ComputersRe: Nigerians Are Underutilizing Their Tablets by frisby: 4:32pm On Dec 18, 2014
I'd recommend people just get a 5incher n a lightweight laptop.
I fail to see the essence of. Traditional tablets, especially in a country where internet is more expensive that gasoline.

Sometimes it's pretty hard to take people seriously who own 5inchers and still just lug around an 8-10" tablet WITHOUT internet because they think it's fashionable.

Aa tablet maay be ideal for those who do not fancy carrying about a 5" phone as a primary device but still want to enjoy ebooks, webpages and multimedia content on a comfortable screen.
Such people may be seen using a q5-note10 combo.

Its hard cause beautiful ladies have high expectations. They dont want to be beautiful and have a manageable guy. They want handsome, rich, hot, muscular, sexy, smart, funny guys. And they wont settle for less. They should better wake up and smell the coffee cause they cant find a man like that.
Not true. Such men abound.
But real men are scarce. All those things u mentioned don't make a real man and therein lies d problem.
Women have been misguidedly taught that those are the things to look out for in a man.. so they waste their prime dissing real men because they only have their eyes for what the movies and mass media have told them are "the real deal". In d end, the same "real deal" waste their time, ruin their lives and dump their broken asses for the next shiny object.

you should not. Some beautiful ladies are lover babes, if the guys they were so much into bleeped them up, they could just decide to take some break before going into any relationship again. But men believe that a lady who looks good always will definitely have a man behind her smile which is not so in all cases. But the major problem is the numbers of olosho beautiful ladies increasing every day who are ready to use what they have to get whatever they want. Psychologically, it gives men negative orientation about beautiful ladies especially the ones that look classy.

The thread says "mr right" not "boyfriends".
Pretty girls rarely lack in the "boyfriend" department Because most guys won't mind just dating one just for d thrill of it. Nothing serious and no long term value whatsoever.

So your whole theory of "assertiveness ", how does it fit into the entire picture?

And..... do you consider yourself mr right for that girl?
Do you have serious long-term plans for her?
How much personal value have u added to her life?
Do her parents even know you?

"so what the bible never labelled sin shouldn't be called sin?" that means smoking is not sin. continue deceiving yourself and not me.
Smoking is an addiction and d bible condemns letting anything "master" (addiction here) our bodies which is God's temple. And that also includes any and every form of addiction...yes, including caffeine.

Does the bible say anything against casting of lots? Did u not see the part where I quoted a passage about Joshua casting lots to allot real estate to isralites...... and wasn't it by casting lots that the "sacrificial goats" were picked?

Any endeavor banking on probability for an outcome is a gamble. U and I do it regularly without even realizing it. Or is it only when it involves NAIRABET that it becomes sinful?

Anyway you have a point and I get it. But smoking is a different case and outside the scope of this thread.

RomanceRe: Female Friend Zone!! by frisby: 2:40pm On Dec 12, 2014
preshuzpearl:
Well, I have actually been friendzoned. Last week precisely. I just hope the guy isn't a member of this forum.

Thing is I've liked him for a really long time (100level or so) like 8 years ago but I never had the courage to tell him so we were just friends.
Last week I decided I was going to woman up and just say it. The worst I'll get is a 'No' and maybe some humiliation but I'd have freed my mind. So here's how our conversation went:

[13:31, 07/12/2014] me: Hi.

[13:37, 07/12/2014] him: Hi, how are you ?

[13:38, 07/12/2014] me: Am good
I have something to say to you.

[13:39, 07/12/2014] him: No qualms.

[13:40, 07/12/2014] me: I cant send it here. Give me your email address I'll attach it as a note to u.

[I attach a note describing all my mumble-jumble squashy smushy feelings and send to his email]

After a while.

[15:14, 07/12/2014] him: Your note is so sweet.

[15:14, 07/12/2014] me: Thanks.

[15:14, 07/12/2014] him: And I like you too
How on earth would you say I would hate you for sending that note.

