Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Friday announced that his administration had earmarked over N1bn for the renovation and supply of furniture and education materials across all secondary schools in the state.
A statement from Ambode’s Chief Press Secretary, Habib Haruna, made available on Friday, said the governor disclosed the information while speaking at the inauguration of Augustine University, a private university owned by the Catholic Church.
The statement said that the state government would also employ 1,300 teachers to teach in primary schools in the state.
The governor also assured that his administration would resolve the lingering crisis in the Lagos State University, Ojo, according to the statement.
He attributed the recent inauguration of new Governing Councils for the institution and other tertiary institutions in the state to the need to resolve the crisis in the school.
Appreciating the Catholic Church for the project, Ambode described education as integral to bringing about positive change in the country.
He said, “From my exposures, I have come to the conclusion that there is no greater form of preparation to manage change than through education.
“There is no greater investment that the individual parent can make than investment in education of highest possible quality.”
The governor described the inauguration of the Catholic university as important for Lagos State, which he said was in dire need of additional institutions of learning, considering its large population with 60 percent of its residents below 35 years of age.

Ikorodu(Lagos State) – A 32-year-old man, Wasiu Kareem was arraigned on Friday at Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for stealing N120,000 belonging to his girlfriend.

The accused, who resides at No 4, Olowolagba St., Ikorodu, is also standing trial for burgling the girlfriend’s apartment

The police prosecutor, Cpl. Mary Ajiteru told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Oct.19 at his girlfriend’s resident.

“ It was learnt that the duo had been dating for some time and the accused had been living in his lover’s apartment.

“They both had misunderstanding and the woman sent the accused parking.

“He came back to burgle his lovers’ apartment and stole N120, 000.

“The case was reported to the police and he was apprehended and arrested,’’ he said.

Ajiteru said the offence contravenes section 385(a) and 285 of the criminal Code Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The Magistrate, Mr O.O. Olatunji granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties who must also show evidence of tax payment and live within the Magisterial jurisdiction.

Olatunji adjourned the case till Nov.26, for hearing.(NAN)

@Joeace3000, I also downloaded the song but I'm just not in the best position to comment on songs, so I'm still not commenting but I'm using this opportunity to call on Seun, Lalasticlala, airmark, fynestboi, Ishilove and to all powers that be, Seun I think its high time you address upcoming artists on NL and tell us the criteria which would make a song make FP so when my song does not make front page I know why its not making it cos its disheartening spending nothing less than 5hrs on NL daily while someone that has not made a comment since 2012 gives us an appetizer while we wait for the main food on sunday. Pls we need a level playing field. Just check the year I joined NL and check the time spent, check how many comments and threads created, you would know me and many other artists on NL deserves a fair play.

The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife still maintains her earlier announcement that resumption date for the Second semester 2014/2015 academic session is, and still remains November 1,2015.
In reaction to the management's decision and position,the ASUU Chairman,OAU Chapter, Dr. Aborisade informed OAU Students' Union President Yesterday via a phone call that even if school resumes for Second semester by November1,lectures would not commence until November 9th,2015.
It would be recalled that earlier this week, the Students' Union Academic committee issued a release on resumption.
They highlighted the academic calendar for Second semester, November 1,2015 was put to be resumption date. They, however promised OAU Students that if there would be any change in the academic calendar for 2014/2015 Academic session's second semester, the students would be well informed.

ACJ NEWS REEL gathered from a reliable source that as at last week, OAU Lecturers demanded 30 days rest starting from the date of the close of First semester(2014/2015 academic session) activities which the Management rejected- this action left the students to speculate that resumption date should be November 15,2015.

However with recent clarifications made by ASUU Chairman, ACJ NEWS REEL is glad to inform OAU students that the Resumption date for second semester remains November 1,2015 but lectures would commence by Nov. 9, 2015, and rumors enveloping the air that the Resumption date for second semester is November 15,2015 is untrue.

If there is any change in the calendar, ACJ NEWS REEL would do well to inform the generality of OAU Students.
