Education / A Unilag Lecturer : My Story by Gakin95: 9:56am On Apr 18, 2019
*My Walk at the Stage of Life*

PhD convocation in Applied Mathematics at University of Lagos was an amazing experience as I closely watched Unilag’s Vice Chancellor, Pro Chancellor and Chancellor presided over it.

I was raised by a loving-disciplinarian father whose penchant for education had no bound and a caring–lovely mother who had little. I hawked bread and other perishable goods on the streets of Ode-Irele and Ode-Omi (Both in Ondo State) at early age of 10 to help my mum. I used to wait for my turn and joined hand with my elder bother to assist my parent in farming. I attended public primary and secondary schools at Ode-Irele. I proceeded to the prestigious University of Lagos, where I bagged First Class honours degree in Mathematics and Distinction in Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics after my NYSC.

Because I had a First Class and Distinction in B.Sc and M.Sc respectively, my professors encouraged me to embrace a career in academics and turned down all the juicy jobs. It was a tough decision for me but thank God I heeded their advice. During my Master’s degree, University of Lagos offered me teaching assistantship job. I also worked part-time as a tutor in A-level tutorial centres within Lagos metropolis to make extra money. Out of my determination, I applied to University of Lagos and other universities in United State of America to pursue a PhD in Applied Mathematics immediately after my Master’s degree. While in that PhD program, I was permanently employed as a Lecturer at University of Lagos. During second year of my PhD at Unilag, I was offered Ph.D admission by some Universities in USA but I had to turn them down because I had made amazing progress in the PhD’s research and I had one more year left to complete the programme here in Unilag.

Today I walked the stage as the first person to bag a B.Sc (First Class), M.Sc. (Distinction) and Ph.D in Applied Mathematics from University of Lagos. I walked this stage for you Mama Africa and for my Mother State - Ondo State. I walked for all of you from my ghetto hood "Akingboye-Ode Irele", Ondo State. I walked for all Salvation Primary school and CHS Ode-Irele students and ex-students that we are brilliant hard working people. I walked for all of you Ondo State students Association at University of Lagos who are pressing hard for fulfilment of their dreams. I walked for all fathers and mothers who have little and toil day by day for their children to become somebody in life.

Specially, I walked for you my parents, Siblings and extended family in fulfillment of your dreams! Specially, I walked the stage for you my late grandmother Moniola Arise who took care of me between ages 2 and 5. Today I walked for these students at University of Lagos who see me as their role model. I walked for all young men and women who strive every day chasing their dreams.
I walked in celebration of the unfailing and unending love of my first and one truly true love, Jesus Christ (the custodian of wisdom, the one who loves me unconditionally and effortlessly; in you I walk, in you I live and in you I have had and will continue to have my being). I have come to indebt understanding that a man receives nothing, except it be given from heaven.–John 3:27.

Try to assist people as much as you can because the seed you grow in others will naturally grow in you. Never cut corners; never avoid reality. "You can avoid reality but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality"Be bold. Be dedicated. Be tolerant. Be persistent. Be innovative. Be different. Be you. Be everything you want to be but remember to put God first! Put God first in everything you do. Let no man, upbringing, money, circumstance, race, past mistakes, institution, company, partner or background affect you negatively. Do not listen to any voice telling you that you cannot do it. Go smart! Go hard! Go tough but be humble and simple in manner. Go for Gold! Go with God! Just get going. Let hope, determination, courage, resilience and persistence be your fuel

Politics / 10 Questions From GEJ Asked OBJ At The Mother Of All Meetings With OBJ, Witnesse by Gakin95: 12:02pm On Jan 15, 2015
10 questions from GEJ asked OBJ at the mother of all meetings with OBJ, witnessed by Papa Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo. Matters arising: Tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

1. Did you or did you not admit to me that you knew Yar Adua was terminally ill and that he would die in office?

2. Did you not promise that I have all of your backing, until I discovered that you were aiding and abetting sabotage against my government?

3. Why did you say "genocide and human rights my foot?" That I must go and totally wipe out the entire areas affected by the boko haram, irrespective of the civilian population in those areas, adding that it was being used as a political weapon by the northern power block to come back to power? Why did you ask me to forget about the constitution and enforce a "total state of emergency?"

4. Did you not insist that I drop Sambo for Sule Lamido as a condition for your support?

5. Did you not or did you not advise that I stop the IPPIS and Aquila which have been used to flush out ghost workers from the civil service, adding that it was going to "frustrate" the boys and turn them against me?

6. Did you not tell me that this country, whether we like it or not, belongs to those people, and that all the expiring oil licenses must be put before them on the table again without any conditions?

7. How many times did you call me "you this Ijaw boy?" And then you will say "you think you can transform Nigeria by building railways and reviving agriculture abi?"

8. Why did you call me to express your displeasure over the exposure of Buhari's educational background and arranged ascendancy in the military?

9. That was when you assured me that Buhari was also terminally ill with very bad prostrate cancer and that you have it on good authority that he won't make it for much longer?

10. But you severally assured me that you'd give me a free hand to run the government, not so?

Religion / Re: Rccg Asks Every Family In The Church To Donate #50,000 To Support University by Gakin95: 10:48am On Mar 06, 2012
Hi peeps, it's so appalling the way some people ff their 'pastors' blindly in the name of worshipping. The university was set up as a non profit making org but make hell of profit. How many parish 'pastors' can afford to send their children to the sch? I think it's high time the churches are taxed. By the way, establishment of schools is foreign to the propagation of the gospel. I think the best to be done is to reach out to the lost souls, widows and orphans. James 1:27 says 'pure and undefiled religion is visiting the orphans and attending to the widows, ' .There r so many indigent students out there, brilliant, even within the redeem church who couldn't afford to go to d university.
God xpects people to give their finances to the his work BUT it must be voluntary and without compulsion. Therefore, let us search our scriptures in detail and follows d apostolic examples instead of blindfully saying 'daddy says', 'my pastor says' and all that. BRETHREN, BEWARE!

This was foretold in Galatia 1:7-8. ', but ther be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of christ even if we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be eternally accursed' . I'm not surprised that this is coming up now, it's bn predicted.

Education / Re: Let's Slove Mathematics! (any Maths Question, Any Topic) by Gakin95: 6:02pm On Dec 15, 2011
Hint: the both questions r based on partial differentiation. I.e if u don't know partial differentiation, u can't know it. D 1st is on young's theorem under differentiation while d 2nd is on Jacobian's theorem under differentiation. Let's c who gets it.
Education / Re: Let's Slove Mathematics! (any Maths Question, Any Topic) by Gakin95: 10:19am On Dec 14, 2011
Let's c who solves this. 1) F= e logxlogy (exponential logxlogy). Find fxy and fyx.
2) Toyin said d equations below are functionally dependent. Is she correct? Proof with workings. w1= xbyc (i.e x with power b and y with power c)
w2= blogx+clogy.

Let me make this clear to all of u that did not meet d cut off saying 'i'm finished' the truth is that ur admission is not over but not guaranteed. I'l meet them on ur behalf. Then, u still need to pray as some may just be offered admission because d no of those to be admitted to some depts may nt be complete and d vacancy can be filled. U may call me if u still av any question on 08181203566
