Science/Technology / Re: Is It Advisable To Use Cooking Gas To Power Generator? by funken: 1:25pm On Jun 23, 2023
Now this is very misleading. Gas can be safely used to power generators. What do you think they use to power the generators on oil rigs and oil flowstations? GAS!!!
The only thing is it has to be done safely. AND 2kg cannot power a gen for 12hrs. That is very false. I powered my 2.5kva gen with 12.5kg for about 20hrs. Take note that i had various loads on it at different times.

kernniejay:

Using cooking gas to power a gasoline (petroleum) generator is not just risky but also deadly! No manufacturer of those generator will ever specify that gas can be used as alternative fuel. But in Nigeria, we know better and we are smarter than the manufacturers, there is nothing we don't by pass or take for granted and we are fond of re-designing machines and equipment to suit our madness here.

Politics / Re: Your State And Who You Are Supporting For The 2023 Election by funken: 10:45am On Jun 18, 2022
this is a hasty generalization. I am not tribal and I favour Obi as president. Don't make this about Yoruba or Hausa. I stay in Lagos and most of the people I have interacted with who are Yoruba by the way are in strong support of Obi...

So you see it is not about tribe but who will be competent enough to move us away from this mess we are currently in

Unzerious:

I'm Agbor by some known Means, not Ika.

Every Nigerian is Tribal, the Yoruba's are tribal with their Support for Tinubu; Obi will Implement laws and make Appointments to favour his Tribe, so will the Northerner's. So what stops me from having my Personal interest at Heart.

I've stayed long enough in Delta to see how the Igbo's behave to the Minorities.

I will call for Bendel Republic, if the chance Presents itself.

@ojeysky pls who sold your lithiums to you?
@ceaser you can also tell me too. Should I dm you or is it something you can share here? did they come with BMS or its something you had to add yourself?

ceaser:

Yep. In Nigeria. Same guy that supplied Ojeysky. He assembles the packs. He has one year warranty on the packs and he guarantees that cells are grade A with serial numbers/codes that can be used to confirm. So far, the batteries have been doing well.

The third pack was imported already assembled. The cells are not CATL. In fact I don't even know the names of the cells sef, but hey the battery has not disappointed going to 10 months. I believe they'll likely be top grade cells too.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by funken: 6:33pm On Aug 31, 2020
Who sold the packs to you? Was it here in Nigeria? And how have they been behaving? Thinking of going all lithium...
Appreciate the info...

ceaser:

Two out of the three battery packs I have are made of CATL. I actually inquired from the guy that sold the pack to make sure he will be using that.

Another good one is CALB. I've not really heard about Greenleaf before.

Morning people. Can the Fangpusan 150V 70A cc effectively charge lithium-ion batteries or can they be programmed to do so? if so how? Looking at it for a 48v setup. thanks!
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by funken: 7:58am On Aug 16, 2020
Thanks guys!!

Will stick to the 3S4P as adviced..

ceaser:

I'm not so sure 250 watts in 4s will not exceed the 150V voc of the CC. Perhaps a nameplate of your panel posted here may help or those with idea of the voc of 250 watts panel can help.

Your present 3s config seems to provide adequate headroom for your CC to handle the 48v charging and additions should be more of parallel going forward. I don't have much knowledge of the Fangpusuns though, but that's what I think obtain for most MPPTs I've encountered.

Edited: I see @ kardozy has same opinion as this.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by funken: 7:14am On Aug 16, 2020
I currently have 9 (250W) panels in a 3S3P config mated to a Fangpusan 150V-70A charge controller on a 48V battery bank. I am thinking of adding 3 additional panels to this. Which is it safer for the CC - to have the panels in 4S3P OR 3S4P configuration?

Would have preferred the 4S3P as the cables I have already run can take the additional panels and I wouldn't want to be running additional cables to my cc.

This is why it is now more important than ever to push the National Broadband penetration plan. Though this situation might be due to a myriad of issues, I think pushing this plan will have a ripple effect on the overall IT industry in Nigeria.

Like they always say in webinars now "the new normal" in these COVID-19 times is a far cry from what we have had all our lives.

The Presidency should push this now!!

I don't think agriculture is the Eldorado of Nigeria. Check out the majority of the developing countries (eg Thailand, Vietnam, etc) and you will see that they have invested heavily in their human capital that has birthed industries. You will see that they are also heavily agrarian societies too. However. agriculture is commodities and no nation is rich with commodities only.

Sunshineg5:
Government needs to invest heavily in Agriculture to reduce the rate of poverty in Nigeria.

It seems simple enough

>Northern Nigeria are known to be very good farmers

>There seems to be a high rate of poverty in the northern Nigeria according to most research results of organizations around the world

> Nigeria spends billions of dollars importing food like rice and co which Northerners can provide.

> Serious investment in Agriculture not just lips service like our government often do would lift millions out of poverty and help strengthen the nation.

I am talking about massive irrigation systems, Storage facilities, training for farmers on new techniques in Farming and introduction of high yield seeds. etc.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by funken: 8:31pm On Sep 06, 2019
It's a new installation. It beats me too because it sometimes goes into float at that voltage. But I have read that it's a problem with the victron algorithm. There are plenty of stories like that in the victron forums. It calculates the absorption time based on the voltage it senses in the batteries. If it senses that the batteries are not deeply discharged, the absorption time is a fraction of the set absorption time period. The default I think is 6hrs. Also if the clouds are over cast or there is any form of shading, the CC sees it as another day has started and it restarts based on the voltage it senses. If that voltage is high but not up to the absorption voltage, it will cut the absorption time and subsequently go into float mode. I think this in a nutshell is what I have been able to gather about the issue.

Was wondering if one can get a workaround to this.

Dkev:

I am confused. If it only gets to 53.7v, that's less than your absorb or float values. Could it be the weather? Was it charging properly in the dry season? Does it ever go into float? How does it go into float at less than the float voltage? Please explain
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by funken: 10:29am On Sep 06, 2019
You can as well take your multimeter to the shop to try and measure the voltage/current from the panels.

But since for example, 250w panels are an average of 29-40k, I will advise you to go for the new ones since these used ones are always like a 5-8k difference.

generationz:

His can one know the history of a panel? I intend to buy from any random shop that sells.

Gurus, I have a Fangpusun 150/70 with a 48v 200ah Ritar AGM battery bank (8 batteries), 9 250w solar panels in 3s3p configuration and I am experiencing it going into float prematurely - hence it does not fully charge the batteries. If I am lucky it charges it up to 53.7v I have read online that this is a problem with the algorithm as it senses the voltage at sun up and uses it to calculate how long absorption time will be.
Absorption voltage currently set to 56v and float is 55.4v.

Is there a workaround that one can adopt? I see they have resolved this in the Victron v1.42 firmware but as we are stuck with the v1.16 what can one do?

If they were well used and you know their history, they are good. I have 3 used panels in my solar array and those guys are producing as much as the new ones that I got.

What do you think about fairly used solar panels?

Can a good 150watts solar panel go for 20k?

is it the baby's fault that he/she was born? Not condoning adultery, but you cannot condemn the child to hell because he/she was born out of wedlock.

Is it right for an adulterer to bring an illegitimate child into the house of God for christening?

If you can answer this question correctly, then you will agree with me that many churches are leading their members to hell.
