MonsieurCoder: Please stick to your initial title. It will give your work more attention. "Seeking Europe" is too generic. There is nothing special about seeking Europe. What makes your story special is How you did so: Do well to highlight that. Appreciated sir. |

ambs50: If i may say, your proposed title isnt catchy or captivativating. Perhaps just leave it as "seeking europe". Dnt worry abt stating its a true life story.once they write non-fiction on d cover page or publishing page readers will know. Thanks bro..suggestion copied 1 Like |

Nazeren: Happy it worked for you. Happy for you.
I'm glad. Why I said "those words will write themselves".
Did you include your childhood background? The two are intertwined. Thanks bro.Wouldn't have a story to tell if i had left those out so sure they are right there. Being the subject of the narrative and having read and reread ,if i could nod in affirmation or go all suspended on my own story i'm pretty confident my readers will be wowed. It came out as fine as i would want, witty and humorously entertaining yet very suspense filled and a story almost everyone of us can relate to as Africans Nay Nigerians.Thats what reality brings to the table i suppose. I'm looking at self publishing on amazon but the little snag is Amazon will be withholding 60% of the book earnings in taxes and their share as Nigeria has got no tax treaty with the US. I can actually handle this but thought to be sure to have exhausted every other options before proceeding,so incase you or anyone have an idea for an alternative route to pursue i'd love to be guided. In the absence of any suggestions tomorrow at the latest i'll go ahead and publish on Amazon Regards mate 9 Likes |

Nazeren: For real? That was pretty fast! Awesome. Let me know, pls, when you're done. Want to be the first to buy. My "biggest " you are bro..you are appreciated. No way you'll miss mentioning you in the book trust me...You deserve the mention for making me believe in me and for the push. It's the fifth day since i embarked on writing spending not more than 2 hours daily putting it together. It comes this easy as it is my story so no much thinking on what to write, rather it becomes a choice of what i want to tell. Thanks bro 10 Likes 1 Share |

Nazeren: Gaby, I'm your biggest fan. I've silently followed everything you posted on this topic and on the other thread but this past week has been frightfully busy for me to comment anything.
And...I'm disappointed.
Why you created this thread, I'll never know. Leave these petty things, would you? You should be writing a book. You're bigger than the things you do on here...even a blog! If only you'll believe in yourself, that you can and don't need anyone's validation. I've read how you hope someone will happen upon your story and "help". Why do you think you need to be discovered to discover yourself? You want to wait for that, really? Ok, we'll wait together. Or take the bull by the horn?
Gaby, you will write a book like Chimamanda has written. Though I do not like to compare you two. I think you are better, will do better. Your story content is stronger, heart wrenching, grittily realistic and will cause the powers that be to shiver down their spine.
You're a genuine talent and sharing this experience would be a form of release for you, a means of expressing things that have been pent up inside for many years. The world would know the horror, despair, hopelessness endured by almost half our people who have taken on this same distressing path as you.
Focus your time on putting together a manuscript reflecting the life you've known in the desert, your character typical of thousands who have struggled to survive in that death trap. Those words will write themselves, I assure you.
You may write under a pseudonym but whether or not you do, you'll be a sensation anyway. You'll take the world by storm and be the chief topic of conversation in all quarters. I dare say your story'll be a remarkable piece.
It's a very bigger picture on the other side. wow wow wow Thanks for being bluntly honest with me bro. Respect and love. 23 Likes 3 Shares |

DrWise: I'm unfollowing the thread.
I didn't have to wait this long for zubby in his Global runs series. The best real life story ever on nairaland.
You can sell your story to NAPTIP but I bet you, they gave enough. Oga if you did follow my story from the onset, you wouldn't have missed how it originated from an innocent comment i made on a different thread. I never set out to write this story to entertain or wow you or anyone else,i was only doing my bit in response to the numerous supports and quest from people to know more. I do not know if the same thing can be said of zuby's but my brother it is not easy remembering and writing it all in quick succession without having to think back hard and far to keep you entertained as it seems even though thats far from my aim of starting this thread. If you feel unfollowing will make you happy sir,do please yourself. You don't want to know how and what i'm going through reliving it all.To you it's all entertainment. You do well sir. Thanks. 58 Likes 4 Shares |

femu: Why don't you write and publish your book on amazon and drop the link here for nairalanders to buy.
You can also do publicity via Facebook and Instagram.
You can also do an audio book and put on the store for buyers.
Just make it affordable Thanks bro for the great tip very well worth exploring.. But with the publishing on amazon, wont you for instance buy and go on a sharing spree with say most people on here following the story? Taaku Thanks bro...naah no private contact with sparkle or anyone at that trust me.. |

Because i do not know who might reach out to me tomorrow and say guy lets do something about your story in the form of a book or movie. We both know if you've read and heard it all here you wont be needing the book or seeing a movie on the about subject which is a 100% natural. A life line to pick the remaining bits of my life might just be this true life story you want me pouring out here to you for free. Hope you'll understand my position and not see me as an A -hole. But ebi like say you don’t know how to arrange your tori sef or so I thought, You can look for someone to assist you if you find it difficult to arrange your story accordingly!

Sirkelvin: Thanks for sharing your experience. I have some questions.
1. How many days did you spend crossing sahara desert?
2. How true is the tale of drinking of ones urine? if true, were the guides inclusive or they brought their water?
3. were you in any way scammed during your trip? 1)We spent three days crossing the main Sahara desert, which is basically an ocean or sea of sand and dunes. You can imagine looking out at an ocean but this time instead of the waters without any end in sight you see sands. 2)Very true tale and as a last resort. No one is immuned to it when shit hits the ceiling fan. 3) Yup fell into the wrong hands about twice plus helped some co travellers along the way who didn't pay back . 5 Likes |
