“Now the difference between you and the dying PDP is that the people had never been given leadership; it had always been packaged and given to them. Nigerians have been accustomed to this for the past 16 years. So what is happening today is a departure from that culture and so it seems to us as if anything is amiss.” This guy sud ( john oyegon) better go back to sch n learn politics n stop telling nigerians how politics is been played with selfish interest. It is true that, when u dont know what to teach ur student, u will begin to teach out of point. Oyegon is simply doing that to his student. what exactly is d difference btw apc n the dying pdp in their manner of handling internal issues? John u need to shut up. |

Don't forget to tell them the 18.5ballion dollars that was incurred as debt during ur reign as military head of state oh.. In 1979 under General Olusegun Obasanjo Nigeria’s total debt stock was 3.2 billion dollars with over 5 billion dollars in foreign reserve. In 1985, under General Muhammadu Buhari Nigeria’s debt profile rose to 18.5 billion dollars and in 1995 under General Sanni Abacha, it rose to 34.1billion dollars. In 2002 under President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s debt rose to about 39.9 billion dollars due largely to interests, surcharges, and penalties. Who is fooling who? of cos buhari is fooling nigerians. |

ibrams:U need to man |
Today, we are faced with so much challenges which appear too difficult to solve by our leaders. Many as blamed the immediate past president, for leaving so much debt for the incoming govt to handle. Buhari in one of the occasion, said he met an empty treasury. While others, are of the view that, the economy under gej , is the waste ever. Hear the words of the former president OBJ broadcast to the nation when we were granted debt relief in June 2005. His speech clearly showed that, there were economic challenges during obj as we have it in GEJ tenure. Below is the broadcast by OBJ. President Obasanjo told Nigerians: “Fellow Nigerians, how did we get to the point where our debt burden became a challenge to peace, stability, growth and development? Without belabouring the point, we can identify political rascality, bad governance, abuse of office and power, criminal corruption, mismanagement and waste, misplaced priorities, fiscal indiscipline, weak control, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and a community that was openly tolerant of corruption and other underhand and extra-legal methods of primitive accumulation”. These all took place in this country, before our very eyes, and at times in active complicity by many of us. Even community leaders and religious bodies accommodated corrupt individuals and exalted them. Money replaced traditional values, money took over souls, and we came to believe in the Machiavellian philosophy of ‘the ends justify the means’. State governments contracted huge loans with outrageous conditions and interest rates and failed to perform with the funds, most of it being squandered on white elephant projects or simply looted. We often forget that stolen and wasted funds were monies meant for growth and development especially education, health, roads, water, electricity and other social services. Contracts became the only basis for determining transactions and engagements with the public and privates spheres. We pray to God that we get beyond these debilitations and develop a collective conscience that is anchored on transparency, accountability, probity, value-for-money and due process”. On July26 2005, President Obasanjo told the National Assembly that of the total debt stock at that time the Federal Government owed 75% and the states’ Government owed 25%. I want you all to weigh that statement in the present day Nigeria. Have those commitments been met? Now eight years after, are we celebrating any debt relief any longer? Is our Economy not in comatose? The situation of our economy has become so doubtful that nobody wants to talk about it. The ministry of finance is not forthcoming on the true position of our economy. So many contradictions! The safest conclusion is that our economy is in bad shape. Most states are financially grounded now unable to meet their obligations. Our roads are bad, our hospitals are in decay, the structures in our public schools have become so shameful, and there is massive unemployment. At present we face the agony of blasted hopes and shattered dreams. Do we even remember that there was a debt relief? It is now clear that we have been taken for a ride. It is very clear from the speech above that he (obj) in one way the order want some better life for Nigerians, but tye NASS members n politician wouldnt allow it to happen. This the same scenario played out during gej tenure. In fact his was the waste with so much political blackmail to get back to d top. source http:// www.icirnigeria.org/the-broken-promises-on-debt-relief/ |
obontami:Learn how to do research, before coming to the public to write whatever pleases ur small thinking mind. Most of u will come to to write becos others are posting nl. Is it only gej that as incurred external debt as the president of this country? Even when it is clear that he inherited most of the debt from previous govt but hypocrite like u wont agree. Below is debt incurred by previous president before gej. enjoy going through them for ur lack of research. In 1970, under General Yakubu Gowon Nigeria’s debt profile was 570 million dollars. The debt relief granted to Nigeria in 2005 was negotiated by the Economic Management Team led by Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala who was then Minister of Finance. She is still serving in that ministry in spite of our dwindling fortunes. One of the conditions for granting us debt relief at that time was the understanding that the additional 1 billion dollars will be put into human welfare budget of health, education, food security and infrastructure development. Upon assumption of office in 1999, President Olusegun Obasanjo established the debt Management Office and named Mr. Akin Arikawe as the Director- General of that office. Mr. Arikawe who is from Igbotako in Ondo State later rose to become the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance before his retirement. It was the Debt Management Office that pioneered the success of debt relief for Nigeria in 2005. With the relief, Nigeria cleared its arrears of $6 billion of the $30 billion owed following which there was stock reduction on the Naples terms while Nigeria was to buy back the remainder. It was the first time Nigeria ever had total freedom from the Paris Club debt. The package in final terms yielded debt relief of about 60 % of Nigeria’s Paris club debt while Nigeria had to pay off the 40% balance through a buy back operation. The total right off at that time was close to $20 billion which compare favourably with the $40 billion right-off of debt for the 18 highly indebted poor nations of the world by the developed nations. President Obasanjo had to broadcast to the nation on June 30,2015 that the achievement was worth celebrating because what Nigeria expected at the close of the exercise would be relief of close to $20 billion which was well beyond the total revenue of Nigeria for one year. pls from the above little research, did Obasanjo cleared all nigeria external debt? obviously, the answer is No. |
Compare both of then how they will be fuccking their wives oh. mumu apc goat. nothing as been done only pix evry second n some fools are busy making noise n showing puppet pix. Am sure buhari can fuvck better than gej na. |

