Teen In Hospital After Carnival Stabbing

A 15-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed at Notting Hill carnival, police have confirmed.

The young victim was found collapsed in Monmouth Road at around 7pm after having suffered multiple stab wounds.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We treated a 15-year-old boy for assault and have taken a patient to hospital."

Police earlier reported that the number of arrests at the carnival, Europe's largest street party, had been down on previous years.

By 9pm, officers had made a total of 193 arrests on Sunday and Monday, compared with 227 for the same time during Notting Hill Carnival 2008.

Among those arrested were 38 people who were detained at Victoria mainline station.

Police believed they had travelled in specially to create disorder and they were arrested "in order to prevent a breach of the peace".

They were taken to a south London police station and released at 10pm, after the carnival had finished.

Warm sunny weather brought an estimated 500,000 revellers out to join the raucous celebration in west London.

Performers wearing sequins and dramatic spiralling costumes danced and drummed behind the floats making their way around a 3.5-mile route.

They were joined by impromptu dancing in the side streets as reggae and samba beats blasted out from loud-speakers.

It later emerged that a surprise appearance by singer Miss Dynamite was cancelled due to crowd safety fears.

Event regulators only received notice of the performance hours before the event making it difficult to make the necessary safety arrangements.

A spokesman from Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea said: "It's great that Carnival can attract top talent, but we need more time to make sure that such an event can pass off safely.

"Miss Dynamite has a huge following; her appearance would draw many spectators to an already highly congested part of the Carnival area."

St John Ambulance said that by 4pm today they had treated 117 people, with 16 being taken to hospital.

As the sun set, Hilary Lister, 37, sailed into Dover harbour, Kent, and into the record books to cheers from waiting crowds.

Her 15-mile, five hour sail from Ramsgate marked the final leg of a marathon journey for the Oxford-educated former scientist.

Her sail was brought forward one day at the 11th hour after weather reports predicted adverse conditions for the scheduled voyage on Tuesday morning.

Speaking in her boat at the quayside, Mrs Lister said: "I'm hugely proud of the team, the whole team, who worked so hard for four months without a day off. It's a privilege to be back in Dover. The killer was when the wind died just east of the entrance to the harbour but unbelievably it picked up just as I sailed in."

She added: "We're going to have a meal for the whole crew tonight but we've got an early start in the morning."

Mrs Lister described the highlight of her challenge as being able to see the marine wildlife at close quarters sailing alongside her. She said: "Just seeing whales 35ft long fully breached out of the water was incredible. Two of them jumped like dolphins, it was amazing."

One of the low points, she added, was having to spend £9,000 to buy a reconditioned engine for her ridged inflatable safety boat. She also praised members of the Lions clubs around Britain who had supported her throughout her challenge.

Just before a celebratory bottle of Champagne was opened to cheers and applause, she said: "I'm so relieved to be home but looking forward to the next challenge. One thing I've learnt is that you can't predict the future, we couldn't even predict tomorrow's weather so I'm not ruling anything out or anything in."

Her spokesman, Paul Taroni, praised her determination and courage. He said: "This is an amazing triumph over adversity. Everything that went against her and all the things that went wrong, Hilary overcame to do something truly inspirational. We are all so proud of her."

I by all means do not find myself guilty. Im trying to tell this 190 of a guy that what he said about me is very hurtful and Im trying to give him a feel of what I actually felt!

Since based on all his post, he does not find hisself near guilty and since to mock people and to tell out the truth on people seems to be a pleasurable thing to him, than I shall do the same.

Unlike him, I only bashed him one time! He had to bashed me continuously!
