they shouldn't have allowed you into the hall for the exam. the rules are always there. no phones 7victor: It is like what happened to me when I was doing MSc.
I put my phone on a wall close to where I was writing the first semester exams.
One external supervisor came and asked who got the phone.
I foolishly said it was my phone.
He then turned the back of my exams card and showed me where it was written that students should not so much as come into exams hall with phone.
All my 5 courses of the first semester were cancelled and I was asked to write them again.
That automatically meant my set passed me and I had to write the courses with a new set of students who would be admitted the next year.
It was one of the worst things to happen to me academically.
I wrote the courses the next year and scored "A"s in all the courses.
The previous ones I wrote,I didn't score as good as these last ones.
But guess what: After my external examination, when I was about to collect my statement of result,I discovered the school was using the scores for the exams they cancelled, and not the second scores which were the authentic ones and which would have made me have a first class.
The scores for the exams they cancelled are the ones that are used in my MSc transcript.
Just because they don't want me to have a first class in my MSc |

let them go. the only solution for government to increase tuition fees to study medicine that will teach these greed doctors with god complexes a lesson eyinjuege: Because they have the right to go on strike and withdraw their services. They are not slaves and are human like everyone else, and you cannot force them to do a job they don't want to do. It has been proven time and time again, that the only language the Nigerian government understands is industrial actions like strike. This is a fact, regardless of the party or government in power. Drs abroad can also withdraw their services if they want to, and have had such talks about doing that in the past. But their governments are reasonable and it hasn't always been about the pay for them. Their pay isn't so great either but they are paid living wages, meaning you can still afford to live relatively OK on what you're paid. They're not used and abused by their government, as Drs are in Nigeria. They're not expected to cater to hundreds of patients as they are in Nigeria Drs abroad have the opportunity for further training, without nepotism in their selection process for juicy training posts. Those are part of the reasons they go on these strikes. The working conditions are not even favourable for the training, nothing to work with. In Nigeria, you should know someone before you can even be offered a training post to specialise. There is a list from the Oba, list from the governor, list from one senator, list from one board director etc before it can even reach you that knows no body and passed the exam cut off. Why would you want to stay back in such a place where you can never progress and be on the same spot forever? You're treated like a human being abroad. Do you think the countries hustling to poach Drs from other parts of the world don't know what they're doing? They would have preferred Drs trained in their own countries but their own indigenes are not interested in wasting time studying for so long in the university, owing student debt and coming out and paid just basic pay either. They are able to earn more without their university degrees by just starting their own business or even doing hand jobs like being a builder, mechanic, plumber so their indigenes start learning all these trades as soon as they finish secondary school. Didn't Ngige tell the whole world that Nigeria has more than enough Drs? So why the moaning now ? |

hahahaha Lama70: With all the testimonies from our doctors in the diaspora, any medical doctor that refuse to try his luck outside the shores of Nigeria is probably working with a fake certificate. Federal government didn't send anybody to school. All of you should move, please. We will make do with self medication and herbs till we are able to relocate too. There is nothing to fight for in this country again. Let us abandon the country for the thieving leaders. |
Health › Re: Nigerian Doctors: We Shed Tears Of Joy After Receiving First Pay In Saudi Arabia by frog12: 3:10pm On Aug 29, 2021 |
good answer. this policy must have changed. but can you answer this? why do doctors go on strike and tell relatives to come pick their sick wards? it's unprofession and against medical ethics to endanger patients eyinjuege: Drs do not have access to medicines in government hospitals. The matrons do, and bring out as they see fit once they are supplied by the pharmacy. Nurses give the medicines, hence are in charge of them. The Dr usually just writes what they want the patient to be given, and the beautiful nurses get the medicines into the patients. Any other misconceptions you need to be answered? |
Health › Re: Nigerian Doctors: We Shed Tears Of Joy After Receiving First Pay In Saudi Arabia by frog12: 2:40pm On Aug 29, 2021 |
can you stop the government run doctors from stealing hospital medicines? eyinjuege: Drs are allowed to practice privately while still working with government run hospitals. Abroad in the UK, surgeons, anaesthetists, physicians etc all practice privately and at the same time too fulfil their obligations in their government own jobs. Owning hospitals abroad by Drs is hard only because of the funding aspect, but private hospitals are owned by businessmen and as a Dr, you can register with such a hospital and bring in your patients to operate on or the hospital calls you to see a patient who has come there for a specialist review. It's not that hard. Drs abroad have their off days that they can decdie to do their private work. They are allowed to work with the government part time if they want and work privately the remaining days. They don't make life difficult for professionals like they do in Nigeria. Now with regards to unethical behaviour, that's frowned upon and is wrong abroad and even in Nigeria. You cannot generalise because some individuals decide to be unethical in dealing with patients. Drs who sleep with patients in the hospital should be sanctioned. That's not the normal even in Nigerian hospitals. Its just sad that the regulatory bodies for Drs and other professionals in Nigeria are barely functioning. |

I like your post. these first year house doctors do not understand it. they think once they graduate they will spray dem with money. all of them always thinking of money. they should raise their salaries a bit to the standards of the bankers. Edusouls: Typical Nigerian mentality everyone wants to be rich, who forced you into studying medicine at the first place? And who even told you doctor is a profession that makes you rich? It’s a profession that calls for human services and not riches, blacks are one kind human beings, always thinking of money, that’s why we are chronically poor.. |
