Politics / Re: Fayose Closing Down Private Schools In Ekiti by fxman62: 1:57pm On Apr 05, 2016 |
godson36:Op, your post if full of half-truths and misinformation. Governor Fayoose has not sealed any school because of tax. He has only sealed off schools whose proprietors failed to remit the newly introduced education levy of 500 Naira per primary school pupil and 1000 Naira for every secondary school student. The schools were not expected to pay on behalf of their pupils or students, rrather they are to collect and remit same to the coffers of the government. While many schools have collected these monies and in some cases they even collected twice the amount, some have refused to remit the collections to the government. Secondly, it is untrue that some pupils or students have not gone to school for weeks as a result of the governor's action. The closure of schools just started a few days back. In any case, most of the schools have closed for the term. You also made it look as if government fixws the amount to be paid arbitrarily hence your reference to some schools not being able to pay the amount levied on them. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Each school is expected to pay according to the number of pupils/students on roll. If a school fails to collect what is due to government from the pupils/students, then it only has itself to blame. The only truth in your write-up is the last part which questions the rationale behind this levy. I agree with you that it is wrong for ANYBODY in this age and generation to levy Kindergaten, Nursery and Primary school pupils. It is heartless to ask a two-year old in KG 1 to pay to receive education. It is totally unfair and an outright violation of the right of these children to education. Finally, let me add that one should not weep louder than the bereaved. Ekiti State people are enjoying the myriad of levies. The have not complained. Until they hit the street in mass protest, I for one believe they support the governor on this and other issues. I rest my case. |

@Chukwubyk, You may think you are helping Lagtech with your playing the devil's advocate but sincerely speaking you are not. Lagtech himself knows that he is a big disappointment to several of his clients including my humble self and an embarrassment to the import business. He is not denying it. How do you justify a 14 month delay? My items supposedly shipped July 2014 and till date I've not received them. Lagtech has refused to state in plain language what the problem is. Were the goods lost? Were they impounded by Customs? No straight forward answers. All he does is long winding stories that contain no information. Oh I forgot, promises, promises, promises and an unending shifting of delivery dates usually in a few weeks. In his last mail to me, which was a response to a question I asked him, he said my items should be available by the 22nd of August. Today is 22nd and I know another mail will soon come to say I will get my items in a few weeks from mid-September. How do you defend a man like this if you are not like him? Shouldn't you allow Lagtech to defend himself? However it might be that you are actually trying to whip up emotions against Lagtech by pretending to be defending him. But honestly, your posts are beginning to bother on the ridiculous. 14 Likes 1 Share |

Nothing special about this. it's a mistake we all make all the time especially at the beginning of a new year or month when you write the date and you put the figure for the previous year or month. Or sometimes when you have worked so long with a man, if you suddenly have a female boss, the tendency is there that you will mistakenly answer yes sir rather than yes ma. It's natural. |

Please if you really want to be employed by any good school, you must work hard on your communication skills. Teaching is about effective communication. Where an applicant cannot communicate very well in the language of instruction, neither teaching nor learning can take place. I interviewed 3 candidates today and I feel so disappointed at the inability of these supposed graduated to communicate their thoughts effectively to a class of JS 1 students. Poor spellings, bad pronunciation, mixing Yoruba expressions with English and bad tenses characterized the presentations. I weep for this country. 4 Likes |

MY ITEMS SHIPPED BY SEA FIRST WEEK OF JULY YET THEY HAVE NOT REACHED MY HAND. Amd we are told sea shipping is the way to make our millions fast. I am beginning to REGRET my folly at believing in this thread . My only joy is that someone I approached for a loan to process the agency stuff turmed me down otherwise I would have been in jail now. To me this is plain wickedness. Goods bought in May and June and supposedly shipped early July. Almost six months now. How does one explain this? LAGTECH please do something. Do not allow your business to break homes, destroy long standing relatipnships. You should be concerned. Say clearly what the problems are. Politics / Re: Lawyers Demand That Governor Suntai Steps-down by fxman62: 12:50pm On Aug 27, 2013 |
The question that needs urgent answers are: 1. Is this man capable or incapable of governing the state? Has the accident so affected his mental faculty to the extent that he can no longer be relied upon to take rational decisions in the governing of the state? That a man is involved in an accident and needed several months to recuperate does not necessarily make him incapable of ruling. In fact he can still rule from a wheel chair. It doesn't matter. 2. Why did the governor upon his arrival in the country after ten months not address the press or state? Is this not a pointer to the fact that his speech is already impaired? If it so, then it may be that his mental capability too is in doubt. In all these, I'll advise caution on both sides. Let's wait a few more days. If the man had been gone for 10 months and Taraba did not disintegrate, a few more days or weeks wait will definitely Not do more harm. 1 Like |

