the reason the other guy was kicked out was because of pleasing. your friend wants to please the owners that he knows his work. he is newly hired. to do that he wan act professional. he wants to show them that he will not tolerate lateness to work, and he wants everyone to look professional.
he will discipline you or even drive you out of the company if you violate the policy. no be your company! if e no do am, na him go get sack!

the LESSON here is: you should leave the low-paying guy alone for him old job. don't stir the crocodile water

That's not really the case here. The guy worked for years and didn't get promoted, but then he thought of helping his friend, and his friend ended up achieving when he couldn't achieve while having the same qualifications.

Of course he has reasons to feel he was treated unfairly.

My father died not tired.. he has no obligation to care for me even if my father died, however he stepped up and took a responsibility that was never his in the first place and spoilt me and my siblings to the best education, vacations and most of all fatherly love. I owe him a lot that I could never repay.

In all honesty I was a spoilt daddy's brat but I have evolved to a spoilt husband's brat....yea my husband has spoilt me even more. I am lucky and all women deserve good father, good brothers, good husbands.... Good men make this world a better place. God bless all good men.

My man, some of us have also been through similar experiences probably not exactly the same and we coped well. Why? Only because God's time is best, He knows when to lift one up and bring the other low despite putting in one's best. Your turn shall come provided you remain diligent and focused on the right things. This might help you.
A few years ago 2 of my colleagues and I were on the same rank but I was their senior by virtue of entry point and promotion. We went for the next promotion interview together and they scaled through while I didn't. One of them asked that I should be preparing memos for him which I politely declined while I was instructed to be reporting to the other one. The powers that be expected me to react negatively or leave for some other schedule but I did neither. I chose to eat humble pie and so I can advise you and others facing such indignities today with candor. Do not get yourself pushed out of a job because of the way you feel. Think man!
