Politics / Re: What Does Nigeria Stand To Lose If The SW Goes Regional? by fstranger: 11:14pm On Nov 28, 2010

Believe yourself and you believe anything.
You oppose Ohaneze's endorsement of Jonathan
You oppose Atiku and Igbo VP (and potential presidency in 2015 or 2019)Where do you belong? Are you a bat, not bird, not mammal?

Tell the SW to produce a president today and you will see them sing anti-regionalism
Ask yourself why they claim Obasanjo is now Igbo. Shine you eyes, because e be like say you dey blind.
If Igbos want to produce the president in 2015, then a VP slot in 2011 is an antithesis to that
Unless you understand that, you will continue to be frustrated with Nigeria politics.
Politics is a game of chess and number
The more, the better
The better organised you are, the easier it is to achieve your collective goal.

The north are doing it perfectly, using religion as a rallying point
And the SW is doing it somewhat, gradually

The Igbos will continue to be left behind if people like you continue to think the way you do.

@poster.I do not understand if you lack the ability to comprehend the necessary pedantisism  of the merits in regional political liberation. It should be an envious feat to any sane being.I opposed Ohaneze's endorsement decision greatly because of their inability to co-ordinate Igbos into a regional political platform from which their impact can be felt politically.kudos to my Southwest brothers for liberating themselves.Oyo and Ogun will experience backwardness while a new sense of direction will exist in other SW states.

Gbam!
I admire your courage and intellect, brother

What does Nigeria stand to lose if the SW goes regional?
Lagos is no more the capital of Nigeria so there will not be any direct threat to the seat of govt
If the ports are threatened by, say OPC, the feds will either open up the eastern ports or send the military to wipe out OPC
If the international airport in Lagos is threatened, there are others in Abuja, P.H. and the new one in Enugu
If the SW goes regional, it means more free positions for the igbos and others grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
It also means less federal govt patronage (roads, bridges, etc) for the SW
They get only the paltry federal allocation
Abuja has nothing to lose if the SW decides to play Awo politics of seclusion.
They can even secede if they want. They Igbo will not fight to bring them back.

The earlier the better.

What a childish way to reason!

Politics / Re: Is Zoning Holding Nigeria Back? by fstranger: 5:39pm On Nov 28, 2010
KBrown:

Oh! you think we are not being dragged into zoning! If our major concern had been MERIT instead of ZONING, more credible persons than the like of Atiku, IBB, Gusau and Saraki would have come up to challenge the incumbent GEJ. Out of 150 million people, less than 10 are talking! It's either the majority agrees that GEJ appears good enough to continue or there is a dearth of credible personalities.

Lets be clear, there is NO ZONING in Nigeria politics.
That said, there seems to be some sort of Zoning or something like that in PDP, which is solely a PDP idea, definitely not something we all have to go along with

Other parties are not doing ZONING, hence, the INEC does not recognise zoning. The INEC only recognizes candidates and the party they represent, not the zone they belong to
And you will agree with me that people form parties based on common interest. So if the people at PDP want to zone their presidency, so be it. If you do not like the idea, get out of PDP and join any of the other 25 parties that do not zone their presidency.

The only reason the media is discussing it is because PDP is a national party and prolly, unfortunately as it may seem, the only credible party in the land. PDP decides who becomes the president, since there is no other party big enough or strong enough to challenge PDP. That said, they do have the right to organize themselves how ever they want to

SO technically, merit is still being used to decide who becomes the president. This is democracy, Nigerian style, and the person (assumed to be the most competent), like it is done everywhere else, with the most vote wins the election.

I know. I used it purposely in relation to the different tongues in that city.
I know what i'm saying when i said that Yoruba is the 'official' language in Lagos. Those who have lived there can testify.
I brought it up to buttress an earlier point why the guy from Mali found it hard to integrate.
@alj harem.
Thanks i even forgot that. A place i grew up in, somebody is coming to tell me poo about it.
@ DapoBear
I never said it wrong to speak Yoruba in a Yoruba land. What i meant was that in Port Harcourt you dont have to be worried about learning a local language. Everyone speaks English and Pidgin-familiar languages you are already used to.
I lived there too.
The informal language is 'pidgin'
The official language is English
The language of day to day conversation is prolly Yoruba because there are more Yorubas in Lagos, and because the vast majority of people prefer to speak Yoruba

That said, you are free to speak whatever you want.
Even deaf people are allowed to keep mute,as long as they do not disturb the peace
It is indeed a free state, the most civil, tolerant, and peaceful in the federation

Long live Lagos
Long live Lagosians

No one is dragging you into Zoning
Zoning is all PDP talk, and if you do not like it, don't vote for PDP. Simple!
the
Either ways, there is no need for a referendum. It is not up to you and I to decide who becomes the president.
Your votes and opinion do not count, as long as you dont have a bank account at 'a' world famous bank in Zurich, Switzerland.

Politics / Re: Seeking Gold In Lagos by fstranger: 3:31pm On Nov 28, 2010

You are right. In Lagos, anything non-Yoruba is look down on and ostensibly perceived as inferior. Just like DapoBear pointed out that has the bane of many Yoruba Lagosians, and explains why they seem to lag behind others.

On the other hand, Port Harcourt is seen more as a no-man's-land, and mutual respect exist among the different ethnics. The more reason why no indigenous language is used as the lingua franca. Unlike Lagos where the indigenous Yoruba is the official dialect. Those unable to communicate in it are usually not fully integrated into the society.

By whom?
What do you gain from peddling falsehood on the internet?

And who makes Yoruba the official dialect of Lagos?
The last time I checked, Fashola speaks English when on official duties; also, the official language of the Lagos State government is English.

BTW, Yoruba is a language, not a dialect!

In the forgery business, the subject of this thread is still better than Tinubu, though

Mumu
Tinubu lied about the school he attended
His certificates are as valid as ever, however.

He lied about going to GCI, never attended GCI. His WAEC results are valid nevertheless
He lied about going to U of Chicago, although wrong, no one doubts the fact that he actually attended Ryder college before trasnferring to Chicago state. According to his teachers, he was a brilliant student.

His crime is that he wants to be regarded as one of the best, if not the best. His lies centered around the schools he attended, not the authenticity of his pali.

Tinubu is better, by miles.
