A responsible and responsive government will always know the best ways to touch the lives of its people. The syringe manufacturing company is a good development considering the job opportunities and IGR it will generate if well managed. From the man of uncommon transformations in uncommon infrastructures, to the man of uncommon industrialisation. Thanks Mr. Governor for continuing in the footsteps of your predecessor.

Well stated. This is just the truth. Restructuring will hurt the north. Period. So the north knows its parasitic relationship with the south is coming to an end via restructuring. Unfortunately to them, that is the only basis for peace and coexistence of this country. So restructuring is a southern concocted policy? I doubt the education of some fellows.

MadCow1:
Mtcheeeeew.. How did I end up with some of you fhuckers in the same country.. angry

The house was built in 1976.. That makes it 40 years old plus. And remember it's a commercial building meaning it's had more use than a private residence.

None of you have any information on the structural integrity of the building yet you are all cursing the Governor. The same you Guys will travel overseas and come and be telling us stories and sharing photographs of fine buildings you took pictures inside. Yet when you return here you will all run out with machetes to stop the Government from moving a Market away from the Center of town. angry

If that building collapses tomorrow, you people will start shouting how government is inefficient of how the dead people were used for election sacrifice.

The person that posted that nonsense and her family are in the United States.. If that building collapses and kills anybody, they will just lock up and not return to even help bury the dead.

Please some of you need to start using your brains more. Poverty is not an excuse to be foolish. angry

Interesting. But my dear friend
1. That a building is 40 years old doesn't mean it should be demolished. In Badagry, Port Harcourt, Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom state, and other parts of this country, we still see buildings that were built by our colonial masters.
2. That building only needed a renovation and further structural strengthening if it was a threat to the people.
3. If he notified the owners verbally to remodel the building, did he give them the needed time to come and remodel the building?
4. Before going to destroy the building, did he provide an alternative building for the displaced persons?
5. After demolition, did he pay compensation for pulling down people's sources of livelihood?
6. If there are good buildings abroad, have you also seen the world tourism sites listed in the UN world heritage lists? If you have, you will believe with me that some of those sites are old centuries building remodeled to suit present building standards with native or traditional inclinations.
7. I believe as it is done in Port Harcourt, if the government wants to build big cities, go and develop the bushes. The bushes are not for witches and wizards or ocultic and clandestine activities. The greater Garden City in Port Harcourt is not used to destroy already established buildings. Go to old Aba road in PH, you will see older buildings than that, they are only been remodeled. Are the lands in Imo state exhausted? Greater Oweri or whatever shouldn't take away the livelihood of anybody without adequate compensation.
These are issues we should consider and not been biased and defend the ineptitude of governance blindly. Staying abroad doesnt give anybody the right to vandalize the properties you build with your hard earned money not to mention a widow and a pensioner. This is the kind of supports that keep us where we are today.
Period!
Religion / Re: 10 Reasons Why Every Believer Must Speak In Tongues by Gabbyelep: 6:58pm On Aug 13, 2017
Nigeriadondie:
undecidedTongues speaking was a gift of d holy spirit which enabled early christians back then to preach in a language(tongue) other than their own.

Before the birth of christianity, God had a covenant relationship with man but that was to change as the old Law was to be replaced with the new law enacted by d blood of Jesus and henwas no longer dealing with humans on d basis of the old law but thru d newly formed christian congregation after Christ's death and ressurection. To convince many that the congregation had His backing, he uses gifts of d spirit such as tongues- 1 Corinthians 14:22.

The gift of speaking served another purpose. During the time of Jesus there was no printing and broadcasting to relay messages to a mass audience as we ve now. Also, there was d issue of language barrier which wud hamper d spread of d gospel of God's will and purpose. To overcome these challenges, tongues speaking filled that need.

Please open ur Bible to read Acts 2:1-11 but with emphasis on verses 6-11 where you wud observe that the tongues spoken where in d real sense of it real languages that were understood by other people who spoke the language not some senseless and meaningless words spoken by ALL tongues speaking pentecostal churches. That way, people cud hear the message of God in their own native language. If u read Acts2:41 u would see that d result of tongues speaking was the 3,000 converts who would now carry witj them to whereever they went the message of goodnews or gospel fulfilling what Christ said in Acts1:8 and what Paul said in Colossians 1:23.

Again, lets examine tongue speaking in the time of early christians and the ones of our time which for me is mere rambling of meaningless words which is tantamount to noise which I recall in my High school class is an unpleasant noise.
Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 and 27-31 with emphasis on verse 30.
Read also 1 Corinthians 14:5-33,40 but lay emphasis on 5,11,12,13,19,26-28,31,33,40.
You would realise that when tongues are spoken then it must be interpreted. If no interpretation the tongue speaker has achieved nothing.
Also in verse 31, people cant speak in tongues simultaneously (at the same time) it would make d place rowdy/noisy/disorderly/chaotic as the gathering of barbarians. And the God true christians worship is a God or order as verse 33 shows and so christians must worship God in an orderly manner as verse 40 shows. Not the simultaneous noise making of all in the pentecostal churches we see today, people rambling making noise uttering words they nor their listeners understand and as such cannot interpret what the blabbed which is required.