[22:23, 07/12/2014] me: U understood what I wrote.

[22:24, 07/12/2014] him: Yeah I read what I could. Come on skype. If not we can talk here.

[22:25, 07/12/2014] me: Skype might be a little difficult.

[22:25, 07/12/2014] him: Okay no qualms.

[22:25, 07/12/2014 me: I dont know what to say really. I never wanted to say anything. ..cos u know, African mentality and all.
But I thought I shld go ahead anyway.

[22:28, 07/12/2014] him: I really don't think it's bad for you to say what's on your mind.
Especially for someone like me cause I understand how you feel.
Now back to it.
Like I said before I like you too. But the thing is that the extent may differ.
You're amazing as a person and as a friend.
Somehow I can get to sense when someone likes me.
And it's not a big deal.
I too have such feelings.
But sometimes this world is more than feelings.
Seriously.

[22:32, 07/12/2014] me: You r right.

[22:32, 07/12/2014] him: At some point while growing up there was a girl I felt same way for.
And I was simply too fascinated a about her.
But time passed.
She left.
Do I still feel same way for her today? Nooo.
But fact is that I can only get with one person.
That's the truth. I was attracted to you at some point, ***** at some point and even ***** at some point and really, I've not felt like taking it into a relationship level or something.
(***** are names of my close friends)

[22:40, 07/12/2014] me: hmmm I've been in and out of feelings a long tym with loads of people..yes.
Usually it doesn't take long. And I never think highly of it.
I just surprise for your own. Lol

[22:41, 07/12/2014] him: Ha ha ha ha.
[22:43, 07/12/2014] him: Maybe why it came back was because we later touched base.

[22:43, 07/12/2014] me: Oohh. Yeah maybe that's why.

[22:45, 07/12/2014] him: I've respected you as a friend.
And still respect you even up till now.
But I can't say anything about a relationship.
Cause it hadn't come to mind.
And that's sensitive.

[22:46, 07/12/2014] me: No its not. I wasn't thinking relationship. angry

[22:46, 07/12/2014] him: I really really don't want to break anybody's heart whatsoever.

[22:56, 07/12/2014] me: nah. It's just to free my mind. Finish.
[22:57, 07/12/2014] him: Cool.

Talk about friendzoning cry
Hmmmmm. Bold. Mature. Evolved. #respect# both u n him.
RomanceRe: My Girlfriend Is Not Caring And It Makes Difficult For Me To Know If She Luvz Me by frisby: 9:20am On Dec 12, 2014
Louis055 this goes for you too.

I do not think it's advisable seeking opinions from people who know neither you nor your ladies.
I suggest you pay more attention to your relationship, study your ladies more closely. Experiment. Throw random situations at her and see what makes her show (even the slightest hint) of care, note this, and build more experiments around the first successful one.

Every human being is unique. So no one here can say THIS is why or THAT is the reason.
It could be that she isn't into you. Could be interested in someone else.

Could be that she likes you but just doesn't find you exactly interesting.

Could be that she's just wired that way. Some people are more passive than others... and some, less expressive than others. (all wonderful in their own ways). Tell me, does she sound excited when you call? If she does and u think it's genuine, u may be worrying over nothing. You may be dating a true introvert.

And then, (this is something many ppl fail to realize), how old is she n how old are you? Truth is, some people do not fully awaken to the entire romance thingy until they are totally ready for it. True, they may jump aboard the dating bandwagon because it sounds trendy these days. But deep down, they are still....dunno exactly how to explain it, but I'm. Certain you get my point.

And then I don't think telling someone to "show more care" is a wise move. At least I know I've heard it a couple of times from a couple of ladies, and to be frank, it even made things worse, as ur subconscious automatically translates that to mean "I'm clingy and wanna smother you", even when ur head knows that may not be true. So instead of telling her what to do, keep SHOWING her how u'd rather have it and give her time, she may eventually pick up.

