PPAngel: Militarization Of Energy Policy: U.S. Africa Command And Gulf Of Guinea
At the beginning of the century, while the United States was still embroiled in military interventions in the Balkans and had launched what would become the longest war in its history in Afghanistan with the invasion of Iraq to follow, it was also laying the groundwork for subordinating the African continent to a new military command.
With 4.5 percent of the world’s population, the U.S. accounts for approximately 30 percent of crude oil consumption. Although the world’s third largest producer of crude, it imports over 60 percent of what it consumes (12.4 of 20.7 million barrels it uses daily). A decade ago 15 percent of those imports came from the Gulf of Guinea region on Africa’s Atlantic Ocean coast, mainly from Nigeria, and it is projected that the proportion will increase to 25 percent in the next four years.
The National Energy Policy Report issued by the Office of Vice President Richard Cheney on May 16, 2001 stated: “West Africa is expected to be one of the fastest-growing sources of oil and gas for the American market. African oil tends to be of high quality and low in sulfur…giving it a growing market share for refining centers on the East Coast of the U.S.”
The following year, the Washington, D.C.-based African Oil Policy Initiative Group conducted a symposium entitled “African Oil: A Priority for U. S. National Security and African Development,” with the participation of American legislators, policy advisers, the private sector and representatives of the State Department and Defense Department, at which Congressman William Jefferson said:
“African oil should be treated as a priority for U.S. national security post 9-11. I think that…post 9-11 it’s occurred to all of us that our traditional sources of oil are not as secure as we thought they were.”
As is customary in regards to American foreign policy objectives, the Pentagon was charged with taking responsibility. It immediately went to work on undertaking three initiatives to implement U.S. energy strategy in the Gulf of Guinea: U.S. Africa Command, the first overseas military command inaugurated since 1983. The U.S. Navy’s Africa Partnership Station as what has developed into the major component of the Global Fleet Station, linked with worldwide maritime operations like the 1,000-ship navy and the Proliferation Security Initiative and piloted in the area of responsibility of U.S. Southern Command and the U.S. Fourth Fleet reactivated in 2008: The Caribbean Sea and Central and South America. The NATO Response Force designed for rapid multi-service (army, air force, navy and marine) deployments outside of the bloc’s North American-European area of responsibility. I love you and your view points"nice thread anyway. |

Politics › Re: Attack On Igbos In Yoruba Land: My Take. by gab264(m): 11:51am On Oct 15, 2015 |
Jman06: I read with great "joy" the news about the attack on Igbo traders in Akure. Ordinarily, such news would have left me boiling in rage but I don't know why I did not feel any pity for the attacked traders. Rather I felt like even encouraging the Yoruba's to go for more attacks on the igbos .
An Igbo proverb says that "uku jie agu mgbada abia ya ugwo" , meaning that when a lion suffers from a broken leg, even the weakest animal comes to challenge him to a fight. Indeed, "uku e ji go ndigbo"!. The once brave ndigbo have turned cowards because of their insatiable desire for money.
Immediately Gowon deceived them with the "one Nigeria" nonsense, they became more Nigerian than even Gowon himself. That is why you see them in every nooks and crannies of Nigeria laboring so hard to develop their host communities. Yet what they get in return is frequent attacks from their hosts. They are attacked in the north and southwest on daily basis, yet they have refused to come to terms with the fact that they are not wanted in Nigeria.
Ndi Igbo! " e ji ogwu mee unu ife a"? (Are you people under a spell?). You have the money. You have the MEN. You have the connection. Yet you want to fold your arms and watch Yoruba and Awusa people turn you into a play thing in Nigeria
Ndi Igbo, wake up and militarize your youths and stop taking all sorts sh1t from "ndi ofe mmanu" and "ndi awusa". If you don't do this, be rest assured that all your much talked about "hard works" are in vein because a time would come when "ndi ofe" and "ndi oku isi'' might decide to annihilate you from the surface of this earth and take over all what you have labored to build.
"Otutu okwu a diro na uka mgbede". A word is enough for the wise. Op all I can say,is that our problem lies on our hand to put to an end. But instead we insist to to chase shadow'$. I hate a country call Nigeria, because the one Nigeria our ansestors have ever wanted are being truacated every day all this so call awusa, and yorrobbers. I just weep for maa pple, they have strife to make this entity to work with little to show for it. In as much as we are still staged in this scamm called Nigeria, the story will forever be the same. Nigeria are too old to exbitin all this tribal wars all over. It is really a shame. I onced like mine being a Nigerian, But I cursed the day of the almagmation of this scamm call one Nigeria. #pity# |

