Getting a job offer from an approved employer is not at all easy. Nova Scotia keeps scouting EE pool. In Nov/Dec they sent NOI to a lot of people in the EE pool. The occupation was mainly Accounts/Finance.
In my opinion the best bet would be to go for EE and get in the pool at least, you never if you get lucky.

Got fed up with this country and my quest to get out with my wife and kid was born, did a little research and found Canada to be the dream place, and I also found this thread, asked questions and was given answers but when I discovered what it will take me as a pharmacist and the numerous exams, I threw in the towel even before I started.

HealthDo You Know The Best Supplements For Your Age? by Gabriel411(op): 3:02pm On Mar 14, 2019
You do your best to eat right. You stay away from junk food, and you eat fruits and vegetables as often as possible. But is your diet falling short of essential vitamins and minerals? Should you be taking dietary supplements?

According to the National Institutes of Health, more than half of American adults take at least one dietary supplement, most commonly a multivitamin. This is a good place to start if you think you are not getting all the nutrients you need from your diet. But keep in mind, dietary supplements are intended to supplement the diet, not to cure, prevent or treat diseases or replace the variety of foods important to a healthy diet.

Our nutritional needs change as we move through different stages of life, so consider a multivitamin targeted for women in your age group. It should contain B vitamins; vitamins A, C, D, E and K; and various minerals, such as calcium and magnesium. Also remember that to be fit and healthy, adjust your diet, as well as your vitamin and supplement intake, to meet the extra demands placed on your body and the specific needs of each decade.

19 to 30 Years of Age

Calcium

Calcium builds strong bones, but is also important for healthy muscles, nerves and heart. Women should be careful to get enough calcium throughout life, but you want to build bone density in your 20s because the body will lose some of that bone in later years. The more you start with, the better off you are. You need 1,000 milligrams of calcium per day while you are in your 20s. Consider taking a calcium supplement if you don't receive enough calcium from your diet through dairy products, calcium-fortified orange juice and cereals, beans, leafy greens, almonds and salmon.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D, like calcium, is essential for bone health and may reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease. It also promotes calcium absorption in the stomach and intestines. Good sources of vitamin D include salmon, tuna and fortified milk, juices and cereals. With the help of sunshine, most of the vitamin D we get is made in the skin. If you are almost always indoors and get little or no sunshine on your skin, however, you may need to consult your doctor or dietitian about your vitamin D needs. Online Table 1 shows the recommended daily allowances for calcium and vitamin D in women

Iron

Iron helps increase the amount of red blood cells in the body and keep blood healthy. Women with heavy menstrual bleeding or pregnant women need more iron in their diets or may need an iron supplement. Too little iron may lead to anemia. Iron comes from animal sources (heme iron) and plant sources (nonheme iron). Heme iron (from animal sources) is better absorbed than iron from plant sources. However, the absorption of iron from plant sources can be improved when these foods are eaten in combination with foods rich in vitamin C (such as orange juice, strawberries or green, yellow or red peppers). Animal sources include meat, fish and eggs. Plant sources include nuts, seeds and dark leafy green vegetables. Women 19 to 50 years of age need 18 mg of iron daily, pregnant women need 27 mg of iron daily, and women 51 years and older need 8 mg every day.

31 to 50 Years of Age

Folate

Folate, a B vitamin, is naturally present in a wide variety of foods, including vegetables (especially dark green leafy vegetables), brown rice, spinach, sprouts, broccoli, green beans and potatoes. It's also found in fortified breads and cereals. Even if you're healthy and maintain a diet rich in folate, if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, folic acid supplements are recommended. Folic acid is a synthetic version of folate that helps the baby develop and reduces the risk of having a baby born with spinal cord problems, like spina bifida. Women of childbearing age need 400 micrograms of folic acid every day. This daily amount increases to 600 mcg for pregnant women and 500 mcg for breast-feeding women.

Magnesium

Magnesium is important throughout each stage of life because it supports hundreds of functions throughout the body, including tooth and bone formation, growth, physical and cognitive development and ensuring a healthy pregnancy. Magnesium is especially important for women older than 40 years, as it builds strong bones and prevents bone loss that may lead to osteoporosis. Magnesium may also help regulate blood pressure and blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, fortified cereals and leafy green vegetables (like spinach) are good sources of magnesium. See Online Table 2 for the recommended daily allowances for magnesium.

50 Years and Older

Calcium

As you approach menopause, your body produces less estrogen, putting you at increased risk for heart disease, osteoporosis and other complications. To build and maintain healthy bones, weight-bearing and muscle strengthening exercises are important. In addition to exercise, be sure to get the recommended daily allowance of calcium, which is 1,200 mg for women 50 years and older.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium and is the essential companion to calcium in maintaining strong bones. The recommended daily intake of vitamin D is 600 IU after age 50 years, increasing to 800 IU after age 70.

Fish Oil

Fish oil, found in cold-water, oily fish – such as salmon, mackerel and sardines – is a rich source of the two essential omega-3 fatty acids: EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Studies indicate omega-3s may reduce the risk and symptoms of various disorders, including heart attack, stroke, some cancers and rheumatoid arthritis. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish, especially oily fish, at least two times each week as part of a heart-healthy diet. Although omega-3 supplements have not been shown to protect against heart disease, there is evidence that eating seafood has a variety of health benefits. If you cannot eat fish or choose to not do so, talk to your health care provider to see if a fish oil supplement is right for you.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 helps your body make red blood cells and keeps the brain and nervous system healthy. This vitamin is found mostly in animal protein: meats, fish, dairy products and eggs. It can also be found in fortified breakfast cereals. As you get older, you can develop a reduced ability to absorb vitamin B12. If you become deficient, you may experience confusion, agitation or hallucinations. Almost all multivitamins contain vitamin B12. Supplements that contain only vitamin B12 or vitamin B12 in combination with other nutrients, as well as a prescription form that is administered as a shot, are also available.