And finally, be sure u aren't expecting too much from her. Never build ur expectations around what you see in movies or what your friends tell you about their own relationships. Every girl is unique and love at their own pace.
RomanceRe: 5 Reasons Why You Should Have An Opposite Sex Bestie by frisby: 8:47am On Dec 12, 2014
I think the topic should read "5 reasons to have a male bestie"

I'm not saying this because I'm a guy.
But guys are better configured by nature for friendship. Doing it slow but steady. May not be all about excitement and getting matching Tshirts or shrieking @ the top of our voices or walking everywhere hand in hand, But about allowing ur bud a place in ur heart inspite of how we feel @ the moment.

People do not automatically change their attitudes simply because they're now friends with the opposite gender. An easily irritable person willl remain so, a proud person, same. An unforgiving person, same.

In MOST cases, (didn't say all) friendships btwn a lady n a guy work very well because the guy is naturally a great friend and is making a lot of compromises (not talking about gifts or anything here o) and same guy (if u check) will also be a great friend to other guys. It is who he is. He is naturally that way (I know some guys can be the exact opposite and pick on otherwise insignificant errors)

for example, I can go for 6 months without a single "quarrel" with my female buds. Heck! There's is this particular one, we've been friends since 2010 and we've only had a fight once. It was mild and lasted less than 30mins...after that it was as if nothing even happened.

Another one I've known since 2008 and the only thing we've had that's close to a fight was because I was i'll and kept it from her.
Ps: one of them is someone that's considered by immediate family to be of bad attitude. (makes u wonder if love isn't supposed to "cover a multitude of sins"....)

But does that mean there are no issues that could've wrecked the friendship a thousand times over? NO! But I just lack d energy to follow up on another person's errors, when there are so many positive things to focus on. I very easily brush aside some actions, words etc that I'm sure she would blow to high heavens if we swapped shoes.

I apologize if this sounded by any chance like I'm tooting my own horn. But I'm merely pointing out that what makes ANY relationship work isn't primarily sex, but the attitudes of the persons involved.. dude or dame.
We should learn to amplify the good aspects of our friends n overlook (the ones we can't correct) as much we can, the rotten sides.
No human is perfect, but if we all can learn to be a little less self centered, and make compromises for the sake of love, then we all CAN get along.

D problem comes with wanting/getting one just because everyone u know has one.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Betting A Sin? by frisby: 11:46pm On Dec 11, 2014
Gambling AKA betting is no sin.

What the bible hasn't called a sin shouldn't be labeled sinful by anyone just because they personally do not think it fitting for a christian.

" New International Version..
Joshua then cast lots for them in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD, and there he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their tribal divisions."

The bible although condemns greed and the love for money. That simply means that whatever venture you're involved in as a christian, u'd have to be very careful not to cross that thin line between looking for daily bread and obsessing over money and material things.

Having answered your question, do I support gambling? Not a chance in hot Africa!
Gambling is a waste of money! It is not gainful employment. You're offering no form of value to anyone, not even yourself!
and it is VERY easy to cultivate greed (which then becomes a sin)
and gambling should not be encouraged because it is simply a Scheme that robs the poor (albeit mostly the greedy ones looking for easy and quick wealth)

Gambling can easily make one make unreasonable choices as it always tries to exploit the greed in us.

I'd strongly advise anyone to stay away from gambling, even when it's just for leisure or recreation. It is a waste of money.
But is the act in itself sinful. Of course not
RomanceRe: Female Friend Zone!! by frisby: 6:53pm On Dec 11, 2014
Hmmm...

Depends on what an accurate definition of "friend zoning" means.

But if it means...Ok I just googled.

"friendzoned
When a member of the opposite sex (usually one you want to hook up with) declares you to be "just a friend", thereby ruining all potential chances of sex."

In that case a guy will only friendzone a girl when he fears that sex with her will bring about some kind of commitment he doesn't want with the girl. OR... he is simply repulsed by her.
Less guys friendzone girls because we like to keep the sex option open for when we might need it.. grin . Yes, even when we don't exactly care about the girl. Sad truth.