There is this gurl she was my best friend.(Like best friend yaa" Everyone has a soul mate, and when I first met her, I'm like we have a lot in commons. We do everything together. I've never trusted someone that deep that it hurts to see her doing other stuff with someone else. She is always in club activities. I never think that the club would bother so much. Well, it did. I let her be what she wanted and what she loved. She loves finding new friends and hanging out in all sort of activities. But... I didn't thought that she put me as a 'friend' even a stranger now. She's always there for me in the past. Not anymore. She is always caring for her club members, and even her best friend now. I was so depressed, figuring out what have I done wrong. Until I saw the conversation between one of my best friend a (guy) and her. The time I read the conversation, tears fell from my eyes. It's been 4 months since I know everything. I can't focus on anything.I barely help my mum in her business which am here for. Those words haunts me everyday. All those words, stabbing through my heart, fake, annoying, immature, etc. She was complaining everything about me, to my best friend. 'All the girls here are so immature, (Infact all girls in this whole wide world) i can't stand them anymore, She is the first and the only girl that I would like to hangout with' I wasn't having a bad time when she told my friend this. Until these words came. 'including (me), I have a big issue with her attitude, oh well, they just need time to grow up' I was brokenhearted that time. I barely can breathe. And she started complaining. 'If you spend five days in a week, 8 hours a day, you'll know her, I have to face her everyday and I'm kinda fed up with her attitude.' I'm literally crying now. I always tell myself, no, she wouldn't do this. Maybe it's just some misunderstanding. But that's the proof. I can't deny it. She was lying all this time. It's been 4 months. I can't forget a thing she has said to me,girls are the worst I ave ever seen. All that she said to me it's all in my head, my heart. It's no using for me to shout and scold her here. I just wanted to tell everybody, my grandma is right, don't trust any girl, your friend too much, you can't even trust your own family, how can you trust a really close stranger? That's my story about why I hated her, no... it should be, I hated me...and hate all girls, they are all dhe same.Because I can't imagine that she will change a bit. Romance › Re: 8 Things Stingy Guys Present As Birthday Gifts For Their Girlfriend by gab264(m): 6:12pm On Oct 14, 2015 |
wristbangle: It beats my imagination on the way guys who are stingy to the core treat their girlfriend by getting cheap items which is not worthy of her personality.
Not that they lack money to stop them from being generous but since the dna of stinginess runs through their veins, they close their mind to quality Items and purchase the following cheap things as birthday gift for her.
1. Recharge Card
This is not some sort of exaggeration because it happens for real. If it was possible for our network providers to print N50 recharge card, some guys will offer it as birthday gift. It's not that they are poor or something, it's because stinginess runs in their blood. Sometime this year, Ishilove once said that Kingtom sent her N100 MTN Share and Sell as her birthday present.
2. Malam's Wristwatch
You won't believe that just because some guys have not gotten under the skirt of their girlfriends, they resort to buying her cheap gifts. These stingy dudes may seek Malam's consent to purchase fake sparkling wristwatch of N200 and will offer it as birthday present for her.
3. Ab0ki Fragrance
Few months ago, Tosyne2much told me he wanted to buy Aboki perfume for Omotayo123 as her birthday present, I was like "Tosin you don pass dis level nah". Despite the fact that these perfumes may last up to one month when on clothes, flies will be hovering around you. I don't think it's a good present for the one you truly love.
4. Cheap birthday card
The life of stingy guys can be so funny that they will go to supermarket and spend more time looking for cheap birthday cards. After buying it, they will write Shakespeare's captivating love quotes in the card.
5. They offer nothing
I have seen the case of a guy who sent sms birthday wishes to his girlfriend and switched off his phone till the next day, only to lie to her that he had a terrible accident. This shows his level of stinginess is at sky level.
6. Rendezvous at fast food
Yeah! this is a good place for guys to entertain their girlfriend during her birthday. Some of them will take her there and go straight to the counter just to order for doughnut and pepsi. If possible some of them will even order for zobo or kunu
7. Second hand wears
A lady once opened a thread on this forum complaining about her stingy boyfriend who got her okrika as birthday present. We are not saying you should rob bank to buy exotic gift, but at least, getting her a T-shirt worth of N2, 000, it's not too much to give.
8. Suya/Asun
As funny as it may sounds, some guys offer it as birthday present. I have once offered this before God delivered me from stinginess.
Feel Free To Add Yours Some guys go to tailors to sow underwears (p*nts ) and present it as a birthday" |

I'm currently dating a girl...(don't wanna mention names so I'd just go with ladyA and ladyB)...LadyA very good looking (sexy and all) we've been together for more than two yrs now...she doesn't seem to understand me I joke a lot and most time she misinterprets and we end up fighting...we once went for 3months without any form of communication until I had to break the silence then we reconciled...she doesn't inspire me to do anything she actually feels she loves me but I think she doesn't (not intentionally though)...LadyB however, not dat pretty (not too sexy and all) but we get along very well...we joke a lot, she seem to understand me quite well...the problem however is dat I don't knw mayb probably because we r not dating dats why I feel dat way. she always complain abt her bf and always trying to get me to ask her out but I always dodge it...however she inspires me a lot infact am having a job interview tomorrow all because of her encouragement....now the question am trying to ask is what you guys advice me to do abt this situation...LadyA gets very emotional...If at all am going to end it with her, don't knw how to go abt it cos I wouldn't wanna see a lady cry because of me or what I did... I feel ladyB might change if we eventually start dating...because most girls tend to b nice until they get what they want...so am confuse here your advice will be appreciated thanks... nurture and tolerate the one u have already girls ain't that perfect as yhu fink.