End Note

Before starting any vitamin or mineral supplement, talk to your health care provider to determine if doing so is appropriate, especially if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or taking medications or have allergies to any medications or foods. HealthWhen To Use Ovaboost - a short story by Gabriel411(op): 2:00pm On Feb 01, 2019
THE MAN WATCHED, with fulfillment, as the merry crowd sat under the canopies. He looked with a smile at his wife who cupped, in her arms, their child; a soft bundle of feminine beauty and talcum. He recalled her nights of agony and days of sadness. Nights when she would refuse to sleep, praying, her voice hoarse, for a child. Days when she would awake – her face smeared with crusts of tears and mucus – and reply the neighbours, “I am fine,” when they ask.
In those days, awash with sadness, he would seek the counsels of pharmacists, doctors, pastors, friends, in-laws. Sometimes, his wife tagged along. But many times, she was too weak, too broken to come. On one of his visits to a pharmacy, he heard a sales rep run through an exposition of a drug. Called it Ovaboost. Said it was a dietary supplement that enhanced egg quality and ovarian function for women trying to get pregnant.
“You see,” the sales rep said, “women often go through many factors that have the tendency to affect the quality of their eggs and fertility. Factors like stress. Hasn’t it been said that men are the head and women the neck? That is why women are often stressed...because of the load of the head,” he laughed. Others laughed too. Then, he went further to talk about poor diet, hormonal imbalance, age, and how they deplete the function of the ovaries.
“Low quality eggs are like bad seeds. They are less likely to be fertilized, less likely to be implanted in the womb successfully. And this is where Ovaboost comes in,” he quipped, as he shared a flier to everyone.
The man fixed his gaze on the components of the drug and read how Vitamin E, grape seed extract and alpha lipoic acid help protect egg cells from the damaging effects of free radicals; how Coenzyme Q10 fuels successful cell division and implantation; and how myo-inositol improves insulin sensitivity which helps to promote ovarian function and cycle regularity especially in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome – a hormonal disorder where a woman has enlarged ovaries with little swellings at the outer edges. So he got the drug, headed straight for home, and handed it to his wife who took it religiously as advised by the sales rep – four capsules each day at bedtime.
Months later, after having a prolonged fatigue and nausea that wouldn’t abate with self-prescribed antimalarial drugs, she went to the hospital where she was told that her womb now cradled life.

CareerFive Qualities Employers Look For In Job Candidates by Gabriel411(op): 8:01am On Nov 10, 2018
A good degree or professional certification can help secure an interview for your dream job, but once you’re sitting in front of the recruiter or potential employer, you’ll need to show what you can offer in addition to your qualifications.
Today’s top employers are looking.
Today’s top employers are looking for more than the right training and education.
They are seeking employees who are well-rounded, adaptable, committed and a good fit for their organisational culture.
Here are a few attributes that recruiters and potential employers look for:
1. Attitude
Employers are looking for attitude as much as they’re looking for aptitude when they hire. They’d rather develop someone with the right outlook who needs some training than hire someone with great skills and low motivation.
Honesty, accountability, flexibility, curiosity and commitment are all as important to employers as your qualifications. If you can show that you’re motivated, upbeat, and eager to learn, that will give you an edge in the job market.
2. Interpersonal skills
Today’s workplace is diverse and collaborative, which means that most organisations are looking for people with high levels of emotional intelligence. Someone with good interpersonal skills is more likely to thrive than a superstar who lacks the tact and professionalism needed to play well with others. As good as your degree and experience might be, a recruiter or potential employer will also want to know that you can collaborate and lead.
3. Life Experience
Employers often like to see that their employees have interests outside work and that they can bring diverse life experiences to their job. A modern office is a multi-disciplinary environment. The leadership skills you learnt as a school rugby captain, the strategic thinking you developed playing competitive chess, the ability you developed to write clearly from your love of reading, your exposure to different cultures during a gap year of travelling – these can all be as valuable to an employer as your formal qualifications.
4. Work Experience
Young jobseekers often feel caught in a situation – they can’t get experience because no one will give them a job and they can’t get a job because they have no experience. Against this backdrop, it’s important to seek out experience to add to your CV. You can volunteer at a charity (many non-profit organisations need help in disciplines like IT, finance or marketing), take vacation jobs, or start up a small business to sharpen your skills and get practical experience.
5. Cultural Fit
The question of how you’ll fit in will generally be top-of-mind for someone interviewing you for a job. Cultural fit is about how likely you will be able to adapt to the core values and collective behaviours that make up an organisation. Having the right fit with a company means you’ll be happier at work and that you’ll be more likely to perform to the organisation’s expectations.
There are many factors that shape a corporate culture – corporate policies, geographic location, industry, size, the personalities of the founders and managers, values, and more – and the trick is to find a place to work that suits your personality and working style.
With platforms such as RxArena we can help you to track job opportunities and evaluate the values, interests and strengths that make you unique in the job market. Remember that how you position yourself is as important as your degree – show employers what you’ve got beyond the piece of paper.
