Folaroyal:I humbly disagree with points 1 and 2 especially as you used the word ''Must". Career change is not a crime. People may develop love for a new career as they progress in life. Some of us were almost trapped in the career bubble because we had little input into what we wanted to do early in life. It can be frustrating if you are continuously coerced to maintain the same path which provides no sense of fulfillment for you. I graduated almost 20 years ago, Masters 15 years ago... But going for BSc in completely different field. I resisted the temptation to stay on the same part for visa approval having made that mistake only to end up unsatisfied in Australia and abandoning my studies there 4 years ago after a Semester pursuing another somewhat related Masters Programme. I made up my mind and said it's what I want or the highway because I was searching for fulfilment which had always eluded me in spite of my academic pursuits. Middle age crises can get more pronounced as a result of inadequate guidance counselling services when we were making career decisions. For instance, a major factor at play after our JSS exams was the notion that Science were for brilliant students whereas art classes were for dull students who couldn't excel in the sciences. This kind of impression we had must have destroyed so many dreams as people will grow up realising they may be square pegs trying to fit into round holes all their lives and then it gets further compounded when VO's supported by yours truly give the impression you MUST continue in that line. I salute the individual for trying to make a career change and encourage him to stay the course. If our Politicians can scream PeeeDeeePeeeee in the morning and APeeCeee by evening why can't we pursue a more moral course of action? |
Dwebb55:My major concern with JR is the 4 pointer. If it was a single reason or 2, it may be easier. They may have thrown many points so that one may hook you even if you scale the rest in the JR process. Sometimes, the multiple reasons may be joined at the root which makes it easier to knock off with a single successful strike. Perhaps, you should reapply through an immigration lawyer because the lawyer would have prepared the grounds/foundation to challenge any negative decision in your application ab initio. No new details or documents can be introduced at that stage because they will be looking at the facts available to the VO at the time the decision was taken. |
canadabyfire:Succinctly put. |
rebeccausoro:It may then be added as a requirement and more money for the test providers who are seriously lobbying for such opportunity -less money in our pockets and one more thing to worry about for us. I recently wrote PTE for Ireland Study Visa as part of the requirements of the Embassy and I wrote IELTS for Australia a few years ago. It seems students need to write exams for UK study as well unless you are going for English or foundation programs. On a different note, I saw someone at Abuja VFS earlier today when I went to check for my passport. The guy sat at a corner for like forever reading his letter which I guess was from Nairobi after opening his package. It was like his world came tumbling down. I asked him if he was on Nairaland but he said "no". I felt his pain. When your application is before them, you can't really plan anything effectively as everything seems to depend on the outcome of the Application. I also met a lady who is on NL too there but I've forgotten her moniker. Think Lady in Blue. |
jnyuwa02:Thanks for putting me in line. I completely agree with you boss, though It would be more excusable for people from countries such as India, China, Pakistan, etc as I think English is our official language. It seems we are exempt from IELTS/ TOEFL by Canada because they recognise our level of English competence. Anyway, his brain may be scientific calculator as some people are exceptional in one field like the Chinese... after laughing at their English, they will surprisingly dust you in class and leave you wondering how they answered the exam question. Did you consider the request for case notes I suggested? |
Cherryola:Hello sir, is your intended program of study English Language foundation? If otherwise, the VO's may not need to defend their decision as you might have succeeded in making their case for them. Please next time, you may use an online grammar checker as it seems you have inadvertently put a question mark on the integrity of our education system and this may result in compulsory English tests such as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE examination as a prerequisite for future prospective students. I understand you might have written in annoyance but the number of errors is regrettable. Kindly do something about it like recalling or updating it after blaming "auto-correct". Lastly, we do not really have the statistics to blame Kenya peeps. Some people may be silently getting their approvals and walking away without feedback. I have noticed 1 or 2 people who screamed out of frustration only when they became afraid of their situation. In Nigeria, it is common place to see 3,000 applicants apply for job openings for 50 people. The VO's may be in the same situation. You cannot really blame the company when they eventually engage the 50 people they can accommodate just the same way we may not be able to fault the VO's. Your application may be air tight and excellent in your opinion as well as that of the case officer but they do not operate in a vacuum as there are other constraints to contend with. Please take it easy. I lost a friend who was supposed to get married a little over a week ago about 3 weeks back. Sometimes, when you see a problem, you realise that you should be thanking God for so many things we fail to appreciate, like life. I am guilty of such ingratitude oftentimes as well. May it be well with us. Apologies for the refusal. Been there too many times. |