It is wrong for anyone to say only one Yoruba man understood the plight of the Biafrans.I know many Yoruba families who hid Igbo men and women on their plantations far away from the rampaging Hausa soldiers during the war. Yorubas are naturally caring and protective of strangers, even till today. Unfortunately, most of those castigating the Yorubas today were not yet born during the civil war. let them go home and ask those who were old enough to know what happened then and they will hear a different story. The truth of the matter was that the Biafran war faikled more because of the way the Igbos handled it - the belief that they could go it alone. If they had parleyed with the Yorubas then and sought their support, the story would have been different. Not only that, we have read in several memoirs that Ojukwu did not consult widely with the people that mattered among the Igbos and when he did, he took little or no advise. So who is to blame for this? Besides, the international; community did not help the cause of Biafra because the war came before the present day age of technology when some of the atrocities committed against the Igbos would have been beamed to the entire world and which would have garnered them enough support. |
Politics / Re: Soyinka To Patience Jonathan - Be A Lady Before Being A "First Lady" by fxman62: 10:54am On Jul 16, 2013 |
99cent: I see that you do not understand my post, hence it makes no sense to you. I wrote not to highlight WS's good works but to correct the impression that WS was belittling women in general by criticizing Patience. I only used the above to show that WS will take on any one, man, woman, soldier or politician, academician or any other whom he is convinced is not doing the right thing. WS merely spoke the minds of many of us who do not understand the rationale behind the recklessness of many 'first ladies' in Nigeria. In my earlier post, I did say that in Ekiti State, the official protocol has been twisted to place the Governor's wife before the Elected Deputy Governor. No one is underestimating the power of women. I do not subscribe to women being treated as underdogs or second class citizens. I have four daughters and I desire that they grow up to become great and respected women. However, I believe there should be a line between a right and a priviledge. I voted for Jonathan and he rules by right of that mandate. I did not vote for Patience. She is my president's wife and I respect her as such, but she cannot make laws for me neither can she outline policies for me. If she wishes to do any of these, then let her contest an election and win. Until then, she should learn to operate under her husband's powers. We do not need any show of power to know that she is the President's wife. She should learn from Hilary Clinton. She was the first lady to the President of the most powerful nation on earth, yet she conducted herself with dignity. She was later to be a Senator in America. If she had behaved the way our own Patience is behaving today, Americans will never vote for her. Finally, let me add that the WS that I know is not given to frivolous talks. He is a very sober man. He is ever objective in his criticisms. He may be growing old, but he is not senile. The problem with us is that no one wants to rock the boat. When we see bad things being done, we do not speak out as long as it does not affect us directly. And anyone who chooses to speak out is vilified. |

aikeron: Cursed is the man who tries to please God by obeying the laws, for no one is justified by the law in the sight of God (Gal.3 vs 10-11). What law are your talking about? The law of holiness? The law of perfection? The law of modesty? The law of one man one wife? The law of no divorce after marriage? The law of no partying? Did Christ not encourage these in his teachings? Did the early apostles not emphasize them in their teachings? Did we not receive the gospel through these early apostles? For God's sake, if we must criticize, DL, let's look for better things to say. Christ did not save us to live a lawless life. In fact Jesus told us that when we choose to follow him, we have a 'yoke' to bear. Matt 11:28. In another part, he calls it 'cross'. he said, "anyone that will follow me will take up his cross" You think the cross is easy? Even Jesus did not find it easy. Maybe it's because of the wrong teachings that we receive these days that made us believe that the Christian life is meant to be an easy roller-coaster kind of life. No! That my dear is religion not Christianity. The true Christian lives a sacrificial life! Read Rom 12:1. We are called upon to present ourselves, a living sacrifice! Paul understands this very well. He said, "those things that were gain to me, I counted loss that I might gain the excellency that is in Christ Jesus" Flamboyant life, flamboyant wedding, worldly enjoyment and amusement, that should have been gain to me, I count as loss, that was what Paul said. Are we going to a different heaven? let's wake up and follow the scriptures. |

k2039: I have said it before and I say it now that John was wrong in what he did. every family has its own way of doing things. What the family I come from may count as bad may be what your family glorifies. John and Love were not in doubt about what DL preaches and does. If they were in disagreement, they should have left the church long ago at least after attaining the age of accountability (18). But they chose to remain! It's like being in the military and discovering you do not believe in the code of conduct of the military. A wise man will resign his commission at that point. But if he chooses to stay back and refuse to be mobilized for war on any grounds, he will be court-martialled. Ask Mohammed Ali. He was mobilized to go to Vietnam but refused to go because he did not believe in the war and he was stripped of his World heavy-weight title! Ali should have simply renounced his American citizenship but he clung to it but refused to obey America. John and Love in staying back in the church while deciding they do not believe in the doctrines of the church is the hypocrisy that I see here. Martin Luther King left the Catholic church when he could not cope with the doctrines of that organization. He was asked to recant but he placed his hand on the Bible and said to his accusers, "On this word of God i stand, the just shall live by faith" That John and Love have apologized show that they do not have any personal conviction as to what they did! They are the problem here, not DL or the GS. The question now is should a parent share in the blame for the child's misbehaviour? Check the scripture and you will see that the answer is Yes. Eli is one clear example. The Bible in the book of Timothew prescribes raising Godly children as a prerequisite for being a deacon (church worker). In this case therefore, I agree that the Pastor should go on suspension for a few months so he can show to all that he is not above the scriptures. And if you do not have children yet or your children are still young and they seem like angels, rather than spend time condemning DL or the GS, I suggest you begin to pray for God-fearing children because the things children do these days are becoming stranger and stranger. Its all a fulfillment of the scripture. Raise them without the Bible they give hell, raise them with the Bible, they disappoint. Where do we go from here? May God help us all. 2 Likes |

If that Police corporal knows what is good for him, he should hand over his resignation letter immediately before he is framed for an offence he knows nothing about. Security services all over the world do not take kindly to being exposed by one of their own. I won't be surprised if the man is posted to Maiduguri in a few weeks time. 1 Like |