Now in our time, we ve a well developed printing and broadcasting technology that has overcome the language barrier. The spread of d goodnews is no longer impeded by language barrier as the Bible is now printed in all the living languages spoken today. We even have d Braille for the blind and some bibles have sign language for d deaf. Beinh an ardent admirer of Jehovah's Witnesses the have their publications in about 800 languanges and have a mobile application called "JW LIBRARY" in about 800 languages. If u doubt me u can download it and u wud be amazed at its unique features. Even their website www.jw.org is in many languages as well so making tongues speaking obsolete.
Also , they ve many missionaries who ve taken up the challenge of leaening bew languages so they could reach people who speak that language with d gospel.

As Paul said in 1Corinthians 13:1-13, the gifts of speaking in tongues and other gifts of d holy spirit would pass away with time. This is because as d christian congregation was still in its baby or infant stage, extraordinary gifts of the spirit was needed to convince people of God's approval of the christian congregation but as time went by and it grew beyond the babe stage, the traits of babes has to be put way and as such these gifts are no longer required. They ve outlived their purpose.

Hence, we should not be arried away with all these fake pentecostal churches. Look at what d Bible says Matthew 7:21-23, 2Thessolonians 2:8-10

Well, I will accept your analysis of the importance of tongues in the early church towards reaching the unreached who were alienated because of language barrier. That is an awesome explanation. But looking at your comment to support the fact tongue is obsolete, I instead prefer to differ. Speaking in tongues has no dispensation. It all started at the tower of Babel through the days of Christ and to this day. Whereas God gave tongues at Babel to disunite an ill intended united people, God is rather giving us tongues in the present to unite a disunited generation as seen by the testimony of the number of folks who were united with the apostles in the day of Pentecost. That hasn't change and is still a mercenary for uniting a divided world today until the world is united in one purpose at the last day. What I mean is that, until heaven and earth passes away, tongues will never be obsolete. When you talk about the Bible being written in many languages of the world, I want to say that the world has over 3000 languages and 800 languages covered by the JW as mentioned in your explanation is no way half the number of languages in the world. Just ask yourself, how many languages are in your state and how many of them has Bible in their local languages. As an Orthodox Christian who has received and being led by the spirit, I disagree with you on the note that tongues are obsolete. NO NO NO

Plan to make Osinbajo president will fail - A coalition of Arewa Youths said

"Having given power to the Yoruba on a platter of gold in 1999 as a way of compensating them for the June 12 saga, it is quite worrisome and unfortunate that they have lived up to their legendary reputation of backstabbing and betrayal by supporting the divisive calls for restructuring or dismemberment of the nation against the will and desire of the north," the statement said. "We gave the late Chief MKO Abiola the mandate in 1993 but shortly after that, as it is with the Yoruba as a culture, they immediately started circling around Abiola plotting on how to emasculate the north and strip us of every access we had to the politics and economy of this nation. “They had also raised a secret army of their elites to carry out these sinister plans against the north if Abiola eventually became president. It was this army that was unleashed on the nation in the guise of NADECO during the June 12 impasse.

May we remind the Yoruba that without the willingness and magnanimity of the north, there was no way Abiola could have purportedly won that election, and that all the Yoruba have now as assets in the south west, especially Lagos, were given to them by our leaders out of our own usual magnanimity. However, time and time again, the Yoruba have always turned their back on us whenever their support is needed.

Is Islam only practiced among Buhari's herdsmen? Can we please desist from this folly? We have better brains than this na. The govt does not have the capacity to pay off the cost once, that is why they pay it in bits yearly. Try and get some simple facts right before insinuating fraud.

This is laughable that the federal govt does not have the capacity to offset the cost once. Are those projects worth the entire budget of Lagos in a year? Simply put, we need proper fund management.

This is quite naive of you. The abandoned project issues we have all over the country are as a result of this mentality.

Don't you also think that the cause of abandoned projects across the country is as a result of this part allocations (if it is true) of funds to projects? When a new govt comes and push away the projects as a priority, the projects become abandoned and the money spent on it, becoming a waste? Let's be sincere and see the truth.

A road project can last for three or four years. The budget allocation is for the work that will be done in that particular year. All the money will not be in one year's budget. That is why those big highway projects seem to be recurring. Please, get educated.

Don't you see that as an avenue for the abandoned projects everywhere in Nigeria? What will happen if all these roads were awarded to be completed in one year without leaving for the next year's fiscal budget. What if a new govt comes in and decide to abandon the project that the previous government had spent billions without completion? I think we don't need all these yearly allocation of funds to a particular project if there is proper management of our budgetary allocations.
Politics / Re: Fashola Laments Lagos-Ibadan/2nd Niger bridge Budget Cuts by NASS by Gabbyelep: 3:05pm On Jun 23, 2017
Are those road and expressway projects recurrent expenses? I presume they were supposed to be taken care of in a particular fiscal year as capital projects. Why are they appearing on every year's budgetary estimates? I think the National Assembly did well to reduce these expenses. Corruption is just been carried out every day through these ministries that keep on allocating hard earned tax payers moneys for supposedly capital projects like purchase of computers, construction of roads etc in the budget every year. These men in the executive suits must not just do whatever seems best to them at the expense of the masses. Thumbs up to NASS for reducing the stonky budgetary allocations. As for Fashola, if the contractors threaten to abandon the projects, use the approved allocation and hire new contractors to complete the projects. Is that what you people tell civil servants whenever they threaten to go on strike? No Work, No Pay, you will tell them, so do same to the contractors or are they above the No Work, No Remittances?Whether SAN or not, the legislators have the constitutional right to alter any unscrupulous budgetary estimates. God bless Nigeria.
