The United States government has lauded President Goodluck Jonathan and President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, for their commitments to the Abuja Peace Accord which they signed before the March 28 presidential election. In a statement issued Thursday by Secretary of State, John Kerry, the US applauded Nigerian voters for their patience and commitment to participate in the democratic process. “In January, I travelled personally to Nigeria and met with both President Jonathan and now President-Elect Buhari,” Mr. Kerry said. “At that time, I emphasized that for the United States, Nigeria is an increasingly important strategic partner and that Nigeria has a critical role to play in the security and prosperity of this continent and beyond. “I also said that it was imperative that these elections are an improvement over past elections and that they need to set a new standard for this democracy. That means that Nigerians needed to not only reject violence but actually promote peace. “We laud both President Jonathan and General Buhari for their public commitments to the Abuja Accord signed in January and reaffirmed March 26, respecting the official results, and encouraging their supporters to do the same.” The US government commended President Jonathan for his years of service and for having acted in the best interest of Nigeria. It also lauded Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for conducting a free, fair, and credible election. “We welcome President Jonathan’s calls for unity and calm during this transition period,” Mr. Kerry said. “The United States commends Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its Chairman, Attahiru Jega, on the generally orderly vote, on the use of technology such as card readers to increase the credibility and transparency of the electoral process, and on prompt communication of the results. “While we note reports of logistical problems, such incidents did not undermine the overall outcome of the election.” The US government also extended its congratulations to Mr. Buhari and reiterated its commitment to working with the newly elected government. source http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/180484-us-government-lauds-jonathan-buhari-for-respecting-abuja-peace-accord.html

I am a P.D.P. fan and will forever remain one no matter what happens. Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is a great president is a fact that is undisputable. Its quite unfortunate that things turns out the way it did nobody saw it coming. Dr Goodluck Jonathan did his best he lost his seat due to the ungrateful nature of Nigerians they pointed fingers to the fact that he failed to handle the insurgency. Several development was done during his term but we choose to be blind to see all what he had done. Mark Anthony in Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare said ’’THE EVIL THAT MEN DO LIVE AFTER THEM BUT THEIR GOOD ARE BURRY WITH THEIR BONES”. Dr Goodluck Jonathan I wish you all the best in all your endeavor you will forever remain in my heart To the incoming president Gen Muhammadu Buhari I say a big congratulation to you because it is a victory for Nigeria it shows that we are matured enough to decide who o govern us. General all eyes are on you, you promise us CHANGE and that we want anything short of that is unacceptable. We put you there because we trust you and we can still remove you if you fail to deliver us true democracy. We hope to see development in all sectors of the country. To Nigerians I say Congratulation we did the voting an base on the outcome our votes count it means a plus to democracy because its about the people. We clamour for change and I believe the CHANGE that they promise us will be for the good because I still ponder on what they really mean by the CHANGE From Gabby227 |

]If you are actually asking this incongruous question from the bottom of your heart, then you are no different from my three year old kid sister. Why would a mature young man need the opinion of people in other for him to make the right decision for himself. Please you are as immature as all arsenal january transfer Missclassy thanx for ur contribution i believe that i am mature enough to make a decision but i also believe that opinion of people are very important, there are somethings i may put into consideration that may not be in accordance with others view. I just want to get what others have to say though i have my own personal decisions, i believe that you need me likewise i need you in life, anyone who just decide thinking that he/she knws it all is boind to face challenges in life because of i too knw. Thanx for ur understanding |