What Legislators Don’t Earn NIGERIANS have invested so much effort in discussing what legislators earn that the bigger question about what they do is rarely considered. This is not a debate on return on investment – if resources deployed to legislators could be so addressed – but an inquiry into what all arms of government do. Our grudges with legislators are mostly personal. We know them. We probably voted for them, possibly rigged for them. They promised qualitative representation, also known as “delivery of the dividends of democracy”. They said they were the best hands for the job of making laws for the common good. What is common good without tackling the bread and butter issues? Before our eyes they prospered beyond our imagination, beyond reason and ironically against the preachments that things were tough, such that governments could not pay salaries to ordinary workers. Even in States with crumbled economies, the legislators got their pay. They would only be waiting for entitlements that could have been delayed. There are lots of reasons to be angry about the jumbo pay that we hear legislators earn, but anger would not solve the problem, nor the additional mischief of demonising legislators by spewing salacious stories about money they do not earn, like the fabulous figures mentioned as wardrobe allowances. A lot of advocacy is required to engage legislators on their earning which was established during the prudent presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. It is equally important that we sustain a more wholesome approach to costs of running our governments. Is it not also necessary to know how much we spend on the executive? Again, what do people in government do for the much they earn? Are the waste we are against only in the legislature? Could we look deeper into other areas of mostly illegitimate earnings for the legislators and the executives? Illegal earnings are part of the corruption in the system. The noticeable parts include enormously bloated government pay rolls across the country, and a corrupt system that ensures that once some names are triumphantly announced as ghosts and expunged, more names are added to the lists, to join those who were never discovered. Entrenched interests count for more than the interest of the people. As we fight over figures, there is still uncertainty about what our “servants” earn while those they serve earn nothing in an economy that has shrunk to the point of almost choking many Nigerians. The fight to retrieve our country from self-serving interests should be deeper than fighting over figures. Nigerians are in for more fights than removing one government for another. There are too many interests contending for Nigeria’s retracting resources. When they hype salaries of legislators, they draw attention to one section, while shielding sectors that they loot. http/:www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/what Legislators don't earn. |