If sex were not an issue, 80% of girls would be chilling in the friendzone.

I don't know how helpful this will be, but I'll type all the same.
My dad once ran a pure water business about 10, 11 years ago and the requirements included a factory that stood alone, so he had to demarcate a portion of our compound and build the factory there. He erected a small bungalow of about three rooms, one for purification, packaging and storage, if I remember correctly.
After that, he invited them to see the premises, after which he got his registration number.
Oh that's really helpful!
It means I can erect a building on the compound where I live, and all I need to do is separate it with a fence and it qualifies as a stand-alone factory.

Thank a lot.

Good day good Nigerians,
I'm confident that, as usual, I will get helpful tips from well-meaning NL'ers.

So, I plan to go into small-scale food production. Yogurt to be precise. I've gone for trainings and what-have-you.
But the next step is what to do to be in right standing with NAFDAC.

I was mailed a list of requirements and it includes a factory, and there goes my difficulty.
Does it have to be a stand-alone factory?
What if I can't afford a piece of land now, can I rent an entire flat and use it for a factory?
Ok, and even if I can't use a flat, can I erect a small building on some space left on the compound where I and some other tenants live?

Please, if you've had any experience with NAFDAC and starting a food business I would really appreciate any piece of advice in this regard. This is my first time attempting this. Are there any acceptable work-arounds?
Are there better options that I'm not seeing yet?
What would you do in my shoes?
Please advise me. Thank you all and have a wonderful wednesday.

It's simple,
It is man-made.
Businesses these days are doing everything possible to sell their services n goods.
Social n mass media are doing everything to pass the msg of "spend-to-show-your-status" to everyone.
Young ppl are the most affected because older ones like us have known from own experiences that there's sooo much more to life than luxury and pleasure.

The younger minds are easily influenced.

semochendo1:
My dear, love is beyond physical qualities, the most important thing is you finding friendship/companionship in the person. I'm short, my wife used to tell me back then in the university days that she can never date a short guy, but the tall he dated was an empty barrel, no vision, no companionship. Now she's in my house with a very handsome son, living to thank God she wasn't caged in that puerile mentality.

I've lived to control lots of tall guys in my life, as a student leader and the young CEO that I am. From experience, ladies have allowed the tall guys to have an exaggerated picture of themselves because of the demand for them in the relationship market, and that's the more reason many tall guys take advantage of that, hence deliver far below expectation in relationships.

If you are a tall guy and It's sure for you, inbox me your girl friend or wife's phone number, I swear to God who made me, I will snatch her completely from you, may be then, you will know there are far other qualities ladies need from a man than just the height.

So, at Op, open your heart and follow your mind..

All the best.
Don't waste ur breath like I did brother. I only got to realize that almost everyone commenting here is a a teenager or in their early twenties.
They are still kids, and still aren't able to make sense of reality except what they see on TV and read in romance novels. Reality. Hits everyone in the face eventually.

And since when do women know what they want? Talk more of little girls huh
RomanceRe: Ladies How Does It Feel Dating A Shorter Guy? by frisby:
After realizing that you are all mostly teenagers, I'm editing my post to serve u a piece of priceless advice:

Until u begin to be truthful to yourself in life, you will remain unhappy.

Never do anything just because ur peers think "it's the cool thing to do"

Life is SOOOOO much bigger and tougher than what TV and social media make u believe.

If looks were what made a man or woman, shouldn't these beautiful ppl have the best marriages? Ever asked urself why ur parents have a better and happier marriage that most of these gorgeous looking celebrities? So see? It is NEVER about appearance.

Learn to learn from older people, observe the mistakes they've made in their youthful folly and avoid them.

And finally,
If u are a young lad who's probably still an undergraduate, you'd be of all men most miserable if u focused ur time n energy on pleasing those girls around u. They'll all get married in a few years to already made men, leaving you to knock the dust off ur shorts.

Life is a serious issue. Idiots have no place in it.