MeinKampf:I think they've held my passport for up to 5 months before -22 weeks was the standard then. Those days, I used to travel from Abuja to Lagos to submit and do biometrics.... Then there was a time, I'd submit online but still travel to Lagos for biometrics.... On one occasion, I received my delay letter on my way back to Abuja from Lagos, I started wondering if they were just waiting for my biometrics to fulfill all righteousness before delaying me. On one occasion, I drove to Lagos to submit and returned to Abuja same day. Left Abuja around 5am and arrived back around 2am. I must have been in Lagos around 2pm. Drove into VFS Ikeja and out without entering Lagos deeply. I think I left Akure around 7pm on my way back to Abuja after eating in Chicken republic. On some occassions, I flew to Lagos for submission. It's been a rough ride so far. |
bbclue:Welcome & Good morning to you... On behalf of @goingfoward, I proclaim gospel in the house through the week starting from today. Amen? Got my POE letter yesterday. When I checked the weather around December it's showing over -20 degrees. I'm beginning to wonder if they made me miss fall resumption intentionally - so that I'll run back into the plane and scream "take me back home before I freeze to death!" when I finally land. I'm suspecting these guys now maybe dey wanna make a clown out of me.... Well, canadabyfire! |

Perhaps there is ban for toasting because the toasting site may not be free and admin must eat to survive. So you may have to move on to the other room. @bbclue, he don pm you? Austacus:Thanks @Austacus .... The person that ask questions does not miss road and change is constant so having answered a question a thousand times doesn't mean the answer will still be relevant as it could be updated. In fact, that is the very essence of research, challenging the status quo by digging up fresh facts. One JJC asking "silly" questions may end up stating the result of his/her findings and change the narrative, however, if we Bash them into silence, we may never get to hear the result of their research, and indeed, learn from them. I studied briefly in Australia and used to get furious when students ask ''apparently" silly questions. I was amazed at the level of tolerance of the lecturers who will try to reason with the student and perhaps even find some relevant points in the question I had long written off. When I started applying, I didn't know anything like Case Notes but only learnt about it recently, also when I used to work in an organisation, there was this guy who was not in my department but always ready to teach me so I always felt comfortable going to meet him whenever I needed guidance. The Man is in Canada now and I believe his attitude helped him go far in life because in guiding me, he was also keeping himself abreast of the operations in my department. I was thoroughly tongue lashed (to the extent I was noticed and banned -I got away with it before so I didn't know it was an offence) just for sending link of case notes but I let it pass as I suspected a case of frustration which may bring out a personality different from whom we are however, I became concerned for that particular individual when I noticed a sustained campaign against people who asked questions and was worried about self harm -I was thinking about how to reach his friends so they'll be taking turns in following him around and be a step away in case he tries something funny. That's why, I was greatly relieved when I saw the fella post something after someone recently jumped into the Lagos lagoon. May it be well with us and may we not be hostile like some of our Naija lecturers who hoard marks and knowledge. Some people can only calculate mathematics and nothing more so they freak out when it comes to essay writing and vice versa. Let us continue to lend a helping hand while encouraging people to be better or learn to use other online resources like Google and school websites. Chinua Achebe in his book, Things Fall Apart, stated that ..."A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to save them from starving. They all have food in their own homes. When we gather together in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so". Perhaps, in the same way, people come to NL for various reasons including finding solace when they are weak, giving comfort when strong, seeking hope when in dispair, searching for knowledge when confused, and, perhaps most importantly, being covered by @goingforward's prayer -we will soon start collecting online offering for this service. May we resist the temptation of categorising some questions as silly. Some questions appear illogical, not because they truly are, but because we rush to judge the question without really appreciating or understanding the inquiry, it's background or where the person asking is coming from or heading towards. Good morning my fellow NLanders, and keep up the good work of sharing knowledge. On a final note, please don't answer questions by sharing direct links that will get you banned like me. It is not my intention to over fire someone up only to get him/her banned for providing services to humanity! |
