Also I am pretty sure you don't work else you will that pregnant women work till month 6 in most places and get a career break with or without pay for sometime after delivery. You say I dont work yet I can employ you. Come to think of it, maybe that's why I dont have any qualms giving a woman something substantial if need be. It's only a man who hasnt handled REAL money that is willing to die for the little he has. Remember you said to go with what you contributed.

She should get a percentage because she contributed a piece of her life by contributing her emotion and her body.

She carried every one of your kids for 9months and went through the very severe pain of being delivered of your babies. All these take a very big toll on her body and she should be compensated if the relationship does not work out.

Contribution should not be by cash alone, there are different ways of contributing in a relationship. Because those other ways can not be easily quantified in monetary terms does not make them worthless.

@jidewin, you raised very good points but pls dont get me wrong. I never said the woman should get most of the assets like the examples you stated, my position is women should not be kicked out of the house empty handed like is widely practised in Nigeria.

Of course why should the woman get the house and pension thereby ruining the man? That's just plain crazy! I think the assets should be shared with something meaningful (not even necessarily up to half) going to the woman.
