a female.. OR
This lady...wow.
This is a truth that hardly any under-30 female can grasp no matter how they tried. Their brains aren't just wired to understand that men aren't as foolish as they appear. A man may play a fool just because all he wants with u is a fling. But when a man thinks marriage, he KNOWS he doesn't want to be stuck for life with a decorative piece of liability. Except of course you're considering men with hardly any resolve who take marriage lightly and don't value vows. Such men can marry u, but that's because they know they too have little or nothing to offer in d way of real commitment. That's why u hear of a thousand-n-one divorces in a month. And u hear of men who still sleep around as they used to do before marriage.

I tell people one thing WE ALWAYS GET THE SPOUSE WE DESERVE , men and women alike.
RomanceRe: Single Ladies: Do These Things, If You Really Want To Get Married by frisby: 6:08pm On Dec 18, 2014
Enough of these rules already.
There's a man for every type of woman.

In physics, unlike poles attract.
But in human relationships, like poles are drawn together just like birds of a feather.

So however a lady lives her life, she must attract a certain category of men, whether they be good or bad category of men, at least she's showing her real color.

Psychology has it that a person's character is already set by 6 yrs of age. Values n priorities by the teen age. So what exactly are u asking a girl in her mid 20s to do, change overnight or pretend To be a different person.
Pls o, let everyone dress the way they ARE and show their true colors, so that it'll be easy for serious minded men to pick the type of lady that suits their taste.

It would be a disaster if every girl suddenly starts playing by these rules, adding more fake attitude to their already fake lives.
Isn't that deceitful advertising?
U want to create a nation of wolves in sheep's clothing?

Pls, when I meet a girl, I want to meet her as she is naturally configured. I want to be able to tell wolves from sheep.
If I'm a wolf man, I want to see fangs n claws, and not fake hooves and fleece.

So...
ENOUGH RULES!
LEAVE OUR GIRLS THE WAY THEY ARE!
