I'm quite impatient though first lesson for Canada is Anxiety Management 101. If I was the one that got that message, I would have been welcoming them to work today. In fact, I will help them sweep the office so they can resume work early if it will reduce waiting time.

Good day all. My application (Online) of June 13th is 11 weeks and a day old and have exceeded the current PT. Both review of eligibility started and medical changed to passed on the 9th August. Though I later got medical Request on 15th (I did upfront medical and submitted along my app). I sent the Medical Slip and was updated to pass "again" on 17th. On the 24th of August. I sent mail to Lagos, Accra, London, Nairobi and used the Web form. Still no notification and response. Now I wanna do them another mail. I need your candid advise.
Thanks in anticipation.
No news yet? When is your school resuming? I was hoping that most passport requests will arrive about 3 days after medicals passed having seen such timeline for 2 folks recently.

Just noticed you stated September 1. When is the last day to register?

Hello house, I'm new here and in need of advice. I'll be going to Dublin Business School for my masters in January and my father in-law has agreed to sponsor my education. I want to know if this is acceptable for visa application? If so, is it necessary to get him to add his payslips to his bank statement? Or would his 6 months bank statement ONLY be sufficient? He works with the federal government. I'd appreciate a prompt response, as I'm on the verge of paying my tuition. Thank you.
I'd like to know if your father-in-law has any other available daughter so you and I can go to Dublin together as brothers-in-law! grin

And it gets better when our wives join us there on their own study visas so we can all be one happy family-in-law in Dublin cool

Just kidding. Someone please help with the information required.

Thanks @thatslimboy

Good morning and best wishes to those expecting their visas.

I am about to apply for my canada student visa. Every other documents I have compressed to less than 4mb but my sponsor's bank statement is too bulky. For the past 5 days I have been working on it to compress it using almost all the compressor online. The least I can get it just 26mb clear anything less than that can't be readable. Actually the original file size of the scanned bank statement is 107mb PDF though it was first scanned in picture formats first and then converted to pdf. I am so confused. I have tried so many techniques and even took it to business computer centers, until now nothing. This bank statement is 6months and is about 252 pages.
My last option tomorrow morning is to reduce the pages to half or lesser than half by randomly extracting some pages. Please I need an advice before I do this. I need an advice as soon as possible please.
If you try the flat scanner to do about 10 pages and it is giving you much better results, perhaps you should get the model number and proceed to the market to buy one as it may be cheaper buying than paying to scan at a business centre.

I was advised to randomly remove some pages buy my fear with such removal is misrepresentation which is much more costly (except you explain what you did upfront in case you need to argue it later on having reported yourself which can also be costly).

252 pages sha... corporate or personal statement? and I thought I had a long statement.

Have you been using one of those box like scanners? Yes? Try the flat one. It worked wonders for me.

If you need to randomly remove, can one do that then put the full one in your Google drive, and provide a link to view it in your SOP to view and download after explaining your challenges?

Try the flat scanner first. That type we take for granted and it may work miracles. Scan black and white to PDF and reduce the dpi.

16k for scanning documents is expensive. I use whatsapp to compress size by scanning documents to pic or jpg then send through whatsapp to another phone and the quality is awesome
I use WhatsApp too but it has a limit it can take. When a document is over compressed and then blown up, it becomes blurred. Note that WhatsApp images are often viewed on small screens mostly phones and tablets.

The thing pain me. But after trying unsuccessfully for days and wasting about 10k. I was happy.

After trying without success someone advised me to reduce the pages to about 45 by removing some pages which I did but was not happy as I was afraid it could be seen as fraudulent misrepresentation.

So by the time I was able to do ALL the 65 pages crystal clear and about 1.7mb (I could have been able to reduce it to less than half with a reducer if I wanted to and it would have still be clear enough).

The amount I was charged left a bitter taste in my mouth sha. And imagine after wasting over 10k doing 65 pages and then 45 pages in the other business centre without result.

I was wondering if I should have even bought a scanner with that money. Those days, the flat scanner used to be about 8k (Before the steep fall of the Naira). I wonder how much it is now.

The first business centre charges ₦100/page which ended up at about ₦11,000 for the 65 and 45 pages. And this was over several days oh as I kept going back for them to keep trying different methods. By time it is compressed, it becomes too blurred to read.

The hotel charged me ₦250/ page which came to ₦16,250 for the complete statement of 65 pages but I got what I wanted at one trial though I helped the lady reduce the DPI and most importantly, I was no longer afraid of being accused of misrepresentation for skipping some pages. Man has suffered!

If the airlines does not ask/indicate that you provide or obtain one, then it is not necessary. I traveled through Dublin (not sure part of UK) without one. If in doubt, write to the embassy
I suspect he needs transit visa to pass through the UK. No need of flying national carrier and passing through Amsterdam, CDG, Frankfurt, Dubai , Addis Ababa , etc being KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, etc respectively. Like the US, I suspect you need transit for UK. My passport was stolen in Switzerland and BA refused to bring me back though I presented Emergency Travel Certificate and Police Report. They insisted I needed passport with Visa, All my argument that they brought me there and I changed my return ticket to continue immediately without entering UK thereby seeing passport control fell on deaf ears. Had to buy a new KLM ticket to return.

For 4 hours stopover, I guess it's within the same airport. Not like into Heathrow and out of Gatwick right?

I had similar problem until I went to one hotel in Abuja where they scanned it using one of those flat scanners. It came out much smaller. I had been using one of those box-like scanners and the original will come out heavy no matter how small I scan it. Then if I reduce it won't be clear. Though I spent about ₦16k to scan 65 pages, I was happy with the final outcome having spent ₦6,500 earlier without result because it came out over 20GB and then blurred when reduced to less than 10GB.