jnyuwa02:Hello Bro, I was going to suggest if it was OK to order your case notes after my suspension is lifted. Will this not help give you an idea of what may be holding up your application? With the insight, you may be able to do something about what may be holding your file down. My Medicals was done on the 27th after receiving medical instruction on the 23rd of August. Having been waiting since then, I began to considering ordering for case notes before my PPR arrived. Hopefully, you will get feedback before the case notes arrive but it may be worth the effort. |
canadabyfire:Reality... 6 refusals over 7 years! I'm still finding it difficult to believe myself. |
galala123:Did I Hiroshima and Nagasaki the house ![]() Grave yard silence in the marketplace It's OK to say Congrats because my housemates seem to be confused as to whether to say congratulations or send me message of consolation! |
canadabyfire:I'm back with a strong message of hope! Apologies to those that have had a still born as I know the pain is nothing compared to mine understandably because matters of death cannot be compared to other vicissitudes of life. However, I beg your indulgence to allow me use it to describe the pain and level of disappointment I have suffered over the years. After half a dozen refusals in as many years plus 1, I am elated to inform the house that the labour period is over and this time around .....IT IS A LIVE DELIVERY! PPR received. The only thing confusing me now is that.... Shebi, I would have put all this effort into running for President? ![]() |

canadabyfire:I'm back from suspension perhaps for sharing gcms link ![]() When you were all saying "use Google", I thought it was an opportunity to shine so I just quoted a link ![]() Once beaten, thrice shy.... someone was looking for direction on my street, I was about to help but after remembering @justwise.... I said "use google!" |
Diijah:I think they have stopped refusal stamp since database engines gained popularity. I think at a time Nigerians had to protest because it was like a stigma. If you don't give me visa, please do not deface my passport in a manner that may affect the decision of another Country's VO adversely. As numerous visa's in passport could affect the thinking of a VO positively, several refusal stamps could also tempt a VO to decide an application negatively. |
Diijah:Thanks for sharing! |
Diijah:So if we tell you that the request is to enable them "to put refusal stamp " ( that's a new one!) .. You'll run away with your passport? Congrats again. Please don't teach IRCC a bad thing like refusal stamp oh.You just got the mail? |
Diijah:Congratulations in advance, see how accumulated tension is making people think. Folks are afraid of any news. |
Henkubert:It is today as confirmed via twitter though it seems they are back up according to their latest tweet which mentions eTA specifically is back online. By God's Grace, no delay shot will pass this defender.
|
henricson:Seems they're back online. Correspondent henricson reporting from VFS.... Please confirm present system status. If they are still down, please go behind and check to see if they are working on their generator as inverter may be only powering the light bulbs. |
Lagos2canna:Amen. Thanks. |
Yiyio:Thanks for the suggestion. He must have impressed you which is why you are able to confidently recommend him. I'm sure some folks will contact him based on your positive feedback. |
henricson:The Portal is down for system maintenance again
|
Yiyio:We have agents here... I think Lagos2Canna is one... When he's on fire, he runs back to this house for advice sef. I suggest people that have been active and helpful here should be given right of first refusal. Not after providing free advise, the we carry the money elsewhere. Just thinking aloud. |
Agbons101:I believe there are exceptions to the rule. For example, if your program of study is 2 years, and your passport validity is 1.5 years, you cannot ordinarily renew your passport unless it is remaining 6 months or less to expire. Under such circumstances, I think I have heard that they may give you 1.5 years visa per the validity of your passport. If your passport validity is less than 6 months, the rule as stated by you may be applied since you can renew your passport and save everyone stress in the near future. For USA visit visa, the visa validity can go beyond the passport validity. Upon expiry, you can travel with the old expired passport with valid visa as well as the renewed passport. |
anitakel:A big congrats to you |
Concate:AMEN |
