You've used this tactics on me before. You are well aware that it never worked. Whenever u are challenged, you'll resort to condescending languages or personal attacks or bragging of mastery of English comprehension. But you wont distract me.

Mr. Katsumoto, SHOW US EVIDENCE THAT AWOLOWO OFFERED ZIK THE TOP JOB IN A COALITION GOVERNMENT AND ZIK REFUSED.

Cant you use Google like he is doing? Katsumoto wasnt there . . .

Nice try.

Why do you have to divide 80  by 2 and not by 3 or 4 or 5?

I have been OAM4J on this site since 2009, that means if it is 4 x J, then I should have been 40 in 2009 . . . Try again. cheesy

My Profile says 80, which means before Obj, I was.  cool

Ha!  Stranger. That is totally you!  At least on NL. I didn't even know there was a "Hunter Soul."  All the people I had take it before were mostly girls and none of us scored "hunter."

We still need more people to take it.   I want Tpia to take it tomorrow.

Funny enough, I actually agree with everything

I am a Sag and the quiz did not ask for my date of birth and it generated a profile almost similar to what to my Sag profile.
I will tell you more off NL.

Hello Awesome Fstranger:

You Are a Hunter Soul
You are driven and ambitious - totally self motivated to succeed.
Actively working to achieve what you want, you are skillful in many areas.
You are a natural predator with strong instincts ,  and more than a little demanding.
You are creative, energetic, and an extremely powerful force.

An outdoors person, you like animals and relate to them better than people.
You tend to have an explosive personality, but you also have a good sense of humor.
People sometimes see you as arrogant or a know it all.
You tend to be a bit of a loner, though you hate to be alone.

Souls you are most compatible with: Seeker Soul and Peacemaker Soul

Angelique Kidjo sings with a lot of Yoruba.

e.g the song Jenifa referred to is a popular Yoruba folklore where a girl that refused all suitors in her village thinking she was too pretty for them was married by Ori(head) Ori had to borrow other parts of the body to complete this fine boy image, when Olajumoke now realised that her new groom was a rolling head she wanted to run away and that song was used to call Ori.

another song. Babalawo by Angelique Kidjo

Yoruba folklore of a man who was told not to use his hand to eat for a while and he disobeyed his tummy bulged

of Babalawo mo wa bebe alugbinrin, won ni kin ma fi owo kan enu

[flash=400,400]http://www.youtube.com/watch=/v/QCWVipbM-aU[/flash]

She spoke a lil better here

But you'd have to agree with me that her intonation and pronunciation in Olajumoke was off!

Jenifa_:

I don't know what dialect she's speaking but it sounded yoruba to me. a very weird way to speak yoruba as a matter of fact. lol

listen to Iwoya by Kidjo with dave matthews. part english part yoruba (weird yoruba). but it's a good song.

Only non-Yorubas like you would call that Yoruba

I am a purist!

Jenifa_:

Angelique Kidjo's Agolo is mostly yoruba.
yeah you have to listen to the song really hard to understand it. I agree.

what helped me is that I already knew the chorus. it's the song to a yoruba folktale.

ori ori o olajumoke n'lo
head head olajumoke is leaving.

the head is the monster that borrows body parts and attires to visit the market and enticed a young girl to follow him. eventually he returned the body parts and jumoke tries to escape from him. but he had some creature/servant/bell that he sings anytime jumoke tries to run away. etc

What dialect was she speaking if I may ask, Ms. I know everything Yoruba because I am dating a Yoruba boy in America?

Here's an example but it is not limited to these areas. Some northern children are actually raised with arabic the same way a lot of us from the south are raised with english, of course along with their native languages.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_Arabic

So when did 10% become overwhelming number!

Have you ever lived up north?
Culture / Re: What Does Mahinmi Mean In Yoruba? by fstranger1: 8:37am On Feb 05, 2011

There is quite an overwhelming amount of arabic speakers in the north also schools that teach it(quaranic schools).

STFU eediot

Reading the quran doesnt mean you can speak Arabic fluently

And yes, there are quranic schools up north. And no, there arent that much Arabic speakers up north.

You are quite a nuisance with your intent to misinform.

KnowAll:

Yoruba is a very simple and easy language to learn more like swahili. Even thus the Eguns/fons are the majority tribe in Benin, but because of the addictive nature of the Yoruba language over the years a healthy trading partnership between Dahomey and Lagos has been well established and developed thereby making Yoruba the language of choice both for business and all manner of trade including slave trading

Yoruba which is suppose to be a side language in Benin has suddenly become the single denominator when people are communicating in Benin,  this explains the reason why staunch fons like Boni Yayi can speak this language, this does not mean the conversant are Yorubas, far from it, but what has happened is just like Ugandans who are not in the slightest way related to Swahili speakers, speaks this language which is not only alien to their country as a language of trade and commerce.

Also,  Just like in Ghana, the Accra people are Gas but the Ashanti language of Kumas, an Akan language,  has more-less become the de-facto single language in Ghana.

Everyone from Ewes in the East to Huasa in the North and Gas in Accra region, all speak Akan or the Kumasi language as a language of first instance.

That is very interesting

Yoruba seem like an easy language to pick up, not sure of that id good or bad

It is prolly the second most commonly spoken language in Nigeria too, besides English. Because you see Igbos and Hausa and Edos speaking the language with ease.