Try the flat scanner and reduce the dpi when scanning.

It states on their site that they will refund if TRV app is denied, so where is the moniker getting the info she is telling the house? Even the issue of deferral, their is no charges attached to it(if done on time) and she said something about being charged around 700k for it(of she wants to defer)...
There are 2 conditions which need to be met as stated on page 11. Is she able to satisfy them? That's why I was asking of the resumption date. I also hope she is not getting information from a third party.

@Vivicintia

I doubt if this money can be refunded; from UBC's website it is clearly stated that it is non-refundable and non-transferable......... however, nothing is impossible..................email the school and hear from firsthand, their own opinion on the refund..............That school is damn too expensive........... 1year MBA tuition of $79,290 CAD for international student and estimated total all inclusive expense (Tuition, accommodation, textbook, etc) of CAD105,442..........................#loud hmmmmmmmmmmmm#

Anyway N1.5million is alot for a Nigerian to blow away like that.................UBC is among the very good and expensive business schools in canada.............count your losses...........and choose carefully next time.

Someone who can afford $79,290CAD can easily forget 5000CAD grin grin grin
Thanks for bringing out the bigger picture. Now I get it!

It was stated as non refundable.
I sent a mail for deferral and they said we will pay again for deferral which is about 700,000

I can't pay that huge amount again.
I want to try for refund.
Is it possible to get refundhuh??
Which school is that? Is it that you don't have WEAC, University Certificate, and cannot speak any language? What is so special about the school or makes you so unacceptable to other schools that they have to put such a huge premium to accept you or defer your admission when lots of schools are begging? Abi Na ivy league school?

I hope it is not an agent in Nigeria that is shaving you oh! I wan vex sef.

And it is not as if their offer letter makes one bounce proof by giving you immunity from being refused visa.

Please check their rules deeply, they are always exceptions or just run away from them as fast as you can before they touch the 700k that they have started eying already. Is that how to console you?

Lastly, did you fail to inform them that you may not make it before a communicated deadline? Like you are expected to inform a hotel days before your booking expires that you will not come rather than waiting for the date to pass and then appear very much like a no show in the aviation industry.

Thanks
Please who knows if it is possible to get back non refundable deposits.
Please help !!!
If your visa application was successful based on the offer letter and you decide not to travel again, the school may argue that they kept a slot out of limited spaces for you which cannot be filled now because of inadequate time to process visa for next allottee.

However, I believe you have a good case having been denied visa. It's no longer your fault. As someone suggested, look for the refund policy on their website.

I am almost certain you will get a chunk of your money back. If they insist on not refunding, contact a lawyer and negotiate payment on amount recovered only if possible.

And which Institution is that? I don't think any Institution will risk putting their reputation on the line because of refund issues as it will hunt them eventually because people will only deposit where refund is possible.

Actually, I'm in similar position in one Country, Paid full fees and got visa but I don't think I can make it any longer. I plan to contact them next week. It was stated on my offer letter that no refund if Visa application is successful but they can refund on health grounds after being repatriated back to your home country and then the refund payable will be sent back to an account in your home country. In my case, I don't think I can make it to their Country anymore. In fact was planning to withdraw my visa application next week but it came through yesterday which is about 2 weeks earlier than expected.

After sending them mail,
Visa was denied.
Please who knows if I can get the money back.
Since visa was refused, I expect you to get all or most of your money back after deducting administrative fees and perhaps non refundable deposit if applicable.

It must be very painful having waited for so long. I know the feeling.

Go to your bank with your admission letter, passport, and ask for Form A. You can pay part if not all your tuition fee using the official rate. You can also get PTA of up to 4000 USD on presentation of your ticket and passport. Go to the main branches in Ikeja or VI/Ikoyi as branches on the mainland may not be able to grant your requests.
Don't you need a return air ticket for this?

Last month I bought from the parallel market as it was cheaper than bank rate. Got it for ₦359/USD as against bank rate which was over ₦360/USD at that time.

Check well but source from bank if you are afraid of being sold fake currency. Do they sell CAD in Naija?

@Jnyuwa02, Please let me inquire from you; Can I online submit my application and upload the medicals maybe in two days time, I just did my medicals today and the medical center said the result will be out on Monday, but I want to submit my application tomorrow - hence my question.

Secondly, the bank statement I used; since I did not know which address I will address the statement to I asked the bank to send it to the following address:

The High Commissioner
Canada Visa Application Centre
SilverBird Entertainment Centre
Plot 1161, Memorial Drive 2nd Floor
Central Business District, Abuja

Did I err in asking for the address to be used thus.
Thanks
They are supposed to give you a one pager with barcode number which you will upload. It's not your responsibility to upload the results. It may have your picture on it. You were to collect the form immediately after the medicals for uploading with your application as per upfront medicals. Perhaps you should go back to collect it tomorrow.

It is possible but a friend here had an issue. His study visa was refused and one of the issues upon receipt of Case Notes was that he had multiple EE applications which presupposes that he does not intend to stay in Canada temporarily!

Just picked up my passport. Visa issued!

I don't think I can make it. Was planning to go to withdraw my application next week coz something came up.

I was somehow praying for refusal because it will be easier to get tuition refund. My offer letter says no refund if visa is Granted but I have to study the schools policy carefully as I saw refund policy that seemed to counter this somewhere especially as I am not planning to enter Ireland.

My friend in the know just texted "Congrats or Not!"

I will explain the whole scenario shortly.
